Thanks! I listened to it a bunch times, then after I transcribed it, I just practiced it with the recording a lot. There are so many nuances in Cory's playing that I had to work on!
@@juniperwoodgreen4090 if by "doing your own thing" you mean ignoring all the great material that there is out there to transcribe and learn from, then no! I think that is a terrible idea. Don't let your ego tell you that it is shameful to transcribe or copy ideas. No matter what anyone says, transcribing, using your ear and studying the masters' playing is fundamental. And that's true for any musician, even the greats. No musician has ever truly reinvented the wheel from scratch. Innovation and evolution have brought music to where it is. And both of these things require the study of existing material.

Originally it took a couple days to get all the right hand lines, and then I stopped working on it. But I went back when I was bored on tour and decided I wanted to get all the L.H. chords as well - that took a couple days as well... so altogether probably about 4 days of work over the span of a few months!
Lowell Clarke and i think thats the beauty of it, Cory never plays the same solo or the same phrases, he uses similar ideas but different licks everytime, the fact he improvised this is astonishing, and transcribing it its a pain in the ass. (Im learning it by ear as most of this covers were lol) being able to play the entire thing it in one take it just blows my mind!
100 years from now it will be called something like "Henry Sonata No. 17" and future piano students will be playing it at recitals.
