I've listened to this at least 50 times and this is the FIRST TIME that I've heard the echo effect that Shaun does with the talk box at the end of each of his phrases in the intro. It's so subtle and my brain exploded with how phenomenal that microscopic extra layer is. 0:26 and 0:45 for reference. watch his mouth and you'll REALLY be able to hear it and then you won't be able to unhear it!

When I saw that the writer is Mike Mahler, I scrolled down to see that he's the Trumpet player.
It's really not typical for musicians to write songs that don't feature themselves, but Snarky does it regularly.
    Speaks to Michael League's leadership.
    KUDOS!

That's one of the things that inspires me the most about Snarky Puppy. Namely the fact that each and every member is an astonishing soloist when they're in the spotlight. But they spend most of their time building eachother up when it's someone else's time to shine.

RIP Shaun.I saw Snarky Puppy play live in April of last year and I went with a copy of Seven Summers and waited to meet him. He took a lot longer to come out after the rest of the band, but when Michael saw that I had his album he ensured he'd come out.
He was super excited to see that I had brought *his* album to the show. I let him know how optimistic his music made me and he basically told me "that's what it's all about"
He made his music to make people feel good and he absolutely nailed it. He will be missed very much by me.

Larnell Lewis (the drummer) had to learn most of the songs on a sudden flight over when the previous drummer's passport was found to be expired. He got a few hours' practice with the band before taping. I've never met him, don't expect to, but the joy in his playing is, I think, a lesson to all of us: love what you do, no matter how difficult, and life is good. Thank you, sir. You are amazing.

They are laughing because: "One funny little thing about this recording... Larnell actually enters with that epic Phil Collins-ish fill (Chris McQueen’s idea, by the way) into letter K one bar early. I frantically shook my head at him during the take, and like a total pro, he continued filling into a second bar like it was all part of the plan. A few seconds later, there is a shot on the DVD showing the two of us cracking up. Major “phew” moment there.
      !
So now, officially- the fill is 2 bars."

I really love and appreciate that the percussionist really got to shine in this piece along with the drummer as this song is VERY percussion heavy and relies on it to bring out the song's true flavour. I always say the percussion is the spice of music.
