I've always said that 400 Degreez is the South's Illmatic. Young Bleed's Balls and My Word as well. Both phenomenal albums with truly genre defining production, almost if not perfect sequencing and (at that point)unique and nationally unheard deliverance of lyrics yet were very catchy and the adlibs alone from both MC'S would be stuck in your head, LET ALONE THE BARS. MASTERPIECES. STILL BUMP BOTH REGULARLY. AS SHOULD YOU.

When Ha dropped and 400 Degrees dropped, I was in 10th grade. When I say that album was everywhere and on every radio, that's no lie. I still listen to this album to this day. 1998 was such a classic year for Hip Hop.

The beats produced by Mannie Fresh and 36 Mafia around this time essentially revolutionized the game. 25 years later a lot of modern day beats are based on their styles of production

1998 was one of the best years for rap music. It was literally like going to school in 1970-71, every week there's another all-time classic record. it was kinda just too much to process at the time, but I'm proud that was my youth.

so this is MY 400 Degreez album story…. 1998… i’m in 8th grade.. it was a friday after school, getting ready to hit the mall and i’m watchin Rap City on BET… this video comes on with this crazy beat.. the screen reads “Magnolia Housing Projects”… me already being a huge No Limit fan at the time, i’m like “Oh, that’s where Soulja Slim is from”…. it’s “Ha”.. i’m watching the video in awe for two reasons.. 1. i originally thought “Ha” was a DANCEHALL song due to the beat and Juvenile thick New Orleans accent, i thought he was Jamaican and rappin in Patois .. i was like “damn, they got a reggae artist coming out the Magnolia?.. interesting!” 😂😂 … 2. all the events taking place in the video.. i thought MY city looked bad, but New Orleans looked horrific…. so the one part that stuck with me was the “run for it run for it run!” part, right…. Monday comes, i’m in the lunch room with a group of friends… we were talking about different rappers and videos, but i started talking about that “Ha” video and i couldn’t remember who the song was by. one of homeboys was like “oh you talkin about Juvenile!! RUN FOR IT RUN FOR IT!!” .. and i was extra hype cause nobody knew who or what i was talkin about at first… all i needed was a name.. i ended up going to Blockbuster Music that evening, and bought the CD off the strength of that song… i had the OG press, meaning the FIRST release of the album… on the OG press “Follow Me Now” and both of the “Ha” remixes with the Hot Boys and Jay Z weren’t on there.. i think they reissued them after “Back Dat Azz Up” blew up…but yeah, that’s definitely a classic album.. great times, great memories… we had a club out here called Club Casino and everybody would go crazy when they played “Rich N**gaz”, cause of the line when Juvenile say “Meet me in the Casino, WAY IN THE BACK!!” that became a slogan fr..

When I first heard "Ha" I thought it was the dumbest song ever. Then I seen the video. I said, "I get it now." But I still didn't expect much from his album. When I first heard 400 Degreez, I was blown away instantly. His rhymes. His beats. Just incredible. Couldn't go to a house party without hearing the album. I felt like Cash Money was the REAL New Orleans. They made No Limit sound generic at that point. 400 Degreez is one of the best albums in Hip-Hop history.

You still haven’t done 400 Degreez as a single, we never did Ghetto Children as a single. It was a couple of songs we never did as singles off of that album and we were at seven million copies and still selling strong. I was 11 years old when my dad came back from the flee market and bought me my first used CD player. Inside was the album 400 degrees. When my parents left the house I would slap the album hella loud in my dad's magnavox stereo. I would act hella tight 🤣 after than I bought Big Tymers at Sam Goodys.

Born an raised in the city, when they got that deal, they had parties all over, House of blues, tipatinas, even sprinkled a lil bit downtown at the million dollar spot. That was the difference between CMR and NL, CMR made the city feel like we all made it, we learned about NL after he started putting out people we already knew, P was in Richmond making music, but all the artist were already ficking KL. 400 degrees told the world how new Orleans Germany down.

I was 6 years old when this and Flesh Of My Flesh came out. My dad bought me both so these were my first cds ever. At first I liked DMX first because I could understand him more cause he was from NY. I wasn’t use to the New Orleans dialect yet so when I heard Follow Me Now and Ha I didn’t like it like that cause I didn’t understand. It wasn’t until I seen the HA video that made me just pause in front of the tv and lock in. I was like damn that’s what’s going on?!?! Then Back That Azz up came out and that shit went crazy in TN. At first as a kid my fav song on there was Rich Niggaz when I got older I gotta say my fav song end up being Juvenile on Fire. Homie really went all in on that mf like didn’t let the beat breathe once! My fav beat is between Rich Niggaz and Ha.

    Few things that were incorrect
No limit deal was originally 85 15 then it lowered to 80 20 not the other way around.
Master p had the chance to sign and distribute cmr. You said he had the chance to buy no limit
Wayne and turk talked about wanting to sign to no limit... you also said it the other way around

Yo, I love your videos man. I just wanted to mention that if you were to ever make a video on any Shady Records (Eminem's label) or Aftermath Entertainment (Dr. Dre's label) album, or album that was never released, I could possibly help you out on those. I'm a big fan of both Eminem and Dre, so if you needed help with some videos relating to albums on those labels, feel free to hit me up.
