This is interesting. I’ve never heard the perspective that Mormons (members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) believe in “working their way to heaven.” I guess you’re saying that’s not right because Jesus has mercy and grace? Could you explain more?
I'm definitely not a Mormom but I also believe you do have to work your way to Heaven. Salvation is a free gift for anyone willing to work for it. It's like a highway. The highway is free to use but you have to buy the car, get in it and drive on the freeway to get to your destination. Jesus says in Revelation 22 that He will reward us according to our WORKS. He says this many times, I don't know how Christians missed this important passages.
Yeah, I guess it has to do with definitions. That's why I added so many resources in the comments. We can both say it is by grace we are saved not by works...but then have caveats and mean slightly different things...enough to really change what we mean.
He REWARDS us for our works. But We are SAVED (SALVATION) by our ‘relationship’ with Jesus, which is a free gift. So the REWARD is work based and the SALVATION is a free gift assuming that we have died to the flesh and are carrying our cross with Christ. But there aren’t specifically set rules guaranteed to get you into heaven. He even says in the gospels concerning the Pharisees (rules based people) that they “honor me with their lips (WORKS) but their hearts (RELATIONSHIP with Him) are far from me.”

When I pray and ask for help, I know he will help me after all that I do. I can't ask for help to get a job and just sit there. I need to gain skills. I need to apply. I need to go to interviews. And I guess I also feel like whatever you believe (your form of Christianity or The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints version) influences how you live. I believe in helping others when I can. And I also believe in kindness. I do this because I want to be like Christ, not necessarily because I want salvation. So... Is that considered work? Why is work bad? And I always understood that lips meant words and hands/feet meant service in the bible?
I spent about 3 hours reviewing this curriculum on the website and I’m actually surprised by your review of it. I thought it was done beautifully and it’s excellent in the way it teaches phonics, spelling, reading and writing. I am a Seventh-day Adventist and although I wish my church had as great a curriculum as this one, I appreciate that being SDA and this being written by various denominations it’s not pushing a specific religion down my throat, therefore various religious groups can use it and not feel like it interferes with their own religious views. I like that they took the morals that connect all Christians and included it in this curriculum. I’ll teach my son Bible and Biblical doctrines during our worship time at home. This is going to work perfectly for us. I would advise parents looking for a good homeschool curriculum to spend time reviewing it on the website and seeing for themselves. The PDF’s are free to download and they’ll have a chance to see for themselves if it’ll be a good fit for their family or not. Very affordable, too if you decide to purchase the physical material! ❤
I love their curriculum. We do Bible studies outside of their curriculum and TGATB fills the educational needs set on us by our state. I value that everyone gets to decide what works for their homeschool. This is a clear win for ours.
As a reborn Christian myself, we love TGATB. We do our own Bible studies and don't need a curriculum for that. I think that's a big draw for TGATB because people of many different denominations can use this without having doctrinal discrepancies and train up their children in the way they should go themselves and not have a curriculum do it for them.

I don't need, or want, my kids' lanuage arts or math curriculum to do the work for me of teaching my kids theology. That's my responsibility as a parent. I think infusing it into the curriculum across the board can breed complacency.
@@MLAustin5 we should be indoctrinating (teaching doctrine to) our children. For Christian homeschooling parents, that's entirely the point. The early church was pretty radical. It's always a red flag when someone makes excuses to not be like the early church ❤️
As a homeschooling parent for 17 years, we know all about supplementation. If we find a great curriculum we love, but it is missing something we want to teach, or it is weak in one area or doesn’t address a subject we want to include, but we still love the original curriculum, we supplement. It’s a major part of home education and making our home education what we want it to be. We absolutely adore and love The Good and The Beautiful, we’ve been using it for years and I’ve tried just about everything out there. It’s a perfect fit for our family who range in grades from 1st grade to 12th. Our kids enjoy this more than any other, it is deep and fun at the same time. It has an overall theme of loving and embracing what is good and right in the world, focusing on beauty and conviction, honors faith and God, but does not include full on Bible lessons or study. We supplement that. I’m responsible to teach my kids about God, not a curriculum, so I teach my kiddos that my own way.
While I agree about the differences between mormonism and true Christianity, the curriculum absolutely incorporates our Christian values and scripture. It talks about God often and uses only the Bible (kjv), not any of the extra works found in mormonism or any other religions. The Bible is the common denominator in all the religions reviewers claim. We have done 3 levels so far. Also, my husbands entire family is mormon and we are not, so I know real differences and all about their separate practices, beliefs and works that don't align with our Christian Biblical beliefs. But it's definitely a Christ centered curriculum. We use a separate Bible study and we also use Christian science and history curriculum (answers in genesis and notgrass currently). I wouldn't expect a single curriculum to be the base of Biblical studies. Those lessons should have their own place, a true Bible study. I think this review was done with good intentions, but being that you said you have not actually used it yourself, I don't think you should be reviewing it to discredit it. There's no underlying religious influences, just the Bible.

@@howtohomeschool I’ve read parts of the Quran, and so I can tell you precisely what’s wrong with it. I don’t need to participate in hearsay and gossip on what I’ve heard others say. That’s the difference between giving a first hand response/review, it’s based on your factual witness. And scripture draws a hard line on giving witness testimonies right? With the example of the Quran, I am a significantly better Apologist because of my direct lived experiences with their doctrine. My arguments against it hold water because they are factual and can be sited within the Quran. You dancing around hearsay and generalities, won’t convince anyone anything. But again, TGATB curriculums are not in the same wheelhouse at all, as the Quran. With the Quran we are speaking about Apologetics and in defense of Scripture, in regards to an opposing religion. With Homeschool curriculums, and Christian based ones, you are straining the gnat within the Church…. and perhaps that deserves significantly more pause and reflecting wisdom, before launching that attack. Christian’s should never launch attack on other Christian’s unless they can bonafide prove they are committing full biblical heresy. And to be able to prove and validate your public attack on them, you need to be an independent line of witness bringing legitimate receipts. Then debatably, it would also be behooving to follow biblical commands on not entertaining an accusation either unless you bring 2-3 additional independent witnesses along with you. I think overall it’s playing with fire to launch an attack towards other Christian’s in any way, unless you can prove heresy specifically. And that’s not my standard, that’s from scripture.
The reason there are people of so many denominations is to ensure that there aren't any one denomination pushing their ideas..... I love this curriculum. As my child's mother, I want to be the one to teach my child about who Yeshua is by showing her His love every day. School curriculum that backs me up is nice...TGATB does that by showing my daughter that it too acknowledges Yahweh. We do Bible stories and we pray together.
I grew up in the public school, went to public university, and had a very minuscule amount of Jesus in my life. But guess what? Jesus found me anyway ❤ He is SO much bigger than what curriculum you use. Is there a point in scaring parents away from a product that could work for their child because it “might not have enough Jesus?” Or does it just make us feel righteous when we do so? Do we really think kids can’t know Jesus because of their math book? So many people in the homeschooling community come after this company, that you would think they are out promoting satan. We give our children very little credit if we think that their salvation will come from ideas from a math or language arts book. We also give Jesus very little credit.
I wouldn't like my kids to think it's Christian when it's not. So it's not just an issue of absence of the gospel but it's actually misleading. You're right that God can spread faith without anyone....but he also uses word and people's words as his way of spreading the gospel. If a child is going to use curriculum for hours each day, it really should have the gospel in it! A secular curriculum isn't neutral....it's anti Christian. Jesus said You're either for me or against me. I appreciate your comment though. It made me think 🤔
Thank you both for your comments. It also made me think. I'm Catholic, and my husband is Christian, and we want to start our kids in homeschooling. But he would be home. Only because he was injured at work. And I'm in the service. So financially, this is where we are at. We both went to public schools. My older siblings went to public and to private Catholic schools. They told me there is a difference in respect and discipline. I would love my children to go to private Catholic schools. But of course, it's not within our means. I do prefer, not online, but yes, assistance for parents and lots of hands-on. Only because I see that is how my husband and I learn best, and most likely, our children will as well. But it would be amazing if they had religion included. When my husband and I met. I told him I wanted my future children to learn and go to both services for Catholic and Christian. I wanted them to be baptized, have a holly communion, and be confirmed. This was me. And he agreed. The research continues, and thank you to @hometohomeschools.

a curriculum does not need to be gospel focused to be christian. being christian can simply be about the various values christ spoke about. if you want a gospel centered curriculum then you probably want something that is very in your face about it, and probably very evangelical. probably something like BJU, ACE, perhaps abeka. there's nothing wrong with those curriculums either, though i've never used BJU personally. being LDS does not mean someone is not christian. if someone is a christian or not, Jesus will know it by their heart. and that's between them and God, not you or anyone else...just saying.
Being a Mormon by definition is identifying outside evangelicalism. Mormons and evangelical Christians are NOT the same. You wanna see a Mormon lose their cool, after they tell you that they are Christians too? Ask them who Joseph smith is and whether or not he is a false prophet.

I’m with my kids 24/7, I teach them day and night and talk about God all the time. I don’t depend on or expect any curriculum to do it. ❤
I understand that Mormons and Christians have different beliefs, but the on-going spreading of misinformation about The Good and the Beautiful is disheartening. While Jenny Phillips, the owner of the company, is a Mormon, she has stated multiple times that the curriculum writers and team come from all different faith backgrounds. All curriculum is reviewed by diverse pilot families, many editors, expert reviewers, and more to ensure that it is truly non-denominational. Of course Jenny is involved and directing projects, but she is not personally writing hardly any of the curriculum. There are thousands of Christians who use the curriculum and love it, and they haven't found anything that contradicts Christian beliefs.
I guess that's why I provide all the resources below the video. I would (as the gospel coalition does) say Mormonism (and the JWs) is a different religion. So I'd disagree with Jenny on this. Thanks for commenting
I am not seeing any misinformation. As Christian s we are told not to be connected to false teachers. That would also include faiths that add to the word of God which Mormonism does. We can't teach our kids to use this "Christian" curriculum while following scripture.

I'm LDS, and this curriculum doesn't push our beliefs on anyone. It's our job, as parents to add the religious elements. Also, we do study the Bible frequently. The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. We worship Jesus Christ. Our entire belief system is centered on Him. While our terminology may be unique to other christian faiths, we are still considered Christian. The definition of Christianity, is someone who worships and follows Christ. The the term was originally coined by Roman soldiers, as a derogatory way to distinguish people who followed His teachings. None of us are the original Christians, because we obviously don't live that long. ALL of us are modern Christians, and that's what matters. Lets remember to love and respect eachother as followers of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Who died and suffered for ALL mankind. 🤍
You're right, it doesn't push LDS beleifs. I mentioned that in the video. I guess my issue is with the gospel not being the ABCs of the curriculum. And also, I find it LDS theology and conversations difficult as if you look at the terms we use for various things - they're often re-defined in the LDS church. So we can be saying the same things, but meaning different things. That's why I put so many resources in the video itself. I absolutely have loved every Mormon person I've met. We had many Mormons to our place for tea and I think they're gorgeous. But we do have very different theology at the core.
I’m a Latter-day Saint and I just wanted to add to the conversation that we absolutely agree with you about the gospel being all about JESUS!! We believe that He came to save us. We believe that we can’t be saved without him. Yes, we also believe that there has to be effort on our part to keep the commandments and repent, but at the end of our lives, even if we’ve tried our very best, we can’t make it without our Savior. We love and worship Him. ❤

I am not having them in the school system ever. Especially what’s going on these days I don’t think so. I want them to have not miss going to the beach in the summer, 20 years ago it was so the weather. My mom took me out of summer school it was raining 🌧️ a lot . I kept saying beach constantly. My speech wasn’t so great at the time . My mom was like that’s it. My mom marked it as summer reck. That was back in 03. I ll make up my own summer wreck schedule, important stuff for 1st grade summer wreck , knowing ur parents cell phone number zip code, first last, no I ll not have a land line. Those days re” gone. Work on shoe ting, VBS, going to camp , I ll not have their summers wasted like mine were. Public school no thanks .

All of this terminology suggests we are part of his family.. and that maybe I could grow up to be like my Father.. I’m so thankful for the plan of salvation that makes sense of everything. Why we are here, where we came from and what is to come. Don’t limit what God has planned for you, he is God after all.. we should be careful in saying what he can and cannot do. The religions you listed are not writers of the curriculum but reviewers to make sure there is no doctrine in the curriculum. It's not up to the curriculum to teach your kids the doctrine you believe. That is your job.
Can you clarify what you mean when you say 'to make sure there is no doctrine in the curriculum'? If this is supposed to be a Christian curriculum, why doesn't it have doctrine? I was genuinely just a bit confused. Also, as part of your role as a parent, aren't you supposed to pick a good curriculum? And wouldn't you want a curriculum that aligns with your faith? I am a born again, Bible believing christian and we use some of TGTB. My biggest reason is because of the version on the Bible they use. The origianl KJV 1611 Bible is used. We do Bible studies and are very invovled in our church, so for us the lack of actual christian teaching is not an issue.

We love the good and the beautiful! It’s been so helpful to my kiddos and to me as an open and go teaching tool. Lessons about God happen all through out the day and personal devotions are done daily.

We recently stopped using TGTB. While we are Christians; not all of our curriculum is Christ centered. But, I don’t like how TGTB feels very surface level on Christianity. We’ve used various Christian centered curriculum and they don’t feel surface level. While I don’t expect a curriculum to align with my beliefs; I also don’t want it to feel surface level. Great video! Love your input!
I totally respect you not wanting to use the TGTB because you want it to have more content about Jesus in the curriculum, but what I don't understand is why videos like this are made. If it isn't a good fit for your family, then don't use it. I don't understand why these kind of videos are made to cast shade on the beliefs of a certain religion. I can see you are trying to be respectful, but why make tbe video at all. If you tried the curriculum for your child and it wasn't a good fit and you are reviewing it honestly, then great. If one of the critiques was you want even more Christian content in it and it didn't have enough, then that is understandable. I would never think to make a video throwing shade on another person's religious beliefs. I just don't get it🤷♀️. If the curriculum was made by a different Christian faith, then someone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I highly doubt this video would be made.
If you read about the apostle Paul, he spent a lot of time combating heresy. So it's a matter of a different religion, not just a different denomination. That's where I'm coming from. But very much appreciate your comment.

Absolutely LOVE that you made this video. The gospel should be central to christian living and sadly its overlooking or disregarded. Love your boldness and that you are not ashamed of the gospel for it IS the power unto salvation for all who believe.
The reason I chose" The Good and the Beautiful" is because they don't teach Bible. I teach My children the Bible. I take my children to Sunday School , and to church and pray with them and go to prayer at church. I read everything ahead of time and then teach it. If your buying curriculum to teach your kids the Bible, then you are not doing what the bible says. Proverbs: 22:6. Add bible study to your studies.
It is absolutely the parents job to teach their children the Bible. Not a curriculum's, or even a church's job. But part of a parents decisions include finding a good church and curriculum for their child. Assuming that someone is being lazy in teaching their children Scripture because they are convicted that solid doctrine in their curriculum, that their child uses for several hours every day, is important, is just as silly as assuming that someone who uses a program like TGATB, or a secular program, or even sending them to regular school is neglecting their child's spiritual development. I teach my children the Bible, and I choose to use a curriculum that reinforces that teaching.
As a Christian - a strict reformed leaning Christian. Who loves Jesus Christ more than life itself… the GATB works for us. I do wish there was as good of curriculums that were truly Christian but there aren’t.. I’ve not been able to to find anything that is open and go and teaches a rigorous yet easy to understand curriculum .. that doesn’t take HOURS a day.. for one subject… GATB fills the need … however it’s not a Bible curriculum- we just read our bibles, teach our kids to read their bibles and teach good sound theology
We are reformed christians as well. We've used many curricula over the years. My younger son only used Horizon and Abeka. Even with Abeka I don't agree with everything they teach about the bible. I am considering GATB for Math.
I think it’s wholesome and keeps all the garbage out. I would have never felt it was trying to teach my child to be a Mormon or any other thing you just listed off. My jaw literally dropped and made me start laughing when I heard you say that. This just starts to get ridiculous. It’s not bashing anyone or anything at all or turning a child into anything bad. People need to quit being so hyper-sensitive to everything and be glad we don’t have to stick our kids into public schools where they will learn everything bad and come home (IF they continue to come home) and cuss out the parents and rob someone blind because they learn it there.

I appreciate TGTB curriculum. I can trust that it's going to be pure and no nonsense at an affordable price. We use our own Bible curriculum and WE make our homeschool Christ centered. I don't look for a curriculum to do that for me. ☺️
You wouldn’t use the curriculum but you said in another video that it’s ok to allow our kids to spend time with other kids that don’t believe like us and then talk to our kids about the things they said and why we don’t say those things. What’s the difference here?! We even say sometimes it’s ok if you can’t homeschool to send them to public school where the curriculums aren’t Christian at all 🤔

You're always supposed to be by your children's side when they're with others. In the case I was talking about, I was able to give two bibles to the girls. They had a hot chocolate with me and did Bible study with us. It was delightful. Learning and socialization is on our ground and should be what we choose as parents. I hope that helps. I wouldn't just let my kids run off to another persons house and be influenced by them.
I'm also a Christian mom. For me, my child's heart comes before academics, and that's why we have devotion time before "school work." The education of my child is a Christian education. However, it doesn't mean that every single page of the work my child does has to have the word "Jesus or God" on it. But, I am the one who can point my child to Jesus in everything we do. Academics are not intrinsically attached to values and morals. We are the ones who can model values and morals as Christians, not a curriculum. We should be praying to God for this company, which is an amazing company, for Him to point them to the truth. I love TGTB. My child does, too. It's academically robust, and I also did a deep research about their philosophy, and mostly, where are they trying to introduce theirs ideas, they are very clear about it and where you can find these ideas, as you did too. We can definitely have different opinions, and we have so many options for all tastes. I agree with you. Those are religions. However, we can have the best and most Christian curriculum with God and Jesus in every single page, but if God has not the first place into our hearts, the curriculum is pointless. Let's build each other for the kingdom of God instead of pointing how Christians are we because we use a "x or y curriculum."" And by the way, most of the videos you showed, they stopped using TGBT because it was too difficult for their children, and now they are stopping because the new math and language arts are not as robust as before.
Taking GATB out of the equation specifically, if any curriculum wasn’t overtly or even subtly teaching false religion but was more generic, yet worked for a child, why not use it and supplement with Bible lessons that teach what you want your kids to know? What I mean is should we rely on the curriculum to teach our kids the gospel? A lot of the sources you promote are more generic like the GATB. I’m not trying to criticize. I’m just curious why you single out the GATB and not other generic Christian programs.
If you're getting curriculum, why not make it gospel-centred. If they do hours of it everyday, surely it's a great opportunity to teach them about Christ. I reckon I wouldn't even call TGATB Christian, DE. That's my problem with it. It says it's Christian. But it's not.
@@howtohomeschool I agree that it’s not “Christian” but more like leaning basic generic Christian principles in order to not run afoul of the wide swath of ideas in Christendom. My point was more that there are a lot of curriculum companies that do this, including some others you’ve promoted. Additionally, there are folks like me who have found problematic teachings in every single curriculum we’ve ever tried. I don’t agree doctrinally with all of the teachings and beliefs of any company. I want to be a Christian and only a Christian who believes in the full authority and infallibility of Scripture. For those reasons, I prefer curriculum with a more generic approach that doesn’t instill any particular doctrine. I vet it to make sure it doesn’t teach that, yet the generic Christian principle approach (which I still vet) at least allows us to avoid worldly and/or anti-Christian curriculum while being able to focus on doctrinal matters in a more specific, personal manner-not relying on curriculum to do it. I’m not trying to sound argumentative, and I fully support your decision for your family. I just wanted to point out that others may choose the GATB (and others like it) to accomplish the same broader goals that you want by avoiding it. And as an aside, I am not a GATB apologist, and I’m not advocating for them. I’m just advocating for the idea that there is a place in the toolbox for many families for generalized Christian principles and/or “good moral” style curriculum. ❤️
We use it and we are Catholic. Just because it may not work for you religious wise doesn’t mean it’s not enough for others. That is why I live the fact that we all have choices as to what works best for each family.

I’ve been a christian my whole life (32 years). Went to public school all the way to college. I NEVER had a christian class. My knowledge from the bible comes from me reading the bible, not even from going every sunday to church. Im using TGATB curriculum form my 3 year-old and I’m supplementing the bible class from Abeka because as a parent is my responsibility to teach my children young about God. If I see in the future something with a non-christian theology in any curriculum I will swap to another, meanwhile school is school and I will teach my kid about God, just the way I learned.
So it is actually something to think about that secular is actually better than decieved "Christian" . With secular you know they aren't teaching about God. With the good and the beautiful you are by using it telling your child you agree that other religions are the same faith. This can cause very dangerous confusion and is one of day and biggest tricks.

We’re three weeks in and everyone is enjoying it. We went with Gods Big Story from Generations for our reading curriculum.
This is your brand of Christianity. Many of us worship differently. I'm not Mormon but there are no quotes which go against the gospel of Jesus, even the few by Mormons. What this curriculum does is concentrate on raising kind and loving children and building up the importance of families and being grateful for God's gifts of nature.
Jesus tells us to have nothing to do with false teaching. Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses and Seventh day Adventist add to God's word. It is following Christ to separate ourselves from those who pervert His word.

However, how is this different from using secular content to teach our children about the SAVIOR of the world? This world is so interesting that when you actually point out an important point people get defensive… The power is always in the details… Teaching children “general concepts of GOD” teaches them to be lukewarm. The Bible did warn us that satan comes as an angel of Light. That is, he presents himself like that of JESUS but on closer inspection you realize 😮. I also felt a conviction to use a more Gospel-centered curriculum, one that aligns with my beliefs and includes more bible reading and memorization, specifically in the subjects of science and history. I feel with these subjects it is so important to be biblically grounded. So this year, we continued using TGAB for language arts and math only, and switched to Masterbooks for Bible, science, and history. So far I am so pleased with the new curriculum and love the Bible stories and scripture incorporated in the lessons. Using a mixture of curriculum provides a nice balance for us 🤍
I don't rely on my homeschool curriculum to teach my son about the Word of God. I incorporate that into our program, but find it unrealistic to expect a math or language arts curriculum to teach the fundamentals of salvation. Additionally, with so many views and doctrines within the Christian faith, which doctrine should be intertwined with such curricula? I'm thankful for TGATB weaving in godly principles throughout the basic curricula they offer. Frankly, I don't trust any curriculum to teach my child about the Bible. As a believer, that is my husband's and my responsibility. Ephesians 6:4; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 4:9-10; Isaiah 38:19. God bless you.

Hi, do you know about ACE PACE ? I’m about to homeschool 3 kids ( 6th, 4th and pre-K) we have in mind using Abeka . A friend was recommending ACE but I haven’t done my research or know anything about ACE.
TGTB is Bible-based and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that the Bible is true and that they are saved ONlY through the grace of Jesus Christ, who atoned for our sins and died on the cross so that we can be resurrected and forgiven of our sins. I'm pretty sure all Christians believe that faith is necessary for salvation. Since faith is a "work", then yes, we are saved by our work. I feel bad for people who reject this curriculum only because the owner is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That's a very bigoted view of the world.
So back to Easy Peasy. Does it incorporate the Bible? I initially was doing that with my son his first year homeschooling. But I saw a video from you saying it isn’t really Christian or anything so I ended up doing another curriculum. Is Easy Peasy like just on track? Or is it ahead?
Many secular people do it. That tells me there isn't a lot of gospel-content. I've also had some people comment on my channel there isn't a lot of Christian content. Perhaps that's because she uses secular resources like Khan Academy. But she does promote Creationism in it and Christianity. I
Yes you could. I guess my point is it's no better than a secular curriculum in some ways. And I look for a truly Christian curriculum when I research programs as I feel I'm so stupid that I need to hear the gospel on every occasion I can ...and my kids are like me. But it’s not claiming to be a bible study guide. It’s general curriculum with Christian values. I don’t see what would be wrong with using it and adding bible study from another source.

Which curriculum would you consider worth teaching in order to teach the gospel? I’d imagine that it wouldn’t have much academia since it’s main base is theological, but what about all the other subjects? I was hoping for some recommendations.
Hi Audri. Thanks for your comment. This Curriculum claims to be 'non-denominational Christian'. But to be Christian as I explained in the video would mean the gospel is referenced often in the curriculum materials. I don't think this happens enough even in the most solid homeschool curriculum materials or there! But you know, this is my preference. If you want a rigorous Christian curriculum, Veritas Press is very good. Also BJU Press and Heart of Dakota.
Thank you for making this video! I was one of the people who asked about it. We are Muslim so this won't be an issue for us. When using a Christian curriculum I use any discrepancies in doctrine as a teachable moment to explain differences (and similarities, as there are more similarities than differences!) between our beliefs. I imagine she designed it this way so more people could use it and benefit from the free pdf version.
@katielarsen TGATB content is very denominationally neutral, I’m a Christian mother and I have found no conflicts in 3 years with them. I would say, if I’m thinking from the Muslim perspective, there has been a character in our math book that wears a hijab. It doesn’t mention anything that direction, but as a Christian I definitely noticed that little girl. Theologically, they point to God and Him creating all things, and also encourage good moral habits that align with my doctrine like love and grace, etc. But I thought from your perspective you might also enjoy the little girl in a hijab. I would say overall they have made a clear effort to make their content culturally well rounded, but doctrinally it will be Christian, but so light hearted in its delivery that’s really age appropriate for little ones. Doing things like compelling them towards honesty and grace in their own behavior. Hope that helps! 🙏🏽♥️
@@anythingbutmyfullname I’m not really sure what you’re trying to ask me. Academically speaking all of their curriculums are significantly higher than anything else I have seen personally. I have found every subject to be years ahead of what I know the topic typically is doing. But related to that, I spend a lot of time slowing down a bit, and giving extra explanation in my sons learning style, and or also accepting that we may not finish a book that year because it’s just too advanced sometimes. I don’t have a pro and con list for you. It’s a great Christian based curriculum. It’s colorful, engaging, has a lot of games and stories. My oldest son who is very high energy and masculine/rowdy generally enjoys them.
As a family of a different faith, I was very happy to be able to use the academics of this curriculum without having too much religious views discussions. I supplement religion studies outside of math and ELA and we dive deep enough, so it is personally ok for it not to be a part of every subject. Really enjoyed TGATB for its academics and my son learned to read well through the K and level 1 :)

Christianity is offensive (I mean Christianity says that unless we repent of our great debt of sin and trust in Jesus we will have to pay for them [in hell], but we can trust Jesus to do that for us and go to heaven with him forever...it's a free gift). Jesus also said Christianity was offensive...that's why the Bible records so many people walking away from him...it demands a response. So if TGATB curriculum isn't offensive to you by making these demands on you and making you uncomfortable as someone who isn't a Christian and not saved, it's obviously not Christian. Because Christianity (as many people completely re-define these days) isn't about being nice (although loving our enemies and doing good to those who hurt us is core doctrine). We want to be loving over being nice. We want to sometimes upset people to save them from further hurt in the afterlife... this is true love. Being okay with an uncomfortable conversation even if it won't make you friends but will love others. This is what a lot of people who've used it have found (read the comments below if you're interested). Thank you dear friend for commenting. I always love hearing from my viewers. That's why we are the parents to teach them about Jesus and the Gospel. If she start teaching much about it in the curriculum not many will want to use the curriculum to teach their kids other things beside the gospel. And is that's why there's different denominations and religions using it. Looks like is pure and nice for the kids. LET'S DO TEACH OUR KIDS ABOUT JESUS AND THE GOSPEL MORE AT HOME AS you want a curriculum do it. That's why we have so many Christian books and videos and movies parents at home. And our leaders in our religion churches etc etc.
Though saying we want our curriculum to teach the gospel doesn't mean we stop teaching it to them outside the curriculum. RATHER, it gives us more opportunities to talk about the gospel, adn more opportunities for our children to think how the gospel relates to everyday life and academic work. Teaching the gospel in a 'Christian' curriculum isn't a big ask.
As a Christ centered Christian, who has used TGATB curriculum for almost a year now, I can assure anyone who is concerned that I have yet to find anything in our books that teaches anything misleading about God or Jesus ( I am also of the belief that though many other groups think they worship the same God as me, I must respectfully disagree with them) , because it is true that the makers of these books intentionally tried to focus more of the principles of kindness, peace, and generally anything that aligns with Philippians 4:8. Which gives us as Christian a clear instruction to focus on “whatsoever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy…” . So while the makers actual intentions were to be as neutral as possible to not push any one doctrine, I think God had found a way to insert exactly what he wants in these books. I think it’s important to remember that God’s wisdom shouldn’t just be in our minds but in our hearts. And that having a discerning heart focused on God also means learning and being able to also see God and his works in places that are not directly and obviously shouting his name. The birds, the rain, and the trees may not speak with words but God’s beauty, purity, and truth can be seen by anyone who knows how to see and listen with a God centered heart. I think it’s important to teach children how to feel God in the world around them because there will be times in their lives where it may be hard to listen or hear with their minds. It may feel like God isn’t present because they aren’t getting the answers they were expecting, or because the pressures “of the world” are pressing down on them (as they once did on Job) and trying to overwhelm their senses to drown God out. But a discerning heart can find God even in the darkest of times. “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil for you are with me” Psalms 23:4. So with all that in mind I find TGATB curriculum to be a highly useful tool for teaching children how to see God in places that one might not even think to look at first (like a quadratic equation).
I concur, and you’ve explained it very well. We’ve heard so much about today’s Christian curricula not having enough about the Gospel of Christ in it, or that its too weak, which is why we created Fetch The Goodness, which teaches 100% of the good news of the Gospel and we do this through animations, podcasts, curricula, live events and puppetry for children 12 and under. We’re working on a television series currently, inside our FTG Studio. Then we’ll launch everything at the same time.
We love the Good and the Beautiful. Math and LA is just that I mean Math and LA. we learn about Jesus and creation through Creation science and the bible and for this reason we go to a different curriculum for that. We like answer in Genesis Master Books. Did you know that their books writer come from other different religions background? All with the same Tho Christian faith base. So I dont fully agree with this video.
I wonder if there is a curriculum that is set up similarly but teaches the bible. I am looking into TGATB Math. I am asking myself if using this curriculum as a Christian would be any different from using a secular Math curriculum like Saxon Math.
Saxon is a good program. But, yes, it's secular. I'm not sure about it's 'Christian twin' though. I like Generations, Masterbooks, BJU and Abeka for Math.
It's tough when there are some nice things about a curriculum, especially for ease of use, and beauty, but in the long run, I think it's best to use what is best for our children, that will reflect the truth from the Bible, no matter how easy or beautiful another choice is. I'd prefer to have plain black and white pages of schoolwork, that teach truth and help to lead my children in the right direction. I can also then personally tailor the adding of different books that surround them with a wealth of knowledge, that I could never find in any curriculum alone. I know we can never judge another person, because none of us, except the Father in Heaven, have the authority to do that. But sometimes we have to look beyond what appears easy and beautiful and choose wisely. Thank you so much for sharing. It's best to be aware so that we can all make informed decisions.

After reading into what the mormans believe exactly, I can see why people dont want to use the curriculum. We love the curriculum, and as long as they aren't pushing their beliefs in it (minus good morals because don't we want our kids to have high moral character?), I am ok with using it.
I was convicted at the end of last year to stop using it after 2-3 years and started easy peasy homeschool which lead me to find your channel whilst searching for info on it thankfully!

My boyfriend & I check a lot to see they changed nope they still teach the Bible they advise against the Good & the beautiful homeschooling curriculum HSLDA same way. My boyfriend & I ll stay clear of the good & the beautiful thanks for the warning ⚠️ this helps a lot cause I am planning on homeschooling once married & have kids.. Im struggling with this. We have been using Abeka Academy and we love how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in the fabric of every class. My daughter (5) has been sharing the gospel with complete strangers I credit Abeka with being able to break it down so great for her to understand. She loves Jesus! However, the price has went up and now I’m looking into other curriculums. I have a lot of friends who use the good and the beautiful, but for some reason I always felt off about it.
And see I love TGTB because I don’t want my kids curriculum to teach them doctrine. That is my job and doesn’t belong in a math lesson. I know others don’t agree and that’s ok. Furthermore, I’m sorry you miss understood what we who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe. We absolutely believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that he is the only way to return to heaven.
Just subscribed. The one thing I love about homeschooling, is that we get to give our children a variety of what we see as the best curriculum for them. For us that is Christ centered, and varies per subject. We definitely love the extra opportunity to teach about Jesus that is incorporated into the curriculum we have chosen. Jesus, character, serving, love and truth. A good curriculum is essential to the whole reason we are doing this in the first place.
People… if you are expecting a CURRICULUM to teach your kids about God then you are not better off than sending them to public school. What about you spend family time studying your bible? I have been using with my kids, and I haven’t seem any LDS teaching.

I don't want them to learn about God and then stop for 3 hours while they learn curriculum. That wouldn't make sense to me. Isn't, at the core of it, education supposed to be about teaching our kids about God? Learning to read, write and do arithmetic are means to that end.
@@howtohomeschool exactly my point, a parent should be able to use things and bring God to the table. Just because something doesn’t use God in it doesn’t mean a parent is not able to bring it. Homeschool just like Christianity is a life long. We won’t always find God in everything but we can add it. So if the tgtb doesn’t have God then you have conversations with your kids about what you are learning. I don’t care if you use it or not. The point is, you make it look like if somebody else is using it then they are bad Christian’s. Not ok.
This is why I love homeschooling so much. We as parents get to choose what resources we use in our homeschool, and that is so amazing! For myself personally, I'd rather be the one teaching my kids when it comes to our faith, and I don't need it to be intertwined into every Math or LA lesson. Also, the fact that it's a free to print curriculum has blessed our family so much during this season when money is tight, and at this point it's either a free curriculum or we use public school online. Because of the indoctrination in our schools in America, in my opinion, the latter is more harmful. I personally felt curriculum such as Abeka and BJU go too far on the faith side of things, and that's a huge reason I didn't continue on with those programs. For some families, the lack of Christianity or Jesus in the curriculum isn't a huge deal breaker, and it allows families from many backgrounds to use it.

I loved your insights and love your desire to have a gospel-centered curriculum but as I listened I realized you have a misconception of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a member of this church and Everything you said about Jesus is exactly what we believe! Jesus is the center of our church. We believe He leads it, just as He led His church while on the earth. We believe He lives, not just lived. We believe He guides us, not just guided us. We believe He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and thus still works through prophets as He always did throughout the history of the world. We believe salvation comes through Him, and Him alone (not through our works-although as the New Testament states “faith without works is dead” so true sincere faith will lead to good fruits and works). I invite you to study our gospel (read the Book of Mormon, listen to General Conference…) and then you will be more able to correctly inform others about us. Thank you!❤

Correction to your statement of its Mormon. It is the church of Jesus Christ of later day saints not the church of mormon. It’s his church not Mormon. Yes we have The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and goes hand in hand with the bible. The good and the beautiful is a simple way of home schooling without the propaganda or agendas from the evil of today. Gospel should already be lived and learnt in the home.
I think ppl outside the church often say Mormon but I've read they don't like being called this anymore. And looking at the history this group has changed its rhetoric over the last 20 years. They never called themselves Christian, then they wanted to start doing this in the last few years/20 years. I guess you'd say we do propaganda. We'd say you do it. It depends how we define this too. It all comes down to definitions...what is the gospel...and what are the meanings within the meanings. That's why I linked so many resources in the comments. I've realized with some people you can say certain theological terms and mean completely different things. God bless dear friend. As a Muslim, i love the TGTB, as it is a great curriculum education wise. We just cross out what we don't believe like "children of god", jesus etc. We love that there is none of that they/them or weird sexual stuff like the teachers are exposing them to.
I think that's what I mean. If it doesn't offend anyone, is it really appropriate to call it a 'Christian curriculum'? Jesus said his words were offensive. So if this curriculum isn't offensive and even pleases Muslims (I mean that's great for you!), but it doesn't make it a very good 'Christian curriculum'. Really appreciate you commenting :)
I am a Muslim mama who also uses TGTB. I filter it through our Islamic lens. I understand that this curriculum just touches the surface of Christianity, which is why we Muslims have no issue using it.For our beliefs, we don’t supplement because we already have a separate core Islamic curriculum to discuss our faith alone. We have a course to teach our kids the five daily prayers, Quran recitation and memorization, and we also teach Arabic.I suggest you supplement your beliefs. TGTB has made my life easier; I just cross out what's unnecessary and add my own Islamic content.I supplement with Brave Writer, handwriting, and some phonics programs. You could say TGTB serves as our core language arts curriculum for now.
As a homeschooling mom who simply adores Generations curriculum bc of it's strong Christian, Jesus focused curriculum...we will still use TGTB LA bc it holds its own beauty as a language arts program. The pictures are lovely, the morals are there and the lessons are nicely structured 🤷.

As soon as I put my 8 year old on dulingo to learn German they taught her the words for beer and wine and how to request those drinks 😂 so after that we scrapped duolingo ha ha ha. Craziness

So it has to be exactly your kind of Christianity to be good? What about the differences between Baptist and 7th day Adventists? The differences between Catholic and Protestant? Why is it always "Mormons" who get a bad rep?
The truth is none of those “ religions” she mentioned endorse it . Just a few of its members- a few homeschool moms use it, or have had a part in writing some of it, or reviewing it so that it does not favor one or the other. So, I feel your info is wrong and so is the website for making that blanket statement. & stating these “ religions” as if the pope himself has given it his mark approval. That said. This video like many other like these are so divisive. I’ve used it. Did not work for my family at all. But I would never do this type of video.
To be honest with you we don't use a curriculum. I create a plan each day and teach lessons based on my child's needs and pace, and I choose books depends on my child's strengths. We start with a prayer, Theology first, Language Arts, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Science, Geography, History, Philosopy, and Art. +other activities. So I taylor everything to suit my child's way of learning and thinking and most importantly our religion and philosophy.
It sounds like you have a lot of wisdom! Have you heard of the Real Cool History for Kids podcast? It's free but by Angela O Dell from masterbooks. We love it and Luke gets so much gospel-centered content there.
I’ve used this for my kindergartner, my first year homeschooling. It’s been great, my issue is that I don’t necessarily want to support the LDS church in any way. We do a separate Bible curriculum. I’m going to start with my asd son next year and I’m looking into master books. TGTB so far has not had anything about God other than that He is the creator of all things.
@@howtohomeschool ACE is mastery learning so starts off easier and then gets more challenging, you can also add to it. I recommend ACE, CLE and others instead of TGATB. Profits from the curriculum fund Mormon missions- spreading a false gospel.
As a member of Lds church we worship our almighty savior Jesus. We do not worship Joseph Smith. He is a prophet just like many in the Bible. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It’s not a bible and we do not worship prophets. In the Bible we have many prophets why would one think that we don’t have them still to this day

I totally understand what you are saying. I’m not sure how it is for everyone else’s homeschooling and how it’s set up but I will be honest and say that the school does not allow anything about God or anything involving the church allowed into how the advisors write it down. One day I put down that my daughter attended group night at the church and had to change it to literary studies because of the school. I’ve been finding it difficult to find the curriculum that is just right. Too much screen time doesn’t help either. I just started TGTB and so far it seems ok. I was prayed for because my mom couldn’t have anymore kids and been in the non-denomination my whole life. I’ve been to the Catholic Church because I’m also Latina. I grew up in the Lutheran church because that’s what my parents thought was best for school. I’ve been to the healing churches and seen people get healed. I’m married to a Mormon and now attend Nazarene. If I could give anyone any advice it’s to love others the way Jesus loves you. Character matters. Actions matter. Continue to spread love, light, and truth. Don’t forget to put your Armor of God on and also don’t forget to teach your little ones how to do that. Remember that the most effective teaching is prayer and speaking to God on a daily basis. Learning about the Bible is great but we also do that in church. One of the most powerful things you can teach your littles is to pray every night. Tell them that God is listening and he is always there for you. ❤️
I know this was made a long time ago, but one of my concerns with TGATB is that the founder said "god" told her to make this curriculum. I have seen about a thousand TGATB ads and that idea that "god" told her to do this vexes my Spirit. As a Christian, when a person who believes in a false god (Galatians 1:8 - Joseph Smith and LDS) says this god told her to do something it is a huge red flag. Can the true God use generic resources to bless His people, sure. Does the true God give unbelievers gifts and talents, yes. Yet, since I began my homeschool journey, I feel that I have seen a more robust apolegetic for TGATB than I have, at times, heard for Christ. It gives a "She doth protest too much" feel. My prayer is that whatever curriculum we use our zeal for the gospel, our boldness to proclaim truth, our compassion for the lost, and our discernment remains.
I suppose you have to cut out just about every other learning source from your curriculum because I guarantee that most sources are going to come from authors that are of a variety of beliefs that are different from your own. Library trip? Nope-- not unless you are going to vet every author's religious beliefs first. Trip to the science center? Nope-- too many beliefs from non believers. Movies? This is a definite nope-- the writers probably don't share your beliefs at all. See where this is going? I'm honestly curious, are you this rigorous with everything you bring into your home or just this non-denominational curriculum that was started by a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?
And you haven't ever even looked through TGATB's curriculum personally!! How can you give an honest review of something you haven't even used?! My family tried multiple curriculum's for math and LA and nothing even compared to TGATB. It has been such a blessing to our family, as have several other sources authored by people of various beliefs that are different from our own.
An analogy that I REALLY hope won't offend you, but illustrates the point: I've never looked at smoking dope, but I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea from the comments I hear others making about it. You don't have to test everything to know it won't be a good fit.
With this one, I object to them saying they're Christian when they're secular. I know I'm on point, too, because the comment has a lot of women who have used it and feel the same way as Christians about it. Regarding a library trip...yes, I made a video about exactly that issue recently. And yes, most movies aren't a great influence...some are...so we watch Christian videos. To say this is non-denomination is misleading. In this day and age, there are many fun resources you can use that encourage your faith and teach you well. Thanks for commenting, friend. You make it sound as if the curriculum is some work of the devil and that offends me greatly. I do not show my kids smutty material either, but not everything they read or watch is written by someone who shares our beliefs. An atheist could write an excellent Math curriculum and I would use it if it was good.
Also, just heard you say you’ve never used this curriculum, therefore even more of a reason as to why you shouldn’t come on and do a review video!!! You really have no idea about TGTB curriculum let alone what you’re even talking about, why try to discourage others? It’s discredits a really great curriculum and also harms your credibility! I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and frankly, I don't think you understood anything about what those missionaries said because everyday and every Sabbath we talk extensively about how we can only be saved through Jesus Christ. It is at the very core of our faith. I also don't like the good and the beautiful, but more because it's full of busy work that my son hated and at least in qt grade it underestimates kids. My son got much further in other curriculum. He's even a year ahead in math now. I'm not as concerned with finding a Christ centered curriculum because we already talk so much about Christ at home and have more specific curriculum to speak daily about Christ and the scriptures. Last year we delved into the New Testament, the year before that we studied the Old Testament. I want a homeschool curriculum that helps my kids to be well rounded, be able to see multiple perspectives, have a good balance of skills and background. I want them to easily be able to transition into college if they so choose like my siblings and I did after my mom quit teaching to homeschool us.
I guess you weren't there. But we talked with them over a series of 5 dinners for many hours would have an idea...otherwise, the missionaries would have done a very poor job. I think i realized we can both say, 'We're saved by grace alone.' but mean very different things by it! It comes down to definitions. That's why I linked so many resources under the video to show there are many differences when you look into the details. Yes, I have heard there is busy work. But unfortunately, that comes with many curricula. Fortunately, as a homeschool parent, you can skip that if you want. That's what I do with my son. We skip whole lessons in a row when he knows it. As someone who lived with a Mormon family and was surrounded by that “faith”, I am ADAMANTLY against anything that advocates the LDS religion. I am very particular about the sources of gospel centered education my children hear and have done my research extensively about this curriculum, especially because I have lived amongst this group of people and have an understanding of their agenda. This promotes NOTHING relating to LDS. The gospel itself says WE are to teach our children. So using a curriculum that is lovely with no bias whatsoever ever is amazing. It’s my job to teach the gospel. No one else’s.

This is interesting. I’ve never heard the perspective that Mormons (members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) believe in “working their way to heaven.” I guess you’re saying that’s not right because Jesus has mercy and grace? Could you explain more?
I'm definitely not a Mormom but I also believe you do have to work your way to Heaven. Salvation is a free gift for anyone willing to work for it. It's like a highway. The highway is free to use but you have to buy the car, get in it and drive on the freeway to get to your destination. Jesus says in Revelation 22 that He will reward us according to our WORKS. He says this many times, I don't know how Christians missed this important passages.
Yeah, I guess it has to do with definitions. That's why I added so many resources in the comments. We can both say it is by grace we are saved not by works...but then have caveats and mean slightly different things...enough to really change what we mean.
He REWARDS us for our works. But We are SAVED (SALVATION) by our ‘relationship’ with Jesus, which is a free gift. So the REWARD is work based and the SALVATION is a free gift assuming that we have died to the flesh and are carrying our cross with Christ. But there aren’t specifically set rules guaranteed to get you into heaven. He even says in the gospels concerning the Pharisees (rules based people) that they “honor me with their lips (WORKS) but their hearts (RELATIONSHIP with Him) are far from me.”

When I pray and ask for help, I know he will help me after all that I do. I can't ask for help to get a job and just sit there. I need to gain skills. I need to apply. I need to go to interviews. And I guess I also feel like whatever you believe (your form of Christianity or The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints version) influences how you live. I spent about 3 hours reviewing this curriculum on the website and I’m actually surprised by your review of it. I thought it was done beautifully and it’s excellent in the way it teaches phonics, spelling, reading and writing. I am a Seventh-day Adventist and although I wish my church had as great a curriculum as this one, I appreciate that being SDA and this being written by various denominations it’s not pushing a specific religion down my throat, therefore various religious groups can use it and not feel like it interferes with their own religious views. I like that they took the morals that connect all Christians and included it in this curriculum. I’ll teach my son Bible and Biblical doctrines during our worship time at home. This is going to work perfectly for us. I would advise parents looking for a good homeschool curriculum to spend time reviewing it on the website and seeing for themselves. The PDF’s are free to download and they’ll have a chance to see for themselves if it’ll be a good fit for their family or not. Very affordable, too if you decide to purchase the physical material! ❤

I love their curriculum. We do Bible studies outside of their curriculum and TGATB fills the educational needs set on us by our state. I value that everyone gets to decide what works for their homeschool. This is a clear win for ours.

As a reborn Christian myself, we love TGATB. We do our own Bible studies and don't need a curriculum for that. I think that's a big draw for TGATB because people of many different denominations can use this without having doctrinal discrepancies and train up their children in the way they should go themselves and not have a curriculum do it for them.

I don't need, or want, my kids' lanuage arts or math curriculum to do the work for me of teaching my kids theology. That's my responsibility as a parent. I think infusing it into the curriculum across the board can breed complacency.

@@MLAustin5 we should be indoctrinating (teaching doctrine to) our children. For Christian homeschooling parents, that's entirely the point. The early church was pretty radical. It's always a red flag when someone makes excuses to not be like the early church ❤️
As a homeschooling parent for 17 years, we know all about supplementation. If we find a great curriculum we love, but it is missing something we want to teach, or it is weak in one area or doesn’t address a subject we want to include, but we still love the original curriculum, we supplement. It’s a major part of home education and making our home education what we want it to be. We absolutely adore and love The Good and The Beautiful, we’ve been using it for years and I’ve tried just about everything out there. It’s a perfect fit for our family who range in grades from 1st grade to 12th. Our kids enjoy this more than any other, it is deep and fun at the same time. It has an overall theme of loving and embracing what is good and right in the world, focusing on beauty and conviction, honors faith and God, but does not include full on Bible lessons or study. We supplement that. I’m responsible to teach my kids about God, not a curriculum, so I teach my kiddos that my own way.

While I agree about the differences between mormonism and true Christianity, the curriculum absolutely incorporates our Christian values and scripture. It talks about God often and uses only the Bible (kjv), not any of the extra works found in mormonism or any other religions. The Bible is the common denominator in all the religions reviewers claim. We have done 3 levels so far. Also, my husbands entire family is mormon and we are not, so I know real differences and all about their separate practices, beliefs and works that don't align with our Christian Biblical beliefs. But it's definitely a Christ centered curriculum.
We use a separate Bible study and we also use Christian science and history curriculum (answers in genesis and notgrass currently).
I wouldn't expect a single curriculum to be the base of Biblical studies. Those lessons should have their own place, a true Bible study.
I think this review was done with good intentions, but being that you said you have not actually used it yourself, I don't think you should be reviewing it to discredit it. There's no underlying religious influences, just the Bible.

That’s the difference between giving a first hand response/review, it’s based on your factual witness. And scripture draws a hard line on giving witness testimonies right?
With the example of the Quran, I am a significantly better Apologist because of my direct lived experiences with their doctrine. My arguments against it hold water because they are factual and can be sited within the Quran. You dancing around hearsay and generalities, won’t convince anyone anything.
But again, TGATB curriculums are not in the same wheelhouse at all, as the Quran. With the Quran we are speaking about Apologetics and in defense of Scripture, in regards to an opposing religion. With Homeschool curriculums, and Christian based ones, you are straining the gnat within the Church…. and perhaps that deserves significantly more pause and reflecting wisdom, before launching that attack.
Christian’s should never launch attack on other Christian’s unless they can bonafide prove they are committing full biblical heresy. And to be able to prove and validate your public attack on them, you need to be an independent line of witness bringing legitimate receipts. Then debatably, it would also be behooving to follow biblical commands on not entertaining an accusation either unless you bring 2-3 additional independent witnesses along with you. I think overall it’s playing with fire to launch an attack towards other Christian’s in any way, unless you can prove heresy specifically. And that’s not my standard, that’s from scripture.
The reason there are people of so many denominations is to ensure that there aren't any one denomination pushing their ideas.....
I love this curriculum. As my child's mother, I want to be the one to teach my child about who Yeshua is by showing her His love every day. School curriculum that backs me up is nice...TGATB does that by showing my daughter that it too acknowledges Yahweh.

He is SO much bigger than what curriculum you use. Is there a point in scaring parents away from a product that could work for their child because it “might not have enough Jesus?”

We give our children very little credit if we think that their salvation will come from ideas from a math or language arts book. We also give Jesus very little credit.
I wouldn't like my kids to think it's Christian when it's not. So it's not just an issue of absence of the gospel but it's actually misleading.
You're right that God can spread faith without anyone....but he also uses word and people's words as his way of spreading the gospel. If a child is going to use curriculum for hours each day, it really should have the gospel in it! A secular curriculum isn't neutral....it's anti Christian. Jesus said You're either for me or against me.

Thank you both for your comments. It also made me think. I'm Catholic, and my husband is Christian, and we want to start our kids in homeschooling. But he would be home. Only because he was injured at work. And I'm in the service. So financially, this is where we are at. We both went to public schools. My older siblings went to public and to private Catholic schools. They told me there is a difference in respect and discipline. I would love my children to go to private Catholic schools. But of course, it's not within our means. I do prefer, not online, but yes, assistance for parents and lots of hands-on. Only because I see that is how my husband and I learn best, and most likely, our children will as well. But it would be amazing if they had religion included. When my husband and I met. I told him I wanted my future children to learn and go to both services for Catholic and Christian. I wanted them to be baptized, have a holly communion, and be confirmed. This was me. And he agreed. The research continues, and thank you to @hometohomeschools.

a curriculum does not need to be gospel focused to be christian. being christian can simply be about the various values christ spoke about. if you want a gospel centered curriculum then you probably want something that is very in your face about it, and probably very evangelical. probably something like BJU, ACE, perhaps abeka. there's nothing wrong with those curriculums either, though i've never used BJU personally. being LDS does not mean someone is not christian. if someone is a christian or not, Jesus will know it by their heart. and that's between them and God, not you or anyone else...just saying.

Being a Mormon by definition is identifying outside evangelicalism. Mormons and evangelical Christians are NOT the same. You wanna see a Mormon lose their cool, after they tell you that they are Christians too? Ask them who Joseph smith is and whether or not he is a false prophet.

God gives parents the job of teaching our kids about the gospel and scripture, not a curriculum. I’m with my kids 24/7, I teach them day and night and talk about God all the time. I don’t depend on or expect any curriculum to do it. ❤

I understand that Mormons and Christians have different beliefs, but the on-going spreading of misinformation about The Good and the Beautiful is disheartening. While Jenny Phillips, the owner of the company, is a Mormon, she has stated multiple times that the curriculum writers and team come from all different faith backgrounds. All curriculum is reviewed by diverse pilot families, many editors, expert reviewers, and more to ensure that it is truly non-denominational. Of course Jenny is involved and directing projects, but she is not personally writing hardly any of the curriculum. There are thousands of Christians who use the curriculum and love it, and they haven't found anything that contradicts Christian beliefs.
I guess that's why I provide all the resources below the video. I would (as the gospel coalition does) say Mormonism (and the JWs) is a different religion. So I'd disagree with Jenny on this. Thanks for commenting

I am not seeing any misinformation. As Christian s we are told not to be connected to false teachers. That would also include faiths that add to the word of God which Mormonism does. We can't teach our kids to use this "Christian" curriculum while following scripture.

I'm LDS, and this curriculum doesn't push our beliefs on anyone. It's our job, as parents to add the religious elements.
Also, we do study the Bible frequently. The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. We worship Jesus Christ. Our entire belief system is centered on Him. While our terminology may be unique to other christian faiths, we are still considered Christian. The definition of Christianity, is someone who worships and follows Christ.
The the term was originally coined by Roman soldiers, as a derogatory way to distinguish people who followed His teachings. None of us are the original Christians, because we obviously don't live that long. ALL of us are modern Christians, and that's what matters. Lets remember to love and respect eachother as followers of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Who died and suffered for ALL mankind. 🤍
You're right, it doesn't push LDS beleifs. I mentioned that in the video. I guess my issue is with the gospel not being the ABCs of the curriculum. And also, I find it LDS theology and conversations difficult as if you look at the terms we use for various things - they're often re-defined in the LDS church. So we can be saying the same things, but meaning different things. That's why I put so many resources in the video itself.
I absolutely have loved every Mormon person I've met. We had many Mormons to our place for tea and I think they're gorgeous. But we do have very different theology at the core.
We are Christians and we love TGATB. Very good!! To each his own! Blessings. This curriculum does. Or push Mormonism.

I’m a Latter-day Saint and I just wanted to add to the conversation that we absolutely agree with you about the gospel being all about JESUS!! We believe that He came to save us. We believe that we can’t be saved without him. Yes, we also believe that there has to be effort on our part to keep the commandments and repent, but at the end of our lives, even if we’ve tried our very best, we can’t make it without our Savior. We love and worship Him. ❤

On the surface it seems similar. But when you dig deep they are very different.

I am not having them in the school system ever. Especially what’s going on these days I don’t think so. I want them to have not miss going to the beach in the summer, 20 years ago it was so the weather. My mom took me out of summer school it was raining 🌧️ a lot . I kept saying beach constantly. My speech wasn’t so great at the time . My mom was like that’s it. My mom marked it as summer reck. That was back in 03. I ll make up my own summer wreck schedule, important stuff for 1st grade summer wreck , knowing ur parents cell phone number zip code, first last, no I ll not have a land line. Those days re” gone. Work on shoe ting, VBS, going to camp , I ll not have their summers wasted like mine were. Public school no thanks .

The religions you listed are not writers of the curriculum but reviewers to make sure there is no doctrine in the curriculum. It's not up to the curriculum to teach your kids the doctrine you believe. That is your job.
Can you clarify what you mean when you say 'to make sure there is no doctrine in the curriculum'? If this is supposed to be a Christian curriculum, why doesn't it have doctrine? I was genuinely just a bit confused.
Also, as part of your role as a parent, aren't you supposed to pick a good curriculum? And wouldn't you want a curriculum that aligns with your faith?

I am a born again, Bible believing christian and we use some of TGTB. My biggest reason is because of the version on the Bible they use. The origianl KJV 1611 Bible is used. We do Bible studies and are very invovled in our church, so for us the lack of actual christian teaching is not an issue.

We love the good and the beautiful! It’s been so helpful to my kiddos and to me as an open and go teaching tool. Lessons about God happen all through out the day and personal devotions are done daily.

We recently stopped using TGTB. While we are Christians; not all of our curriculum is Christ centered. But, I don’t like how TGTB feels very surface level on Christianity. We’ve used various Christian centered curriculum and they don’t feel surface level. While I don’t expect a curriculum to align with my beliefs; I also don’t want it to feel surface level. I totally respect you not wanting to use the TGTB because you want it to have more content about Jesus in the curriculum, but what I don't understand is why videos like this are made. If it isn't a good fit for your family, then don't use it. I don't understand why these kind of videos are made to cast shade on the beliefs of a certain religion. I can see you are trying to be respectful, but why make tbe video at all. If you tried the curriculum for your child and it wasn't a good fit and you are reviewing it honestly, then great. If one of the critiques was you want even more Christian content in it and it didn't have enough, then that is understandable. I would never think to make a video throwing shade on another person's religious beliefs. I just don't get it🤷♀️. If the curriculum was made by a different Christian faith, then someone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I highly doubt this video would be made.

If you read about the apostle Paul, he spent a lot of time combating heresy. So it's a matter of a different religion, not just a different denomination. That's where I'm coming from. But very much appreciate your comment.

The reason I chose" The Good and the Beautiful" is because they don't teach Bible. I teach My children the Bible. I take my children to Sunday School , and to church and pray with them and go to prayer at church. I read everything ahead of time and then teach it. If your buying curriculum to teach your kids the Bible, then you are not doing what the bible says. Proverbs: 22:6. Add bible study to your studies.
We also add bible study to our Christian Curriculum. Honestly it's a conviction. If your not convicted, that's okay :)

It is absolutely the parents job to teach their children the Bible. Not a curriculum's, or even a church's job. But part of a parents decisions include finding a good church and curriculum for their child. Assuming that someone is being lazy in teaching their children Scripture because they are convicted that solid doctrine in their curriculum, that their child uses for several hours every day, is important, is just as silly as assuming that someone who uses a program like TGATB, or a secular program, or even sending them to regular school is neglecting their child's spiritual development. I teach my children the Bible, and I choose to use a curriculum that reinforces that teaching.
As a Christian - a strict reformed leaning Christian. Who loves Jesus Christ more than life itself… the GATB works for us. I do wish there was as good of curriculums that were truly Christian but there aren’t.. I’ve not been able to to find anything that is open and go and teaches a rigorous yet easy to understand curriculum .. that doesn’t take HOURS a day.. for one subject… GATB fills the need … however it’s not a Bible curriculum- we just read our bibles, teach our kids to read their bibles and teach good sound theology

We are reformed christians as well. We've used many curricula over the years. My younger son only used Horizon and Abeka. Even with Abeka I don't agree with everything they teach about the bible. I am considering GATB for Math.

I think it’s wholesome and keeps all the garbage out. I would have never felt it was trying to teach my child to be a Mormon or any other thing you just listed off. My jaw literally dropped and made me start laughing when I heard you say that. This just starts to get ridiculous. It’s not bashing anyone or anything at all or turning a child into anything bad. People need to quit being so hyper-sensitive to everything and be glad we don’t have to stick our kids into public schools where they will learn everything bad and come home (IF they continue to come home) and cuss out the parents and rob someone blind because they learn it there.

I appreciate TGTB curriculum. I can trust that it's going to be pure and no nonsense at an affordable price. We use our own Bible curriculum and WE make our homeschool Christ centered. I don't look for a curriculum to do that for me. ☺️

You wouldn’t use the curriculum but you said in another video that it’s ok to allow our kids to spend time with other kids that don’t believe like us and then talk to our kids about the things they said and why we don’t say those things. What’s the difference here?! We even say sometimes it’s ok if you can’t homeschool to send them to public school where the curriculums aren’t Christian at all

You're always supposed to be by your children's side when they're with others. In the case I was talking about, I was able to give two bibles to the girls. They had a hot chocolate with me and did Bible study with us. It was delightful. Learning and socialization is on our ground and should be what we choose as parents. I hope that helps. I wouldn't just let my kids run off to another persons house and be influenced by them.

I'm also a Christian mom. For me, my child's heart comes before academics, and that's why we have devotion time before "school work."
The education of my child is a Christian education. However, it doesn't mean that every single page of the work my child does has to have the word "Jesus or God" on it. But, I am the one who can point my child to Jesus in everything we do.
Academics are not intrinsically attached to values and morals. We are the ones who can model values and morals as Christians, not a curriculum.
We should be praying to God for this company, which is an amazing company, for Him to point them to the truth.
I love TGTB. My child does, too. It's academically robust, and I also did a deep research about their philosophy, and mostly, where are they trying to introduce theirs ideas, they are very clear about it and where you can find these ideas, as you did too.
We can definitely have different opinions, and we have so many options for all tastes.

And by the way, most of the videos you showed, they stopped using TGBT because it was too difficult for their children, and now they are stopping because the new math and language arts are not as robust as before.

Taking GATB out of the equation specifically, if any curriculum wasn’t overtly or even subtly teaching false religion but was more generic, yet worked for a child, why not use it and supplement with Bible lessons that teach what you want your kids to know? What I mean is should we rely on the curriculum to teach our kids the gospel? A lot of the sources you promote are more generic like the GATB. I’m not trying to criticize. I’m just curious why you single out the GATB and not other generic Christian programs.
If you're getting curriculum, why not make it gospel-centred. If they do hours of it everyday, surely it's a great opportunity to teach them about Christ.

@@howtohomeschool I agree that it’s not “Christian” but more like leaning basic generic Christian principles in order to not run afoul of the wide swath of ideas in Christendom. My point was more that there are a lot of curriculum companies that do this, including some others you’ve promoted. Additionally, there are folks like me who have found problematic teachings in every single curriculum we’ve ever tried. I don’t agree doctrinally with all of the teachings and beliefs of any company. I want to be a Christian and only a Christian who believes in the full authority and infallibility of Scripture. For those reasons, I prefer curriculum with a more generic approach that doesn’t instill any particular doctrine. I vet it to make sure it doesn’t teach that, yet the generic Christian principle approach (which I still vet) at least allows us to avoid worldly and/or anti-Christian curriculum while being able to focus on doctrinal matters in a more specific, personal manner-not relying on curriculum to do it. I’m not trying to sound argumentative, and I fully support your decision for your family. I just wanted to point out that others may choose the GATB (and others like it) to accomplish the same broader goals that you want by avoiding it. And as an aside, I am not a GATB apologist, and I’m not advocating for them. I’m just advocating for the idea that there is a place in the toolbox for many families for generalized Christian principles and/or “good moral” style curriculum. ❤️
We use it and we are Catholic. Just because it may not work for you religious wise doesn’t mean it’s not enough for others. That is why I live the fact that we all have choices as to what works best for each family.

I’ve been a christian my whole life (32 years). Went to public school all the way to college. I NEVER had a christian class. My knowledge from the bible comes from me reading the bible, not even from going every sunday to church. Im using TGATB curriculum form my 3 year-old and I’m supplementing the bible class from Abeka because as a parent is my responsibility to teach my children young about God. If I see in the future something with a non-christian theology in any curriculum I will swap to another, meanwhile school is school and I will teach my kid about God, just the way I learned.

So it is actually something to think about that secular is actually better than decieved "Christian" . With secular you know they aren't teaching about God. With the good and the beautiful you are by using it telling your child you agree that other religions are the same faith. This can cause very dangerous confusion and is one of day and biggest tricks.
This is exactly why we are switching away from TGTB after using it for three years.

We’re three weeks in and everyone is enjoying it. We went with Gods Big Story from Generations for our reading curriculum.
This is your brand of Christianity. Many of us worship differently. I'm not Mormon but there are no quotes which go against the gospel of Jesus, even the few by Mormons. What this curriculum does is concentrate on raising kind and loving children and building up the importance of families and being grateful for God's gifts of nature.

Jesus tells us to have nothing to do with false teaching. Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses and Seventh day Adventist add to God's word. It is following Christ to separate ourselves from those who pervert His word.

I read a comment above that said they love TGATB homeschooling program and it’s your job to teach children about Jesus, very very true. However, how is this different from using secular content to teach our children about the SAVIOR of the world? This world is so interesting that when you actually point out an important point people get defensive… The power is always in the details… Teaching children “general concepts of GOD” teaches them to be lukewarm. The Bible did warn us that satan comes as an angel of Light. That is, he presents himself like that of JESUS but on closer inspection you realize 😮. Is there one aspect of it specifically being “Mormon” that you found doing it? One example of something you don’t agree with as a Christian? Or does it just make you not want to use it since a Mormon wrote it?

I also felt a conviction to use a more Gospel-centered curriculum, one that aligns with my beliefs and includes more bible reading and memorization, specifically in the subjects of science and history. I feel with these subjects it is so important to be biblically grounded.
So this year, we continued using TGAB for language arts and math only, and switched to Masterbooks for Bible, science, and history. So far I am so pleased with the new curriculum and love the Bible stories and scripture incorporated in the lessons.
Using a mixture of curriculum provides a nice balance for us 🤍

I don't rely on my homeschool curriculum to teach my son about the Word of God. I incorporate that into our program, but find it unrealistic to expect a math or language arts curriculum to teach the fundamentals of salvation. Additionally, with so many views and doctrines within the Christian faith, which doctrine should be intertwined with such curricula? I'm thankful for TGATB weaving in godly principles throughout the basic curricula they offer. Frankly, I don't trust any curriculum to teach my child about the Bible. As a believer, that is my husband's and my responsibility. Ephesians 6:4; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 4:9-10; Isaiah 38:19.

Hi, do you know about ACE PACE ? I’m about to homeschool 3 kids ( 6th, 4th and pre-K) we have in mind using Abeka . A friend was recommending ACE but I haven’t done my research or know anything about ACE.
It's definitely on the easier side of homeschooling which is why I'm not a fan. But, some parents love it.
TGTB is Bible-based and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that the Bible is true and that they are saved ONlY through the grace of Jesus Christ, who atoned for our sins and died on the cross so that we can be resurrected and forgiven of our sins. I'm pretty sure all Christians believe that faith is necessary for salvation. Since faith is a "work", then yes, we are saved by our work. I feel bad for people who reject this curriculum only because the owner is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That's a very bigoted view of the world.

So back to Easy Peasy. Does it incorporate the Bible? I initially was doing that with my son his first year homeschooling. But I saw a video from you saying it isn’t really Christian or anything so I ended up doing another curriculum. Is Easy Peasy like just on track? Or is it ahead?
Many secular people do it. That tells me there isn't a lot of gospel-content. I've also had some people comment on my channel there isn't a lot of Christian content. Perhaps that's because she uses secular resources like Khan Academy. But she does promote Creationism in it and Christianity. I
You can use good and beautiful with scripture, plan and incorporate your own devotionals. That's what we do.

And I look for a truly Christian curriculum when I research programs as I feel I'm so stupid that I need to hear the gospel on every occasion I can ...and my kids are like me. I don’t need my curriculum to teach my kids about Jesus - I can literally do that way better with my own words along with whatever I’m saying.
I understand this specific curriculum doesn’t go into the gospel as it shouldn’t since it isn’t a religious curriculum. Which curriculum would you consider worth teaching in order to teach the gospel? I’d imagine that it wouldn’t have much academia since it’s main base is theological, but what about all the other subjects? I was hoping for some recommendations.

But to be Christian as I explained in the video would mean the gospel is referenced often in the curriculum materials.
I don't think this happens enough even in the most solid homeschool curriculum materials or there!
But you know, this is my preference.

Thank you for making this video! I was one of the people who asked about it. We are Muslim so this won't be an issue for us. When using a Christian curriculum I use any discrepancies in doctrine as a teachable moment to explain differences (and similarities, as there are more similarities than differences!) between our beliefs. I imagine she designed it this way so more people could use it and benefit from the free pdf version.

@katielarsen TGATB content is very denominationally neutral, I’m a Christian mother and I have found no conflicts in 3 years with them. I would say, if I’m thinking from the Muslim perspective, there has been a character in our math book that wears a hijab. It doesn’t mention anything that direction, but as a Christian I definitely noticed that little girl. Theologically, they point to God and Him creating all things, and also encourage good moral habits that align with my doctrine like love and grace, etc. But I thought from your perspective you might also enjoy the little girl in a hijab. I would say overall they have made a clear effort to make their content culturally well rounded, but doctrinally it will be Christian, but so light hearted in its delivery that’s really age appropriate for little ones. Doing things like compelling them towards honesty and grace in their own behavior.

@@anythingbutmyfullname I’m not really sure what you’re trying to ask me. Academically speaking all of their curriculums are significantly higher than anything else I have seen personally. I have found every subject to be years ahead of what I know the topic typically is doing. But related to that, I spend a lot of time slowing down a bit, and giving extra explanation in my sons learning style, and or also accepting that we may not finish a book that year because it’s just too advanced sometimes.
I don’t have a pro and con list for you. It’s a great Christian based curriculum. It’s colorful, engaging, has a lot of games and stories. My oldest son who is very high energy and masculine/rowdy generally enjoys them.
As a family of a different faith, I was very happy to be able to use the academics of this curriculum without having too much religious views discussions. I supplement religion studies outside of math and ELA and we dive deep enough, so it is personally ok for it not to be a part of every subject. Really enjoyed TGATB for its academics and my son learned to read well through the K and level 1 :)

Christianity is offensive (I mean Christianity says that unless we repent of our great debt of sin and trust in Jesus we will have to pay for them [in hell], but we can trust Jesus to do that for us and go to heaven with him forever...it's a free gift). Jesus also said Christianity was offensive...that's why the Bible records so many people walking away from him...it demands a response.
So if TGATB curriculum isn't offensive to you by making these demands on you and making you uncomfortable as someone who isn't a Christian and not saved, it's obviously not Christian.
Because Christianity (as many people completely re-define these days) isn't about being nice (although loving our enemies and doing good to those who hurt us is core doctrine). We want to be loving over being nice. We want to sometimes upset people to save them from further hurt in the afterlife... this is true love. Being okay with an uncomfortable conversation even if it won't make you friends but will love others.
This is what a lot of people who've used it have found (read the comments below if you're interested).

That's why we are the parents to teach them about Jesus and the Gospel. If she start teaching much about it in the curriculum not many will want to use the curriculum to teach their kids other things beside the gospel. And is that's why there's different denominations and religions using it. Looks like is pure and nice for the kids. LET'S DO TEACH OUR KIDS ABOUT JESUS AND THE GOSPEL MORE AT HOME AS you want a curriculum do it. That's why we have so many Christian books and videos and movies parents at home. And our leaders in our religion churches etc etc.
Though saying we want our curriculum to teach the gospel doesn't mean we stop teaching it to them outside the curriculum. RATHER, it gives us more opportunities to talk about the gospel, adn more opportunities for our children to think how the gospel relates to everyday life and academic work. Teaching the gospel in a 'Christian' curriculum isn't a big ask.
As a Christ centered Christian, who has used TGATB curriculum for almost a year now, I can assure anyone who is concerned that I have yet to find anything in our books that teaches anything misleading about God or Jesus ( I am also of the belief that though many other groups think they worship the same God as me, I must respectfully disagree with them) , because it is true that the makers of these books intentionally tried to focus more of the principles of kindness, peace, and generally anything that aligns with Philippians 4:8. Which gives us as Christian a clear instruction to focus on “whatsoever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy…” .
So while the makers actual intentions were to be as neutral as possible to not push any one doctrine, I think God had found a way to insert exactly what he wants in these books.
I think it’s important to remember that God’s wisdom shouldn’t just be in our minds but in our hearts. And that having a discerning heart focused on God also means learning and being able to also see God and his works in places that are not directly and obviously shouting his name. The birds, the rain, and the trees may not speak with words but God’s beauty, purity, and truth can be seen by anyone who knows how to see and listen with a God centered heart.
I think it’s important to teach children how to feel God in the world around them because there will be times in their lives where it may be hard to listen or hear with their minds. It may feel like God isn’t present because they aren’t getting the answers they were expecting, or because the pressures “of the world” are pressing down on them (as they once did on Job) and trying to overwhelm their senses to drown God out. But a discerning heart can find God even in the darkest of times. “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil for you are with me” Psalms 23:4.
So with all that in mind I find TGATB curriculum to be a highly useful tool for teaching children how to see God in places that one might not even think to look at first (like a quadratic equation).

I concur, and you’ve explained it very well. We’ve heard so much about today’s Christian curricula not having enough about the Gospel of Christ in it, or that its too weak, which is why we created Fetch The Goodness, which teaches 100% of the good news of the Gospel and we do this through animations, podcasts, curricula, live events and puppetry for children 12 and under. We’re working on a television series currently, inside our FTG Studio. Then we’ll launch everything at the same time.

We love the Good and the Beautiful. Math and LA is just that I mean Math and LA. we learn about Jesus and creation through Creation science and the bible and for this reason we go to a different curriculum for that. We like answer in Genesis Master Books. Did you know that their books writer come from other different religions background? All with the same Tho Christian faith base. So I dont fully agree with this video.

I am looking into TGATB Math. I am asking myself if using this curriculum as a Christian would be any different from using a secular Math curriculum like Saxon Math.
Saxon is a good program. But, yes, it's secular. I'm not sure about it's 'Christian twin' though. I like Generations, Masterbooks, BJU and Abeka for Math.
It's tough when there are some nice things about a curriculum, especially for ease of use, and beauty, but in the long run, I think it's best to use what is best for our children, that will reflect the truth from the Bible, no matter how easy or beautiful another choice is. I'd prefer to have plain black and white pages of schoolwork, that teach truth and help to lead my children in the right direction. I can also then personally tailor the adding of different books that surround them with a wealth of knowledge, that I could never find in any curriculum alone. I know we can never judge another person, because none of us, except the Father in Heaven, have the authority to do that. But sometimes we have to look beyond what appears easy and beautiful and choose wisely. Thank you so much for sharing. It's best to be aware so that we can all make informed decisions.

After reading into what the mormans believe exactly, I can see why people dont want to use the curriculum. We love the curriculum, and as long as they aren't pushing their beliefs in it (minus good morals because don't we want our kids to have high moral character?), I am ok with using it.

Yes, it's hard to say, but if it's not gospel-centred, I don't know how it's any more Christian than a secular humanist curriculum.
I was convicted at the end of last year to stop using it after 2-3 years and started easy peasy homeschool which lead me to find your channel whilst searching for info on it thankfully!

My boyfriend & I check a lot to see they changed nope they still teach the Bible they advise against the Good & the beautiful homeschooling curriculum HSLDA same way. My boyfriend & I ll stay clear of the good & the beautiful thanks for the warning ⚠️ this helps a lot cause I am planning on homeschooling once married & have kids.. I have autism I can be very very obvious not realize something is rather harmful & not Christian either...

Im struggling with this. We have been using Abeka Academy and we love how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in the fabric of every class. My daughter (5) has been sharing the gospel with complete strangers I credit Abeka with being able to break it down so great for her to understand. She loves Jesus! However, the price has went up and now I’m looking into other curriculums. I have a lot of friends who use the good and the beautiful, but for some reason I always felt off about it.

Just subscribed. The one thing I love about homeschooling, is that we get to give our children a variety of what we see as the best curriculum for them. For us that is Christ centered, and varies per subject. We definitely love the extra opportunity to teach about Jesus that is incorporated into the curriculum we have chosen. Jesus, character, serving, love and truth. A good curriculum is essential to the whole reason we are doing this in the first place.

People… if you are expecting a CURRICULUM to teach your kids about God then you are not better off than sending them to public school. What about you spend family time studying your bible? I have been using with my kids, and I haven’t seem any LDS teaching.
Thanks for commenting. I am hoping that my child, no matter what they're doing, are always having Christian input. I don't want them to learn about God and then stop for 3 hours while they learn curriculum. That wouldn't make sense to me. Isn't, at the core of it, education supposed to be about teaching our kids about God? Learning to read, write and do arithmetic are means to that end.
@@howtohomeschool exactly my point, a parent should be able to use things and bring God to the table. Just because something doesn’t use God in it doesn’t mean a parent is not able to bring it. Homeschool just like Christianity is a life long. We won’t always find God in everything but we can add it. So if the tgtb doesn’t have God then you have conversations with your kids about what you are learning. I don’t care if you use it or not. The point is, you make it look like if somebody else is using it then they are bad Christian’s. Not ok.
This is why I love homeschooling so much. We as parents get to choose what resources we use in our homeschool, and that is so amazing! For myself personally, I'd rather be the one teaching my kids when it comes to our faith, and I don't need it to be intertwined into every Math or LA lesson. Also, the fact that it's a free to print curriculum has blessed our family so much during this season when money is tight, and at this point it's either a free curriculum or we use public school online. Because of the indoctrination in our schools in America, in my opinion, the latter is more harmful. I personally felt curriculum such as Abeka and BJU go too far on the faith side of things, and that's a huge reason I didn't continue on with those programs. For some families, the lack of Christianity or Jesus in the curriculum isn't a huge deal breaker, and it allows families from many backgrounds to use it.
It's certainly a choice and Good gives us a responsibility to our kids. Thanks for commenting 🙂

I loved your insights and love your desire to have a gospel-centered curriculum but as I listened I realized you have a misconception of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a member of this church and Everything you said about Jesus is exactly what we believe! Jesus is the center of our church. We believe He leads it, just as He led His church while on the earth. We believe He lives, not just lived. We believe He guides us, not just guided us. We believe He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and thus still works through prophets as He always did throughout the history of the world. We believe salvation comes through Him, and Him alone (not through our works-although as the New Testament states “faith without works is dead” so true sincere faith will lead to good fruits and works). I invite you to study our gospel (read the Book of Mormon, listen to General Conference…) and then you will be more able to correctly inform others about us. Thank you!❤

Correction to your statement of its Mormon. It is the church of Jesus Christ of later day saints not the church of mormon. It’s his church not Mormon. Yes we have The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and goes hand in hand with the bible. The good and the beautiful is a simple way of home schooling without the propaganda or agendas from the evil of today. Gospel should already be lived and learnt in the home.
I think ppl outside the church often say Mormon but I've read they don't like being called this anymore.
And looking at the history this group has changed its rhetoric over the last 20 years. They never called themselves Christian, then they wanted to start doing this in the last few years/20 years.
I guess you'd say we do propaganda. We'd say you do it. It depends how we define this too.
It all comes down to definitions...what is the gospel...and what are the meanings within the meanings. That's why I linked so many resources in the comments. I've realized with some people you can say certain theological terms and mean completely different things.

As a Muslim, i love the TGTB, as it is a great curriculum education wise. We just cross out what we don't believe like "children of god", jesus etc.
We love that there is none of that they/them or weird sexual stuff like the teachers are exposing them to.
I think that's what I mean. If it doesn't offend anyone, is it really appropriate to call it a 'Christian curriculum'? Jesus said his words were offensive. So if this curriculum isn't offensive and even pleases Muslims (I mean that's great for you!), but it doesn't make it a very good 'Christian curriculum'. Really appreciate you commenting :)
I am a Muslim mama who also uses TGTB. I filter it through our Islamic lens. I understand that this curriculum just touches the surface of Christianity, which is why we Muslims have no issue using it.For our beliefs, we don’t supplement because we already have a separate core Islamic curriculum to discuss our faith alone. We have a course to teach our kids the five daily prayers, Quran recitation and memorization, and we also teach Arabic.I suggest you supplement your beliefs. TGTB has made my life easier; I just cross out what's unnecessary and add my own Islamic content.I supplement with Brave Writer, handwriting, and some phonics programs. You could say TGTB serves as our core language arts curriculum for now.
As a homeschooling mom who simply adores Generations curriculum bc of it's strong Christian, Jesus focused curriculum...we will still use TGTB LA bc it holds its own beauty as a language arts program. The pictures are lovely, the morals are there and the lessons are nicely structured 🤷.
You're the mom and God put you in your position to weigh up things. You've done so and had a think about it and that's a good thing :)

The truth is none of those “ religions” she mentioned endorse it . Just a few of its members- a few homeschool moms use it, or have had a part in writing some of it, or reviewing it so that it does not favor one or the other. So, I feel your info is wrong and so is the website for making that blanket statement. & stating these “ religions” as if the pope himself has given it his mark approval. That said. This video like many other like these are so divisive. I’ve used it. Did not work for my family at all. But I would never do this type of video.

To be honest with you we don't use a curriculum.
I create a plan each day and teach lessons based on my child's needs and pace, and I choose books depends on my child's strengths.
We start with a prayer, Theology first, Language Arts, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Science, Geography, History, Philosopy, and Art. +other activities.
So I taylor everything to suit my child's way of learning and thinking and most importantly our religion and philosophy.
It sounds like you have a lot of wisdom! Have you heard of the Real Cool History for Kids podcast? It's free but by Angela O Dell from masterbooks. We love it and Luke gets so much gospel-centered content there.
I’ve used this for my kindergartner, my first year homeschooling. It’s been great, my issue is that I don’t necessarily want to support the LDS church in any way. We do a separate Bible curriculum. I’m going to start with my asd son next year and I’m looking into master books.
TGTB so far has not had anything about God other than that He is the creator of all things.
What are your thoughts on ACEs ? Do you have a video ?

@@howtohomeschool ACE is mastery learning so starts off easier and then gets more challenging, you can also add to it. I recommend ACE, CLE and others instead of TGATB. Profits from the curriculum fund Mormon missions- spreading a false gospel.
As a member of Lds church we worship our almighty savior Jesus. We do not worship Joseph Smith. He is a prophet just like many in the Bible. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It’s not a bible and we do not worship prophets. In the Bible we have many prophets why would one think that we don’t have them still to this day

I totally understand what you are saying. I’m not sure how it is for everyone else’s homeschooling and how it’s set up but I will be honest and say that the school does not allow anything about God or anything involving the church allowed into how the advisors write it down. One day I put down that my daughter attended group night at the church and had to change it to literary studies because of the school. I’ve been finding it difficult to find the curriculum that is just right. Too much screen time doesn’t help either. I just started TGTB and so far it seems ok. I was prayed for because my mom couldn’t have anymore kids and been in the non-denomination my whole life. I’ve been to the Catholic Church because I’m also Latina. I grew up in the Lutheran church because that’s what my parents thought was best for school. I’ve been to the healing churches and seen people get healed. I’m married to a Mormon and now attend Nazarene. If I could give anyone any advice it’s to love others the way Jesus loves you. Character matters. Actions matter. Continue to spread love, light, and truth. Don’t forget to put your Armor of God on and also don’t forget to teach your little ones how to do that. Remember that the most effective teaching is prayer and speaking to God on a daily basis. Learning about the Bible is great but we also do that in church. One of the most powerful things you can teach your littles is to pray every night. Tell them that God is listening and he is always there for you. ❤️

I know this was made a long time ago, but one of my concerns with TGATB is that the founder said "god" told her to make this curriculum. I have seen about a thousand TGATB ads and that idea that "god" told her to do this vexes my Spirit. As a Christian, when a person who believes in a false god (Galatians 1:8 - Joseph Smith and LDS) says this god told her to do something it is a huge red flag. Can the true God use generic resources to bless His people, sure. Does the true God give unbelievers gifts and talents, yes. Yet, since I began my homeschool journey, I feel that I have seen a more robust apolegetic for TGATB than I have, at times, heard for Christ. It gives a "She doth protest too much" feel. My prayer is that whatever curriculum we use our zeal for the gospel, our boldness to proclaim truth, our compassion for the lost, and our discernment remains.

I suppose you have to cut out just about every other learning source from your curriculum because I guarantee that most sources are going to come from authors that are of a variety of beliefs that are different from your own. Library trip? Nope-- not unless you are going to vet every author's religious beliefs first. Trip to the science center? Nope-- too many beliefs from non believers. Movies? This is a definite nope-- the writers probably don't share your beliefs at all. See where this is going?
I'm honestly curious, are you this rigorous with everything you bring into your home or just this non-denominational curriculum that was started by a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?
And you haven't ever even looked through TGATB's curriculum personally!! How can you give an honest review of something you haven't even used?!
My family tried multiple curriculum's for math and LA and nothing even compared to TGATB. It has been such a blessing to our family, as have several other sources authored by people of various beliefs that are different from our own.
An analogy that I REALLY hope won't offend you, but illustrates the point: I've never looked at smoking dope, but I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea from the comments I hear others making about it. You don't have to test everything to know it won't be a good fit.
With this one, I object to them saying they're Christian when they're secular. I know I'm on point, too, because the comment has a lot of women who have used it and feel the same way as Christians about it.
Regarding a library trip...yes, I made a video about exactly that issue recently. And yes, most movies aren't a great influence...some are...so we watch Christian videos.
To say this is non-denomination is misleading.
In this day and age, there are many fun resources you can use that encourage your faith and teach you well.

I have personally used the curriculum and it is really well done. You make it sound as if the curriculum is some work of the devil and that offends me greatly.
I do not show my kids smutty material either, but not everything they read or watch is written by someone who shares our beliefs. An atheist could write an excellent Math curriculum and I would use it if it was good.

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and frankly, I don't think you understood anything about what those missionaries said because everyday and every Sabbath we talk extensively about how we can only be saved through Jesus Christ. It is at the very core of our faith. I also don't like the good and the beautiful, but more because it's full of busy work that my son hated and at least in qt grade it underestimates kids. My son got much further in other curriculum. He's even a year ahead in math now. I'm not as concerned with finding a Christ centered curriculum because we already talk so much about Christ at home and have more specific curriculum to speak daily about Christ and the scriptures. Last year we delved into the New Testament, the year before that we studied the Old Testament. I want a homeschool curriculum that helps my kids to be well rounded, be able to see multiple perspectives, have a good balance of skills and background. I want them to easily be able to transition into college if they so choose like my siblings and I did after my mom quit teaching to homeschool us.

I think i realized we can both say, 'We're saved by grace alone.' but mean very different things by it! It comes down to definitions. Yes, I have heard there is busy work. But unfortunately, that comes with many curricula. Fortunately, as a homeschool parent, you can skip that if you want. That's what I do with my son. We skip whole lessons in a row when he knows it.

As someone who lived with a Mormon family and was surrounded by that “faith”, I am ADAMANTLY against anything that advocates the LDS religion. I am very particular about the sources of gospel centered education my children hear and have done my research extensively about this curriculum, especially because I have lived amongst this group of people and have an understanding of their agenda. This promotes NOTHING relating to LDS.
The gospel itself says WE are to teach our children. So using a curriculum that is lovely with no bias whatsoever ever is amazing. It’s my job to teach the gospel. No one else’s.
