@@noahgroenewoud4754 The changes in career mode are minor though. The entire F2 part barely lasts for more than a few short races and driver transfers aren't changing gameplay much either. AI does seem to be more enjoyable to race against though from what I've seen. Still...F1 2018 was like 13 euros in a recent sale, compared to a full 60 euro for F1 2019, the choice is easy to make for me.

They are toggleable on PC for a reason. 2080ti shouldnt need to sacrifice anything to gain somewhere else, thats why its called ultra settings. What do you mean ultra looks like 2018 on medium? If you're talking about the models it's just optimization issues for the game. If you have a beefy card but the game is poorly optimized it doesn't matter. That's why there are certain games like the Watch Dogs franchise that run ok with beefy PCs but if you have anything below the extreme best you can't play at a decent frame rate, whereas games like GTA V when they were released they could be played on pentium 4s with GT 210s (awfully obviously but it could be done). Games can and should be taxing for high graphics, but should be optimized well enough for you to be able to play with a normal PC with medium range card and CPU

Well you have F2 in there and drivers changing teams... so... It cant really be that similar and there is not that much more they can do in a year with such a small team..

I've just accepted that Codemasters can't make a great engine in terms of visuals compared to other studios nowadays, but they mastered physics. If only they had something like Frostbite engine graphics and Codemasters physics, that would be amazing.

This game is nowhere near to any of the bigger racing games in terms of handling and physics, even Project Cars 2, which is not so good compared to iRacing / rFactor 1&2 / Assetto Corsa (Competizione) / Automobilista / RaceRoom etc., has better performance in this regard by a billion times. "Codemasters", more like Conmasters...
The lighting is such an improvement that it hides lower Res textures or more distracts from them that you don't notice as much. It is a shame the textures were lowered mainly the tarmac/asphalt as they looked really good in 2018
Cmon, are you really looking at the tarmac and trees and the people when you're playing and racing? Hell, if they added a lower option for graphics (for them integrated graphic users out there) that could take sky, buildings, people etc out of the game to make it look smoother, people would have the same experience

In the every evolving world of pc's there's absolutely no reason they couldn't have had both other than milking the cow in the future or pure lazyness.

Does the game uses the RTX technology? It might also explain the reduction of the resolution of some textures as it can counterbalance a bit the performance hit.

2:50 what do you mean 2019 has reduced asphalt quality? That's like the only thing I immediately noticed is much better. Looks *much* more realistic now without extreme contrast that makes 2018 look bad and "gamey". Just look at any real actual photo and see what's more lifelike. As for the tree you mentioned, textures are done better in 2019 again. They have been smoothed out slightly and have contrast reduced for more realism, on purpose! Not everyone likes high contrasted overly sharp unrealistic textures.
In 18 the sound seems more flat and compact, while in 19 it fills the atmosphere of the game and enriches the environment more than before so to say. Engine is better too.
For i prefer environmental appeal of 18 which is what i love the most in any game, lighting alone is fine but not enough, itd like fifa 18 and 19 same game different colour lighting

I did not even look at the graphics when buying 2019. The fact that the sound has massively improved and they added f2 and improved career mode was enough for me!

They didn't reduce the amount of details in textures but rather the intensity of the bump maps. Now the crevices seem to be "less deep", but to be honest, they look more realistic this way, at least when it comes to the asphalt.
The Red Bull livery doesn't have a sheen in real life, so the reflection will be muted. Overall, both look good but for the night and rain effects 2019 is superior. Plus, as a game it includes the f2 championship, so it is worth an upgrade; bearing in mind this is once a year, so hardly bank breaking levels of expenditure.

2019 is my first F1 game and I was pretty blown away with all the realism. 2018 looks like it has some advantages in detail and texture though.

I did not even look at the graphics when buying 2019. The fact that the sound has massively improved and they added f2 and improved career mode was enough for me!

It’s 2019, why is there still cornered curves on the cars, I’ve noticed this a lot in different video games, the corners or curves aren’t smooth, they’re choppy and cornered
The sound is different because of the engines have been upgraded and better. U should have tried doing the sound design test with the Classic Cars that are in both games!

Nathan Buisson I disagree. The new engine sounds for Mercedes sounds terrible. The Mercedes should have a high pitch scream. All the engine pitches are too low

I noticed that when u drive the lotus and lock up the front tires the smoke is coming from the size of a f1 car from nowadays

Yes, optimizations
They didn't reduce the amount of details in textures but rather the intensity of the bump maps. Now the crevices seem to be "less deep", but to be honest, they look more realistic this way, at least when it comes to the asphalt.
F1 2019 when u play it on wheel u feel like a god.
The Red Bull livery doesn't have a sheen in real life, so the reflection will be muted.
Overall, both look good but for the night and rain effects 2019 is superior.
Plus, as a game it includes the f2 championship, so it is worth an upgrade; bearing in mind this is once a year, so hardly bank breaking levels of expenditure.
Finally a game made for a 2 monitor setup..
the night in f1 2019 looks amazing, other than that f1 2018 looks a bit better for me (I really like contrast and colors xD even when it's not realistic)

It's absurd that we have accepted the fact that we buy unfinished games for 60€ to even 70€ and we are just fine with it. We are all just paid beta testers.

Love the changes in 2019. Don’t know for sure but it’s gotta be somewhere in the top 3 or 5 for best night lighting right? In a racing game that is. Anyways I love it.

Look at the actual Red Bull F1 cars. They have a matted look and don't have a gloss finish. This is very accurate
Looks like 2019 overall visuals are better, with the performance hit of lighting enhancements being offset by reducing some less important texture details.
