    Ah I forgot to put a note in during the sound section about how the engines are different in the cars so they should sound different regardless. Oh well 🤷‍♂
    Anyway - content is slow these few weeks because I'm hard at work on the next big documentary. More info coming soon :)

      Where are the sparks?
      F1 2022, they practically completely remove that.
      In real f1 they still exist, much more present than in the game.

    If you're wondering why the 2022 game doesn't have the high-end whine of the 2021 game, it's due to a real-life regulation change which mandates the small wastegate exhaust to be connected to the main exhaust. Pre-2022, the wastegate exhaust could be separate from the main exhaust which led teams to exploit it for aerodynamic gains. The 2022 regulations have now outlawed this.

    I have last year's F1 2021 and if not for the fact F1 2022 will be crossplay ( In an upcoming update I understand) then I would pass. I am 67 and play games online with my son who lives 60 miles away. I have an xbox1, and he has a PS5. We play COD games together and wanted to race F1 together. So I guess I will be buying this. : )

    I know it's very similar to last year's game and I know it's owned by EA now, but the Codemaster games have never really been about visual improvements but more about the cars and the experience, and looking at the new features and physics updates I think it's worth a buy, at least from me who actually watches the real season. It is a little pricey for some physics and gameplay updates, so maybe for more casual players it would be better to stick with 2021 or 2020.

      As it’s an officially licensed product they had to wait until the teams built and then subsequently released their respective cars. Something which was postponed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. If the new cars are postponed and the old cars are tweaked aerodynamically to an intermediate regulation that is what the game developers have to work with.
      Is your disdain for the game’s developers such that you seriously thought they were withholding the new cars until this year?

      Honestly speaking. I wish they would stop putting classic cars in the mainline F1 titles. It is a neat novelty feature but it just ends up being a bit of a letdown because you really only get a few historic cars and can't really put them in the context that actually made them interesting/famous. If anything, I would rather EA have another team working on a separate historic F1 season series. For example. In 2024, you might have the normal F1 2024 release but you would also get something like F1 1988 where instead of having just a random smattering of historic cars, you would have an entire grid of season appropriate cars/teams.

    I only really decided to buy F1 22 because I didn't own an F1 game before. It's only this year when I decided to get into sim racing, and it's only this year that I started watching F1 from the very start. The game sure is a challenge, but when you manage to finish a race in a decent position when you have mostly realistic settings, it makes it very satisfying.
    I play with most assists off, except for traction control, which I have set to medium, so I could somewhat keep my car under control while the A.I. can actually make mistakes.
    One other thing I noticed is that some kerbs will make you absolutely lose the car. Take the outer kerbs at turn 10 on Bahrain for example. You go just a little bit over it, your car will bottom out and you cannot do anything. One must be really cautious with those kerbs.

But, since the camera is vertical it should be going in all directions, not just downwards, due to the air hitting it the vertical plane and flowing around it. A few tracks were changed to reflect the real world, some curbs were modified with the addition or removal of the sausage curbs.
    It's also worth noting that the game's wheel support is not functioning properly (so far).
    Moreover, the game has new features including time attack pit stop as well as a precise grid placement (u need to stop at the exact line before the start of the race).
    Finally, they also added F1 life which is EA main money grabbing feature; u can own a house, decorate it, and drive cars with implementation of the safety cars as well.

    The biggest deal for me is the forced TAA.
    TAA can be controversial in most games anyway, but when it's biggest downside is how it handles motion, its really not a good fit for a racing game.
    Some people might not mind, but there's no good reason to ever remove an option to disable ANY anti aliasing, if only to allow for supersampling on high end/future hardware.

    • @RecycleFinn
      @RecycleFinn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can disable the Antialiasing from config.

    • @pf100andahalf
      @pf100andahalf ปีที่แล้ว

      How to disable TAA:
      Go to the configuration file(s) location (%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\F1 22\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml)
      Open the hardware_settings_config.xml file in a notepad.
      Change antialiasing taa=true to antialiasing taa=false.
      Save the changes.

    Good video as allways but my problem is that if you say 'not much have changed' your sheep are there to say the exact same thing and call this DLC or an update which is not fair. I have every F1 game starting from 2002 abnd I can tell you, this is not just an update. They did good work on this game and a lot has been changed. VR is possible now (remember the no VR/no buy guys?) The new cars feel amazing and very 'realistic' or less arcade like, sounds changed a lot but you cant hear that in a review video and the addition apof many other stuff like the supercars is very welcome even it you seem to think its just there to get a bigger audience. Good video but an even better game.

    These aren’t just slight updates to the way the cars look because Codemasters or EA is lazy or not doing their job. Please go read the actual F1 rule changes for the 2022 season and you’ll see this seasons cars are fundamentally different aerodynamically and the car design reflects this - the game is just reproducing how the actual cars look. This video should only be comparing the graphics and audio quality of F12022 to F12021. The real question is do the ‘21 cars feel different to drive compared to the ‘22 cars

    • @jimmyhopkinsman

      I don’t have the game but from the gameplay videos I’ve watched it does seem like EA has done a commendable job at overhauling the handling model. It seems the new cars behave noticeably different.
