You match the lines together when you want it to spark so 1.8 mm before TDC, would be correct, Vape is probably the best kit out there great spark and good lighting voltage and you don't need the battery, just a timing issue, 1.8 mm before TDC
Yea that's going to be making a real mess! I wouldn't worry so much aout the exhaust heat as I would about all the oil thats going to slosh around and get out.
Hey Justin very nice project I had similiar experience. Bought1975 yamaha RD 350 bike was sitting ten years cleaned tank carbs new oil lines cleaned points. still could not get to run good people said battery had to have full charge to run good and mine was not charging right. Tested components think everything was bad so I bought Vape ignition and installed pretty easy except could not find correct wire for kill switch was different color than listed in manuals. drilled out old spark plug making adapter for dial indictor set timing at 1.8 mm btdc. was still missing on one cylinder twin cylinder on bike. so was it electric or carb issue? Cleaned carbs like 3 times after market jets back to mikuni jets still had issues. Came across threads saying soak carbs in cleaner 24 hrs and that did the trick! Also on mine It has raised notch on fly wheel to line up to elcetronic pick up to set timing and that 1.8 mm is so slight trying to line up fly wheel while magnets are pulling in. hope you got it figured out
Thanks for your video, I have been chasing no spark on a 77 DT100 for a year, replaced coils twice and neither used OEM coil worked. Considering the VAPE kit
Yeah man, there is a good chance you can pinpoint the problem and fix it for less than the cost of the vape kit. But there is value in peace of mind knowing that the Vape kit will fix the issue. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
Hey, where does the black wire out of the relay go? I think it goes on the brown wire to the turn key ignition but I’m not sure, also, the “engine run/ off” switch is new and wired how it says it’s supposed to be but it won’t stop the spark when I kick it. Any idea?
Did you have to advance timing 1.8mm then align flywheel marks? Or were flywheel marks etched with timing already advanced? I have this kit but haven't installed it yet.
I believe I accidentally advanced the timing when I ran the rotor nut down the first time. Once I got the rotor back off, I made sure I was at top dead center, aligned the etched marks on the base plate and rotor, and carefully tightened the rotor nut so it didnt spin before it got tight. Good luck!
Hey guys, I have a 1975 DT100 that isn’t getting spark. I ordered new points for it and they should arrive today. Hoping they work but If they don’t do you have any ideas about other potential fixes? Also the auto lube pump is all messed up. ( the cable comes off the pulley, and the pulley also takes a long time to return to the idle position.) would you guys have any ideas about possible fixes and solutions for these problems? Thanks.
His reaction to the guy running his engine wide open was priceless. Great vid though. I'd say I'm sorry for laughing at that but...I'm not. It was funny (cause it happens to me a lot).

Lack of concentration with the tool on the oil tank!

What is the front and rear wheel diameter
Got one just like it but a donor bike only, wish someone needed
I like your DT broo😃
Is this fittable to an electric start 74 125?
Hey man - I went going through EXACTLY what you are with my 74 DT100A - let me know if you have any questions with troubleshooting the old thing.
Thanks Jake! I appreciate it! She is running good at the moment. (:

Nice bike I have 1 of that
