Gold Sniping a huge pay streak in the UK

  • Today I came across a fantastic crevice with over 4 grams of Gold. Sniping for gold, or diving for gold is where you put your wet suit on and use a snorkel and mask to find the gold under the water where it rests with your own eyes. Having watched Gold Rush White Water on the TV I decided to have a go at making my own video of A Gold Rush UK White Water episode.

    OMG, that looks absolutely awesome. At this stage, I'm more interested in panning rather than sniping, as I've got a fairly strong aversion to immersion in cold Welsh rivers having spent some years as an outdoor activity instructor LOL. My equipment arrived today, so I just need to build my sluice and I'm ready to go once I've got some more holiday time from work to use. I can see this being a really mentally rewarding activity especially being a former addict, I can really see myself getting hooked in the hunt for gold! I KNOW that I'm never going to make money from it (Expecting to lose quite a lot taking travel costs into account), but money just isn't the point of it anyway! Roll on the warmer weather :D

      On this day I was getting the point where I was knackered, cold and about to call it day, and then the crevice started to give a little. The water changed colour to an inky black as I scrapped away an then, Boom. The specs appeared and then the pickers appeared.

      Hello Trish and thanks for watching my videos . Check out the British Gold panning association for the most up to date information. I would look at www.goldpanningsupplies.co.uk/ for equipment. They also do courses up in Leadhills . You are not too far from Wales either which has some good gold too. It's a great hobby and I still class myself as a learner also. If you get a pan, practice panning with sand and small fishing weights. That way you will know how to find the heavies. Gold is heavier than a lot of other metals so always stays at the bottom of the pan. Well that's the idea lol. Thanks for asking about the hobby.

      It's down to personal choice on the snuffer bottle, whether you want it to float and be tied to your belt or to sink to the bedrock with some weight in it. They also reckon that Johnson's baby shampoo can make a good mask cleaner and prevent it from fogging. I'd also wear gloves and a neoprene hood. That's all down to personal choice, some people just like to collect it and then have specimen displays in wooden boxes. Some people sell it to jewlers and some have found enough to make wedding bands for them and their partner. Others have been known to put a guaranteed amount say 1gram in a bag of dirt and sell it for £50 to £70 as pay dirt.

      Hi Gary thanks for watching. This location has some reefs near by and it seems to replenish on a yearly basis. @@ScottishGoldHunter I have heard a few stories about the locals complaining of over night camping, littering etc and about other practices going on that are on a bigger scale than anything else. My view is that the gold mining company are in the process of sampling and trenching across lots of areas and they are on to a potential jackpot ( a bit like Cononish) and they are paying the royalties and what have you to be there, so I guess it counts us panners out as there is no system in place for us to go there with a permit - like Leadhills for example.
      It's a proper shame to say the least !
      But if you get to Tyndrum I'm sure you will have a fantastic time. I fell in love with place. The great thing there is that you could camp at the site in town and pan next to your tent or camper.

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question Rusty and a difficult one to answer. On this trip I found the gold from about 7 hours of sniping over 2 days. I don't start early in the morning, it's usually between 1pm and 7pm not forgetting an hour for lunch.
      I also have to spend time filming and flying the drone in this time too.
      Some people may average 1g/day from prospecting or move a lot of overburden and find the same but over a week. It all gets interesting when you get to the bedrock and reap the fruits of your labour.

    I can send you some gold still in the rock in the post, message me an address and I will put a map print out in there too for where you can visit to find it and a few photographs of the absolutely crazy rainbow coloured mineralisation outcrop, one of the sites is being destroyed by construction so you'd need to visit it fairly soon if you wanted to see it, the other one is 70 miles away, two sites..
    Forgot to add that on the first site it is a find every 3 minutes

      Good point Stuart. Sometimes you are that close to the bedrock you can't focus on things. Ideally you want nice warm and bright sunlight over head and on your back.

      Hello DEmma, the answer is a simple nope. I can only presume it was a common word I have adopted that may be associated with a major TV show with a similar theme. But every location where the gold is in the UK has had a mini G..d R..h . I initially started off with several videos where I couldn't even find a rusty nail but called it GR.....as Mickey take on my self.

    • @DEmma1972
      @DEmma1972 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Discovery does NOT have the rights to GR. GR is a common phrase which has been used for 200 years.
      That would be like discovery claiming it had rights to remove every episode of only fools because they say the are wheeler dealers (not to be confused with 'wheeler dealers' on discovery).
      The term gold rush is actually an event when a new area is found to contain gold. GR the program is same ol same ol as they all know where the gold is and can say how much gold is in each acre. The TV program is badly named IMO.
      Maybe discovery channel is bitter because NASA wouldnt rename the discovery missions

      I'm with you all the way there. I watched a clip on TH-cam where a Creator was flagged with Copyright claims on a video he made based on the sound of a paper towel dispenser he used sounding like the intro to a song.... wtf ! and they were his words.

    • @DEmma1972
      @DEmma1972 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People who watch GR are more than likely going to watch your channel also and all the gold extraction type vids that are on YT. The more the merrier and DC should be happy as it encourages a community to get behind the idea of going out and doing it.
      DC will now be watching all your vids so at least you will make some money off them lol.
      If DC is watching your vids then they are probably also reading the comments. DC I will say this, Grow a pair FFS. Most of your shows are faker than ghost hunters and Dazp just kicked your butt for content and information for educational purposes.

      Yes you are spot on there, the gold is very very heavy and becomes literally planted on the bedrock by it's own mass, it's very lazy and doesn't like to travel other than to the lowest point it can possibly get to.
      It could have been there for thousands of years and today was my lucky day.
      I do know that some people have found big nuggets here too, I've seen em with my own eyes and they are something special I can tell you that.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and share a comment.

    I find it hard to believe that in the U.K. you can just rock up to a river you like the look of and start scratching about looking for gold!
    Or, is that not the case, and you have to be a bit covert about it? Is that why you spend half your time in a wetsuit doing Newt impressions🤣
    A video about what you can and cannot do would be good.
    Obviously you return the rocks to where they came from so it doesn’t look like how that insignificant American telly programme leaves the landscaping, but seriously, do you have to ask permission for some places and not others, etc etc

      th-cam.com/video/UqUBRY-LTAg/w-d-xo.html check this link out Roger. He doesn't cover the legalities of dressing up as newt though. My aim is create a channel that is just as good as the American telly show but as an enthusiast from the UK. It all started out as a bit of a joke though in the early days where I could not find gold for love nor money. Things have progressed slowly since then.
