@@aqalkalayuda Well, I wouldn't quite agree. They released "Whoosp!" only last year. Who records a new album every year? It was done in 60s! And it's not that easy to make covers without adding your own touch to it, so that ,in the end, your version sounds like yours own song. And I appreciate when established bands, or musicians in general, want to record a good song by their colleagues. Even if they do it so well, beauty for the ears !! And remember what Deep Purple recorded in their beginnings? Processing classics !! So I fell in love with them right away.
Doing a live cover is fair enough, but I am really not sure what the point is of covering this in the studio. It is not as though they could improve on Peter Green's (Fleetwood Mac) original. It is very much his song.
Imagine dropping another album of originals three years later, with a band that has 2 members pushing 79 (Gillan, Glover), 2 others aged 76 (Paice, Airey) and new kid Simon McBride and STILL rocking so hard, and touring the world. Music is life, apparently.
As a lifelong Purplehead, I was one of the few old diehards who didn't immediately start groaning when they announced that they were going to do an entire album of covers. I stuck up for the lads, saying, "Come on, given all that talent and all that history, virtually anything they do is going to be amazing! Shit, I bet the lads could do an entire album of friggin' nursery rhymes, and STILL pull it off with grace and style." I'm overjoyed to have been proved abso-freakin'-lutely right on this one, lads. A brilliant cover, very faithful to the original, while still featuring that inimitable Purple twist! You guys totally rock, and if this first cut is anything to go by, I'm sure the rest of the album will be absolutely stellar! Keep up the great work, lads... you're still beautiful, and we old diehard fans still love ya!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I was very impressed with this tune; they kept it very faithful to the original at first, before adding their unique Purple twist. Worth taking into account that most covers are homages to great artists that may have influenced or inspired the artist doing the cover, or an artist putting their own style on a "classic". But here, these guys are covering a song by one of their contemporaries, their friends from their early years. To me this makes it an even bigger compliment to the original in some ways. And they did it well.
Of course they were respected. Many metal bands cite DP as an influence on their music. It's only Led Zep fans that don't give DP credit, because they know DP have always been the better band since 1970.
Been a DP fan since the first time I heard “Hush”, I was about 8 or 9. It’s been pretty damn awesome to have their music on this entire run since that first song I heard from them. I’ve never cared about what was ever written about them at any time or fallen into the “Blackmore” issues. For me it’s always been about their music. I’ve never been disappointed, this tribute to Peter Green was proof they’re all about the music as well.
Yes, Ian Gillan sounds pretty good here. Not necessarily younger, but much clearer. I think there are 2 reasons in particular: 1. Rested voice, no tour shortly before 2. In the newer / current songs of the last 10-12 years or so he no longer tries to sing as he did when he was 25. His voice has become deeper, and given his age, that's normal and okay. And in this lower register he still sounds great and shows that he is an excellent singer - even if he can't get "Child In Time" and other high voices from the seventies and eighties.
I looked it once, I looked it twice, .... I looked it over 50 times and I can't wait to see the next episode of the trailer of the best movie in this galaxy. These guys rocked me when I was twelve, and they still got the key after 43 years .... thanx a lot deep purple
Being a (late) baby boomer myself and a failed musician-turned-radio-producer with solely covers content in some obscure Greek radio, I can only say I am thrilled I'm still alive to listen to this abridging of a band I consider among the topmost in rock with the vast realm of covering such musical milestones - and, boy, I still hope to listen to Deep Purple performing Pink Floyd's "Young Lust". Hats off to you, gentlemen.
It's nice to see these great musicians still doing music just for the fun of it, covering songs that possibly they fondly remember from their youth and introducing them to younger generations.
This album just keeps getting better the band are having fun and it shows in there music and the videos the new lp is beginning to look to be another belter

My first record was Shades of Deep Purple. My first Concert was Deep Purple in the Gruga-Halle, Essen. This was in the beginning of the 70s. Since then i've seen them x-times till today! The older they get the better they get! This Band and their musicians were unbeatable! Rock on!!!
This is some really talented old men just having fun with amazing music. You can hear the passion and happiness they feel for playing these old classics during the whole album!
And quite some other cross references; Bob Dylan Blueprint "Mission #3 Lyrics", chasing to get his (Robert Allen Zimmerman) notebook and of course Ray Charles Blueprint: "Mission #2 Music", meeting with Ray Charles (always hilarious when a blind man gets out of a car) for the sheet music "Let The Good Times Roll“, another song on the album

That was great!!!...I love the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green ..Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer. Deep Purple did their own spin on this song and it is awesome!!! Great artists and musicians can do that. This goes back to the original beginnings of Deep Purple when they did their version of the Beatles song Help. Bravo boys and the video was funny and entertaining!!!!
These guys continue to put out great records and it's our fortune that they still love to play together and have some fun. By rights, Gillan's voice should not be as rich and accurate as it still is and this is most definitely a testament to his skills and gift. This is my absolute favorite band and I'm a 58 year old woman. ☺
Deep Purple seem to still be traveling deeply in purple rock even nowadays! Their musical story began in the 20th century and many different members joined the band thru out the years but they were always focused to their original standards! All of them & I think they were/are fourteen !!!

These guys continue to put out great records and it's our fortune that they still love to play together and have some fun. By rights, Gillan's voice should not be as rich and accurate as it still is and this is most definitely a testament to his skills and gift. This is my absolute favorite band and I'm a 58 year old woman. ☺

Deep Purple seem to still be traveling deeply in purple rock even nowadays! Their musical story began in the 20th century and many different members joined the band thru out the years but they were always focused to their original standards! All of them & I think they were/are fourteen !!!
