I thought this was hilarious and the dog trainer was on point. I know my dog tries to manipulate me but she also doesn’t really care when I come home. Winning! This piece is a reminder that our animals aren’t our servants. We serve them and are better for it (and yes, I also own a cat).
How about we compare a child to an adult, then say a child doesnt love their parents because its not an equal relationship you have with a spouse. Sure dogs dont put feet on eachother, but dogs also dont teach other dogs to jump into their arms. You cant say a dog doesnt love you or respect you for doing something hes been encouraged/rewarded/trained/to do. Maybe step one of being a dog expert should be realizing they arent humans. Or perhaps stop expecting the same things from your wife and your dog. Would you lock your spouse in your home when you go to work, making sure they couldnt get out? Guess you dont love your dog then. Would you put your spouse on a literal leash so they dont run away? Guess you dont love your dog then. Would you expect your spouse to eat from a bowl on the ground and not at the table? Guess you dont love your dog then. Would you expect your spouse to obey all your orders while you dont let them tell you what to do? Guess you dont love your dog then. Would you put your spouse in a cage in your car when you go for a drive? Guess you dont love your dog then Would you mate your spouse with another man for money and sell her kids off to other people? Guess you dont love your dog then. Its almost like a healthy relationship with one would be an unealthy relationship with the other, because, i know this is shocking, your wife and your dog are not the same. Kids love their parents, siblings love their siblings, spouses love their spouses, friends love their friends, dogs love their owners, but its not all the exact same love that can be viewed with the same lense with one to one comparisons as to what constitutes a healthy relationship between them. Yes a spouse waiting at the door all day does sound unhealthy, just like thinking your wife and your dog are the same sounds pretty unhealthy. Maybe its time to go back to basics for this expert Your wife is not your dog and your dog is not your wife.
Has this guy ever seen 2 dogs playing?! Their paws are all over one another. To call it disrespect is hilarious. Don't worry guys, our pooches love us❤
Omg... I always thought my dog (border collie/german shepherd mix) doesn't love me that much, even if he obeys me and shows affection... and the reason I believed this is because every time I come home, he just stays in his spot akd slowly moving his tail, and when my friends or someone comes to tje door, he is jumping on them like crazy. And it kinda make sense... he respects me 😊 but i got him as a puppy (he is actually 12 years old today) and i didn't let him jump on me or lick mu face.
Dogs cannot experience complex human emptions like love. Dogs are pack animals and they simply bond to you because you provide for them. Dog owners, and especially those who call themselves "dog parents" don't want to know this.
Have to agree with this post. I've come to the opinion that dog behaviourists haven't got a clue about dog behaviour. We have a year old Kelpie cross who is a manic, prolific digger. Our back yard looks like a moonscape and nothing, NOTHING has stopped him. We have tried every so-called deterrent to stop him, from discipline to cayenne pepper, everything these so-called experts have recommended. Trawled through endless TH-cam videos and nothing has worked. We've even paid a behaviourist to come to our home and assess him. So I wouldn't give a hill of beans to what this "behaviourist" says about dogs and love. We know different.
I am not sure he is correct about dogs not loving their humans and the other stuff he said. Nathan Williams' website states That after Nathan lost his beloved dog, he launched "into intensive learning about dog psychology, dog behaviour and dog anatomy. Although he started formal training in the field, the basis of his expertise wasn’t gained through formal qualifications, but through learning from dogs themselves. A major turning point in his learning was when he visited and learned from a horse trainer who was known as a horse whisperer - only then did animal behaviour start to make more sense. With his new-found knowledge and skills, Nathan started helping friends with their dogs, achieving fast and remarkable results. Word spread and pretty soon he was the dog behavioural specialist that so many people wanted to work with." So while Nathan is very good at training dogs, I don't think he is fully trained in canine neuroscience as he didn't finish the qualifications. Still, he's passionate and good at what he does which is dog training.
Totally agree that pets never really 'love' in the same way we humans love each other, & even many people struggle to work out what love & affection truly mean, finding it difficult to know exactly how to appropriately, or sincerely show them to others! Now I have a 6mth old male Pomeranian puppy who is curious but quite timid and easily frightened by loud noises, especially sudden ones. Therefore my approach to training him is different to my last dog (also a male, but a Pomeranian-Maltese) who was cheeky, domineering, & rather strong-willed, which meant it took a long to go from diving at his food-bowl to sitting & staying till I said okay! Another example was that while I was able to teach him to stand up, walk, & twirl on his hind-legs, he would refuse to drop a ball after fetching it, instead just running around with it in his mouth, then challenging the thrower to try to take it from him, so I eventually gave up on 'fetch'! Coincidentally when I was younger I took in a stray Burmese-X kitten which loved rides in the car, plus I also successfully taught him to fetch toys!
My observation: I fed continuously 2 months to stray dog same place. When ever he see me, it wave tail. I stopped two days feeding it..Thats it..He stopped coming to me..I might be wrong, Dog LIKES who feed them.. Thats it. Today you ..tomorrow someone..Its we feels love with them, not they..
He has a Golden Retriever. Of course, the dog loves him! Every Golden Retriever loves... everyone. I own one =) We go out, a total stranger pets her, and immediately, he's her best friend.
Funny, tragic, hilarious, chilling…. The amount of stuff we read into our pets’ behaviour isn’t funny, I guess. What an eye opener. I love this ABC series 💛 (am I meant to?? 🤣)
Bruh what is this dude talking about.. a dog knows putting feet on someone is disrespect? I don't do anything with my family dog, I don't feed him, take him out, and when I come home he just lays there and wags his tail a bit. When my mother, who does everything for my dog comes home, he cries and runs towards her and jumps up like he wants to be picked up.
I agree with the "dog behaviour specialist" to some degree but all dogs are different. Golden retrievers are dopey and crave more human love and attention compared to other breeds, thats why theyre the most popular dog in the world.
This dude is full of crap, As a person that used to study a vet technician major, I can in fact tell you that dogs do love us, there’s even videos of dogs crying over the death of their owners, hell even some of them sleep on their deceased owner’s grave. If that doesn’t indicate real love, then I don’t know what does. If this dude says that dogs don’t truly love us, then I must be Kim Kardashian’s long lost twin sister 🙄
It is not that yout dog DOESN'T LOVE YOU, its just in a capacity that dogs are able to show and act out love is far different then love coming from a person. I would much rather be confident that my four legged friend loves me with tail wagging, wet kisses and showing intense anticipation for me when I'm working or out, then put up with the conscious deranged at times, twisted and dysfunctional love people can sometimes exhibit, any day of the week. I am sure there are dogs out there also incapable of showing the same type of love certain dogs show because like people there are all kinds of intelligent differences, as well as personality differences. You can't just say it as simple as dogs are incapable of loving people, i completely disagree with thay statement, and believe certain people and dogs have the inability to love but for various reasons and causes. Noone is going to tell me my last dog Angus who was way more loyal and loving then any one person ive known did not love me. I felt his love and knew it well. Ive had more people harm me in my life, and show NO LOVE, then the dogd ive had. I just hope that people don't believe the video because its simply not the reality and can make people's choices in their pets less fulfilling and may stop one from wanting a dog because of it. Your dogs most of them know how to love you and will unless there's something wrong in some way. Trust me
Body language is not universal or reliable for humans, so it sure cant be for dogs, who are a different species but are socialised more fhan in part by humans. Their behaviour is not disrespectful or respectful, it is what we teach and reinforce.
I wish this interview had a live audience and I was one of them so that I could be a heckler and throw eggs at this guy and storm out of there 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. Who hurt you man??? You seriously need some therapy!!!!!!
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. ABC really shouldn't be giving him airtime. There's some valid points in there, but some very invalid ones. He's claiming puppy dog eyes is manipulation, jumping on you is showing disrespect, dogs shouldn't do anything to get your affection and at the same time trying to get affection shows low levels of love. All of that is bullshit. Also comparing a dog waiting for it's owner to a partner that constantly wants to know everything you do, that's just a crazy comparison.
I can tell you what is irrefutable. My dog is happy to see me. My dog enjoys my company. Whether its conditional or not, its undeniable fact. However I do believe when dogs lick us its because of the taste rather than kissing us. There is also an appeasement behavior connected to that but that is not love the way we understand it. I also believe dogs waiting by the door for us is, while natural, not healthy. Because we are their main source of stimuli so they do not know what to do without us other than maybe playing on their own sometimes. If dogs know how to turn on netflix and actually enjoy the content, or play video games, I believe they would rather than wait by the door. I can tell you for sure what the guy is wrong for, that dogs putting their paws on us is disrespect. It is poor behavior yes, but there is no intent to disrespect when they act like that. They want to reach our faces when they are excited. All you have to do to prove this, is to lower yourself slowly when the dog jumps on you and you will see which part of your body they are trying to go for. Yea its the face.
Hi Liam. Can you please share any evidence you have to support the claims made in this video? I personally don’t believe the claims are right. When a dog is excited and it jumps on you, it disrespects you? Reallly!!!???
The definition of an “expert” is “X is the sign of nothing” and a “spert is just a drip out of control”.…therefore this “expert” dog behaviourist is that very definition…..and he needs to get a better job…one that actually requires a heart and teaches how to have a more positive attitude.
Does my cat love me? Please do this with a less super negative “expert”: th-cam.com/video/yEhIpQvJRdM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=em9TLbzaGfXCvhV1 Does she respect me? Obviously not - she’s a cat, Does she manipulate me? Absolutely. But she still loves me. Prove me wrong. (Well done Wtfaq bookers for finding someone with such a negative take! How many behaviorists did you go through before finding this guy!?!)
I thought this was hilarious and the dog trainer was on point. I know my dog tries to manipulate me but she also doesn’t really care when I come home. Winning! This piece is a reminder that our animals aren’t our servants. We serve them and are better for it (and yes, I also own a cat).
Is this really real?! I think the “Dog Specialist” is really a closet cat lover!🥴
Have no fear dog lovers. An MRI scan will show that your dog indeed loves you or at least REALLY likes you.
This is a weird enough blend of right and wrong to make me wonder if it's a joke. Healthy relationships, great and valuable. Paws = disrespect, what?
How about we compare a child to an adult, then say a child doesnt love their parents because its not an equal relationship you have with a spouse. It's already been proven that dogs are capable of love that is similar to humans.
Dogs can't comprehend LOVE don't project human quality to an animal, what you think is love is evolutionary tactic dog develop for millions of years.
That guy is a Debby Downer. I don't believe him. My dog loves me and your dog loves you too. ❤🐾
He’s a dog behavior specialist, I think we should take this with a grain of salt cause a study seems more accurate
He stopped studying and became a trainer

Idc i know my dog and we love each other❤😂
Your dog doesn’t love you. That’s an anthropomorphic quality you wish they had. They don’t. Humans are so needy omg 😂😂
A dog loves you more than you know - and loves you more than it loves itself. This "expert" is off his rocker!

Feeling real bad for Cam here
As long a u provide kisses pats & food....

Food makes dogs behave. That's no love. If you don’t agree give them love for somedays and vegetables as food.
The point they’re trying to make is in the comments.
Ok guys, this is a comedy skit, none of it should be taken seriously in any way. 😂
Is there a similar one about cats?
