I'm the opposite in style. A Maximalist! However, even with a super colorful home filled with art, I still declutter. I want to be minimalist in terms of human-y stuff which I think is just intentional living really.
Clothing is something I keep as minimal as I can - I can easily say the least minimal part of my life is my collection of coffee mugs.... I love coffee mugs. 😂
your channel and aesthetic and editing and thumbnails are top tier ! I just can't wrap my head around you not being famous already! like everything is so goood.
Similar path here!I started minimalism first in 2017 and this is the year when Im realised that Im absolutely not a minimalist😅I started a spring cleaning at march and in the last 4 months I got rid of around 4 full trunk of stuff…and I also spiraled into a no buy mindset😊lost a few weight and a lot of anxiety!keep up the videos, Im always around youtube to not to lost my minimalist mindset😂
I became more comfortable with my minimalist level once I stopped worrying about whether I was minimalist enough. Its easier since I dont use the label of minimalist. This lifestyle has its extremes but there is a lot of middle ground as other people has noted. Great video!
Whenever I feel like I need to start over with minimalism, I first start with a “buy nothing” instead of a declutter.. buy nothing weeks/months/years force you to use the things you already have, and then after the buy nothing I really can see the “stuff” I really never touched more clearly. Because if I didn’t use it when I was forcing myself to use what I had, I must either hate it, or it has no value to me. Then I declutter, often I declutter things only to rebuy something similar or the same, and that’s just a wasteful cycle. Also remember everyone’s minimalism is not the same… growing up with hoarders it was easy for me to say this is all junk or garbage because it brought no value to me, but to my sister it held a memory she wasn’t ready to let go of. So don’t judge your minimalism on someone else’s minimalism.
No-buys are such a great tool for a minimalist's journey! I personally think the decluttering journey is the easiest part of becoming a minimalist, it's what comes after, the new approach to consumption, that I have found to be the most challenging. I appreciate your insight! 🙂
Hey Drew! I always look forward to your videos. The editing on this one was amazing, especially the start where you "rewound" the last six years of your life. Very clever montage! :) I was saddened to hear that you left your Christian faith, but that's personal, so I shall not pry. :) I'll pray instead of pry. See what I did there? ;) At 57, I just recently got into minimalism and I'm very much enjoying it. Sure, I have a lot of clutter, but I'm happiest when I see I have empty shelves and empty drawers. LOL! Even my walls are partially bare. I just feel more comfortable when I go into a room with a lot of SPACE. I can't really explain it. I hope you'll share your minimalism journey along the way. Perhaps I'll pick up some tips. Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm also the same way when it comes to clean walls & drawers. It stresses me out whenever I open a drawer and there's a bunch of loose stuff rolling around, or when there's just a bunch of stuff sitting out on surfaces!
I think just trying to find a nice balance somewhere is good. You can live minimal, but still have a couple of things you might use once or twice a year on a special occasion. Nice video bro, good luck!
Maybe you didn't fail, maybe you just found aspects of minimalism that you like to bring into your life :) At least that's how I see it for me. I don't need to be an extreme minimalist, just a little bit more intentional. Have a great week Drew!
If you're a minimalist, do you continue to struggle with acquiring more stuff?

It's tough to keep up in our fast paced society. Stay vigilant! 🙂

There is definitely a tendency in minimalism to go the extreme - it’s definitely a fine balancing act for sure. Appreciate your insight :)
Check out the book Cozy Minimalist. She gives great steps to have a home look and function well with minimal things.

It really is a balancing act! No shame in having a few "just in case items".
Maybe you didn't fail, maybe you just found aspects of minimalism that you like to bring into your life :) At least that's how I see it for me. I don't need to be an extreme minimalist, just a little bit more intentional.
Have a great week Drew!
This is such a great perspective! Definitely need to take that approach going forward.
