Why You Should Buy Your Porsche Macan or any Porsche CPO and save thousands

  • Porsche vehicles take their biggest hit on depreciation in the first year and then the second biggest hit on depreciation in the second year of ownership - thereafter he depreciation curve flattens out. Buy buying a CPO Porsche that is 2 years or 3 years only you can get a slightly used car that has already taken most of its depreciation and still have the benefit of the CPO warranty which covers you for 100,000 miles and can be transferred to future owners adding value to your vehicle. This is why I highly recommend that you consider a CPO Porsche. By buying CPO you can enjoy a vehicle with more options and features and loose less money than by buying new. Of course if you are a multi millionaire and don't care about loosing $10,000 or $20,000 a year on vehicle depreciation go ahead and custom order your Porsche vehicle and take a bath - someone like me will be waiting to buy your garage queen when you trade it in in two years

This is a never-ending exercise, I have looked at depreciation and no matter which year you buy the car, whether 2 or 3 or 4 years old, you will on average lose 8 to 12 thousand dollars. There is no perfect entry point because at each point (year) your rationale would not be willing to pay that price for a car that is used x number of years and still costs that x amount of dollars. It's just the price one needs to be willing to pay for having the car and enjoy the experience.

Thanks for the video and explanations! I agree; I just bought a ‘16 Macan S 60K miles; I wanted a Porsche engine in my CUV… test drove 5 different offerings, before selecting a 1 owner, Los Angeles Porsche dealership maintained every 10K miles!

Good analysis. I just bought a CPO Macan Turbo (2021) with an in service date of the end of March in 2021. Getting more than four years of warranty coverage and it came in $26,000 under original MSRP with 13,640 miles. Felt like a decent buy.

@@planetfabulous5833, absolutely loving it so far. It replaced a BMW X3 M40i and other than the exhaust note, these vehicles shouldn't be in the same league.
One underrated difference is the brakes. The BMW had nice M sport brakes but the Macan has PSCB and my rims are essentially free from brake dust. It's unreal.

Funny you had an X3 M40i. I was as dead set on getting one until researching and seeing vids about the Macan. Apparently it’s got a much better suspension setup and they are built like tanks. Solid with no rattles. I’m searching for a CPO S or GTS now :)

@@planetfabulous5833, I absolutely loved the M40i until I took the wheel of the Macan. The M40i is a great vehicle. Bigger back seat as well

Great honest review, I won't be tracking my Macan when I buy, so is a GTS or Turbo that much better over the Macan S. Do I really need the suspension button or chrono? Do one macan trim hold its value better over trims? So many questions. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks

The leveling air bags are very expressive to repair; chrono pack is a gimmick in my opinion, that will not be worth the money … especially if your not planning to run it on a track!

I just bought the 2017 Macan S in April with 16,000 miles. I love this car fortunately I have another car because like you I do not want to rack up a bunch of miles on it. The Macan S looks better than a Cayenne . I agree gas is something I will not cry about as this is my first Porsche and I care about performance over fuel efficiency. I really want yo see what your thoughts are about tuning the Macan as I would like to at some point. I also want to know do you see them making an Electric Macan anytime soon I am tired of these Telsa owners showing off with their torque at the stop light lol

Excellent contents of your video I appreciated. Sir, I am one of the person that loves everything brand new but you are probably right about used if they're good condition. So I am looking into 2019 Porsche Macan S but the thing is it was Service Loaner vehicle. But i'll tell you what the vehicle msrp was 80K and selling for 62k and has a mileage of 5,200. I really love this vehicle due to with the options that are installed. Cause if i would to get a new one it's gonna cost a lot. What do you think about this vehicle? The dealer did send me the video of it and it looks brand new. But i am just concerned that it was a service loaner vehicle.

I need help deciding on a purchase. I’m looking at a cpo 2019 Macan with 40k miles. The selling price is $48k. When new it was $65k. Warranty left plus the cpo is good for the next 3 years. Should I go for it, or buy a new $48k vehicle?

Unfortunately the Macan depreciation graph you show @4:00 seems to actually contradict your story. Aside from the small blip up at the very beginning, it shows a completely linear rate of decline (for all intents and purposes) from 2016 through 2019. In other words, the depreciation is by the exact same amount every year. If you lay a ruler on it, you can see that it’s completely linear. There is no slower rate of depreciation for the later years. Thanks for sharing the graph though, I wasn’t aware car gurus had that sort of data.

That’s why you should buy it CPO. That way you get 4 years of warranty and 100,000 miles of peace of mind. By that time the vehicle will have no value

Generally with Porsche I agree with you but with the Macan I am not so sure. The slope for 2015 has the same curve as from 2017 and so there is no rapid fall off. For most Macans you can get a 8% discount and so a 2020 Macan S going for 72K can be got for 64K. A 2018 Macan S is going for 56K at the lowest and so for and added 8K you are getting it new, two years younger and can choose what options you want. With a boxster or Cayman totally totally agree but not the Macan

I gave this vehicle to my teen aged daughter to use for the past few months and she put a quick and hard 6,000 miles on it. Thus far not one thing has gone wrong on this vehicle. I have found the Macans to be very reliable vehicles. My technician who works on my 997 who is a master Porsche Tech owns a Macan himself and he was the one who turned me into the Macan as a daily driver. I will be using this vehicle all winter
