Firstly: Children use a different part of their brain to learn a language than adults, so it's retarded to keep hearing people say ''when you see a baby, he never learns the language through a grammar book''. Language youtubers need to stop saying that.
This pod was interesting because my mind could wander a little while listening. While yes I 100% agree that books and interaction are irreplaceable in language learning I couldn't help but imagining the potential of an VR game where you pick a language to start the game and enter the game as a toddler in a home with parents and you hear a language you picked but don't really understand anything at first and the game encourages you to speak, repeat, follow requests, answer questions, preform manners like say please and thank you and so on to create a culture foundation in a sense. If the in game mom asks do you want milk or juice then you learn the "do you want" question together with the visual of milk or juice. Same with blue or green cup etc. It could also ask "could you tell dad that dinner is ready" or "could you go and put the X in the Y" etc. While it would be more on the fun scale over the efficiency scale it feels like a cool idea to practice if it is part of the game to answer out loud and not a click to reply. Just a fun thought during the AI section. During the reading talk I remembered the first time I bought a book in English, it was Eragon just a few months before it became released as a movie and I read it during a long train trip. Seeing a book in it's original language without oddly phrased translations was an unforgettable experience and I can't wait to experience that feeling again when I'm at a good reading level in Korean. ^^

Your videos are very motivational. Finally started to get serious and learn Japanese. Thank you for offering great resources to learn languages. Also, get better man!
Hearing the vowels is a lot easier as a singer, however, some languages have consonants that's really hard for non-natives to follow. Let's take Swedish sj sound which is 3 sounds really, and if I had been a foreigner I'd never be able to learn that. I have this phrase that's really good at telling if someone's a foreigner or not, because the rest of the language is pretty easy to learn, Charmerande sjukskötare skickar blickar åt charmiga östgötska sjuksystrar. Charming Caretakers Sends Looks to Charming Nurses from Östergötland. Now that's a tongue twister, not the usual one Sju Sjösjuka Sjömän på det Sjunkande Skeppet Shanghai... because it's boring. And trust me even if you have the vowel qualities of Swedish down to a tee, that's going to be hard to say.
