That green color would make a maggot gag - absolutely it’s the green of the 50’s. Great selection -I remember those colors on blankets, lawn furniture, lunch boxes, and girls’ poodle skirts. The part on the interior fender is the horn. Another great video
I love the old Science Fiction movie cars. Back when they made things to look good. Man that looks so sweet. The interior knocks me out. They picked the right modeler to review these kits.
I have the convertible version of the same kit...it is super sweet kit. The separate chrome pieces for the side trim save you time vs using foil or Molotov. The hardtop version is also nice and has the vintage coke machine included. In my humble opinion...if you like 50s cars and memorabilia...it's a must have!
Chris, I'm really lovin' how you're doing these cars. I really dig how you're showing the steps you go through. AND the colors you pick are awesome dude!
Chris - I am continually impressed by your ability to make kits of such quality so quickly. Outside of the fine build, the best thing in this video was the top view of the unpainted chassis where "MADE IN THE U.S." was prominently stamped! I hope the folks at Round 2 keep up the trend.
Ha, they are doing the same here. I guess one good thing about models as a hobby is it's not very social in person, keeps us safe! Thanks for watching, I loved the kit! Appreciate the support and nice words!
Dad had this exact car back in rhe late 50s and early 60s, he loved it. Ours was black with an ivory roof and green metallic interior. I built this back jn rhe 1990s when it was producedcby Lindberg and gave it to him, he loved it...
Love your videos my friend. I don't have much bench time to build models currently with four kids needing my attention; however, you videos keep me connected to the hobby. When I have 30 or 45 minutes of down time, I often spend it watching your vids. Keep up the good work & God bless.
Nice kit. I've wanted to build one for years. Spot lights.. yes they were so common in the 50's . people liked to play spot tag at the drive in movies.. Thanks for another fun build.
Absolutely beautiful job on this classic Ford. Fantastic color, superb detail, and outstanding workmanship make it a stunning example. I did noticed one historical inaccuracy though....amber front marker/turn signal lights didn't appear until 1963...I'm just sayin'...
Wow- very very sweet machine! Thanks for doing absolute justice to this beauty! No lies, AMT and Round 1 are really putting a lot of zest back into model building by releasing a lot of these really classy kits! I wasn't much for cars and trucks before, but boy howdy have I been building quite a few of them lately! Thanks for showcasing these kits, giving us an idea of what to expect, and sharing even MORE amazing HPIguys workshop model building tricks! They.. just.. keep.. coming! :)
Very nicely detailed. I would have preferred to add the fender shirts & lowered the rear suspension slightly (if that is possible?) - 'reverse rake' is what the 50s might have called it, I can't remember exactly. Green interior dash color perfect, oh yeah, she's a 50s Ford interior allright.
I wanted to mention that when I was at my local Target store, they have Rustolum 2X premium HIGH GLOSS spray paint (reg $4.97/12oz) on clearance for $3.47! Such a deal and I have been getting great results with this paint! Some HIGH GLOSS colors are similar to Chrysler Corp. "High Impact" colors of the muscle car era. Score!
Anther great build. Just to give you some information on the car. The trunk mounted spare was called a Coronado kit. Unlike the continental kit that was a full spare tire that used a different bumper. The stock 1952-53 Flathead car V8 was orange, close to Chevy orange. Just wanted to give some information on the kit. Love your builds.
Have too agree with other comments, this looks too be the old Lindberg 53 Ford mold's, nice kit !! I have the Lindberg hardtop and convertible, awesome review and build, thank's for posting another great video!!!!
Hello, That looks great !!! It sure looks like the Lindberg kit. I have 4 or 5 of them, the same one and the convertible Indy Pace car with wire wheels. AMT got the Lindberg kits, I am sure it is. That is like the 34 Ford pick up that AMT had way back in the early "60's and produced them for decades. Then Lindberg got them then they went back to AMT. I really like your color choices for it. The Lindberg Dodge L700 cabover truck is another great kit. Steering, opening doors and very detailed. You might really like it. When I saw that AMT had this kit the first thing that I thought of was it was the Lindberg kit. I can't wait for the next one. Thank You very much.
You know? My grandmother had a car just like this when she was a kid. I absolutely love this! I think I'll make it for her, though. I think she had a Hudson🤔😄
The marker lights should be clear amber turn signals didn't come into use until 1960 s also passenger outside mirrors were always an option until the 80s Looks like a real car 👍 great job
I just picked this car up at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. I'm thinking of going with a two tone Aqua color. I have some fun ideas with the Coke Machine. A friend of mine suggested I build a repair garage diorama and take pics of my cars in the garage. I just might do that. I have some other ideas for the decals.
Exelente trabajo como es tu costumbre, los videos cada vez mas completos y mejores ,felicitaciones y gracias por compartir tu estupendo trabajo, saludos cordiales desde Argentina
I like watching your videos for ideas and techniques. Its a pity being in the UK (Scotland) that the American AMT kits are not common, and hard to get a hold of. Many are really expensive to buy online here, I wanted a Ford Skyliner kit but it was too much at £50. Tamiya and Revel are good common kits here, but I like the look and styling of many of the 40's to early 70's yank tanks. Keep up the great videos.
Yeah, I feel the same not being able to get a lot of the nice Revell Germany and Zvezda stuff, etc. Any RG kits that have paint or glue in the box are not imported here. So I had to bootleg the KISS and ACDC semis from Ebay at silly prices.
I'm sorry if I missed a video BUT, Hpiguy, have you ever done a video of your entire built models/ display room ? I'm sure alot of subs ask this question. I'd love to see it. I am serious when I say, YOU and you only are responsible for getting me back into this hobby. Just before I came across your channel,I was on the verge of selling my entire unbuilt model collection. I hadn't cared about the hobby for over 30 years. I started watching your video's and like overnight,I got a bug up my ass to start building again. I had no paints,glues.....nothin. So, I got online and ordered everything I needed to do this hobby, and do it right. What ever revenue you make from this channel is probably not enough. Thanks to you, our economy is doing a little bit better LOL .😎👍🏻
That looks great in that barely green, green. I think a pearl or light ivory top would look real nice. Seemed to be a pretty good kit. I'm pretty sure that "thing" you keep mentioning is indeed the squirrel cage fan and the air box for the heater. Yep.
What “that” is is the heater core and fan assembly. You would find similar in Chevy’s if this era. They were big and mounted under hood instead of in the passenger area. The round area is of course the fan and the rest is the ducting into the cabin.
SUPER NICE BUILD ! This is really one of the nicer builds you have done, and I know you’ve done many. Your paint colors for the body and interior are spot on. I have never used floor polish for the final gloss coat, I am going to give it a shot on my“ Old Pro” Nova build. I am super impressed with the Molotow Liquid Chrome. I mean it is 99% chrome plating, true mirror finish. Question: If I use the Molotow chrome on the window trim will the final floor polish coat on the body eat through the Molotow nice shiny finish ? Also, I noticed that the Rustolium primer affects the Styrene, on an occasional kit premiering, it actually starts to like wrinkle into the finish as it drys. Have you ever run into this problem? Thanks again for an excellent build. Looking forward to viewing all your builds. J.P.
That green color would make a maggot gag - absolutely it’s the green of the 50’s. Great selection -I remember those colors on blankets, lawn furniture, lunch boxes, and girls’ poodle skirts. The part on the interior fender is the horn. Another great video

This was a total joy of a kit, I agree. When they reissue the drop top I'll tackle it again.

Nope, most kits are stored, a few are displayed and lots given away to friends or family. Very little to show.

What “that” is is the heater core and fan assembly. You would find similar in Chevy’s if this era. They were big and mounted under hood instead of in the passenger area. The round area is of course the fan and the rest is the ducting into the cabin.
Thanks for watching, I loved the kit! Appreciate the support and nice words!
