    Those pipe organ die-hard aficionados who refuse to accept the digital organ should listen to this masterful performance. Congratulations to Duchess for a sublimely controlled rendering and to Hauptwerk for the sampling technology that makes such perfect reproduction possible.

    Absolutely beautiful, and played with love! Imagine how Mr. Jaeger (“Nimrod”) must have felt, when he heard for the first time what Elgar had written for his friend.
    Also, the diminuendo was done perfectly, surely not an easy task!

    Really enjoyed following the actual music. The tension of the various chords as they are played and "milked" for all they are worth, is what makes this majestic piece SO POWERFUL.

    The most perfect organ version of Nimrod. The tempo is just magnificent, often organists tents to rush this piece and it's like to put it to death. This is just perfect. Also the choice of stops is very accurate. Many, many compliments!

    Answering Matt S.' question:
    For this recording I used a 3-manual Hoffrichter MIDI block with a 30-note Hoffrichter MIDI pedal on a Roland keyboard stand with 3 Crumar Long Throw expression pedals (I use 4 now) going into the 4 buses of a Yamaha MFC-10 foot controller (using that for combination changes as well, NOT using its expression pedal though), feeding all MIDI signals into an old MOTU MIDI Express XT MIDI interface and then into an RME Fireface audio interface.

    • @aidavdbrake
      @aidavdbrake  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Believe me, I've tried most of them. These are the best by far for organ music under US$100!

    • @aidavdbrake
      @aidavdbrake  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ordered a 4-man. custom touring organ from Hoffrichter. I've bought 5 church organ swell shoes by Klann, made mostly out of metal, for over US$200 each to be built into that organ. Organ MIDI Works sell South-Korean imitations of these, using more plastic parts. I don't think Klann's and Organ MIDI Works' swell shoes are plug and play midified like the Crumars.

    • @aidavdbrake

      I've been looking for a fifth Crumar Long Throw, but the original ones, the ones with the cables permanently attached to the front, seem to have been discontinued: V2, with a 6.3" connector on the side of the bottom plate, and V3, with side switches sticking out on top, have taken over. Both useless for the job.

    Can't get enough of your Nimrod performance, Aida. Especially after I watched your manual(!) registration of the piece, which I always thought was done using combos, this one tells me how much I did not yet explore the full capabilities of the Armley Schulze organ. Plus, it tells me that I should finally take the time to purchase and get those swell shoes installed! :-D

      The most tricky part will involve some upside-down jigsaw handling and choosing the right dimensions for the notch of the pedals... ^.^
      (Planned to use 2 shoes for II + III swells and a third one as a GC pedal.)

    This is the most beautiful performance of this piece I have ever heard. Thank you for your wonderful talents. If I may ask a question, is the diminuendo at the end accomplished by taking off stops with the crescendo pedal? If so, can you program the crescendo pedal stops in Hauptwerk?
