This video is certainly a very interesting one, i personally like deep dives with lots of information and details that get me even more curious about how things were built and how they are restored now. Progress reviews are also very nice to see and those kind of "did you know" shorts or videos :D Love em!
That's cool that you are restoring your ancestry fortress! It was a lot of work to build it centuries ago. Now you are remodeling it to the extent you are, in preserving it. It is quite impressive.
What I’ve heard is that the best way to make money is to post on TH-cam on a regular weekly schedule, as well as sharing exclusive content on the Patreon. Now that there is a large influx of TH-cam viewers this would probably be the best time to start that weekly schedule. This model has saved many buildings.
Thank you for this awesome and personal Q&A video. Congrats on passing the citizenship exams too! You are such a blessing for the family heritage and community heritage wrapped up in this old house. Thanks is insufficient to express the gratitude for your gifts of time and talent and passion to this restoration. Do keep taking care of yourself! Best wishes to the ongoing work you have devoted your life to. Getting there is still in my bucket list of life goals. Cheers and blessings.
Yes, you certainly have lived by beautiful beaches. For many people, California probably came to mind when you mentioned that but we both know the Lake Michigan beaches in the Holland area are very beautiful.
Great content thank you. I worked on a 150 roomed mansion for 3 years as a carpenter. I have a few questions if you are doing another answering session: 1. What is the oldest part of the hall? Oldest part of the building I worked on was a farmhouse/ barn. 2. How many rooms are there? 3. Can you tell us a bit about the people who lived in the hall? Does the hall have cellars? How did people preserve things in the past at the hall for the winter? e.g. was there an ice house, wine cellars etc.4. What sort of things would people cook? Is there a simple recipe subscribers could try out? 5. Have you looked at old maps of the area and the grounds? If so, perhaps a short video on the changes, discoveries you made. 6. Other than the priest holes, are there any hidden tunnels? There were always rumours of tunnels with the building I worked on to allow people to escape if needed. 7. Did the window tax in the past mean some windows were bricked or boarded up? 8 Which is your favourite room and why? 9. Are there any mysteries associated with the hall? 10. Have the entrances to the grounds of the hall changed over the centuries? E.g. a gate house or lodge, new roads, new driveways, landscaping, servant access can all affect how people enter and guests were received. I hope some of these are helpful, especially in providing content for guided tours etc.
This Q&A vid is great! My question(s) is/are: What is your dream for the Hall? ie: What does it look, sound, smell like? and at different times of the year? Do you envisage yourself, as a descendant of the Hopwood family, giving tours? PS: We have fabulous white beaches in the UK too! Check out Tiree..in Scotland! The Scilly Isles and most of Devon and Cornwall 😎☺️
At the Platinum Jubilee our late Queen ran a scheme of buying trees that would then be planted throughout the Commonwealth and I wondered if you would be doing something similar where we could buy plants or trees etc. My question is, what will you do with Hopwood Hall once it is complete?
Thanks Ginger! Great question- we may need to make a stand-alone video about the vision for the Hall as there is a lot of information to cover. I also really appreciate the suggestion on the trees - we do have one of the Platinum Jubilee trees at the Hall!
Marvelous! Have you had metal detectorists in to have a stickybeak what might be underfoot in the grounds? Love the history you're uncovering and saving 💜
You found your life's work and it is a noble cause. I really hope in the future of Hopwood Hall there is a place and activity that benfits at risks children and teens. My question is how is the roof coming along? I know once the Hall is water tight everything else will speed up.
Thank you! Yes great question and we will be answering that soon with a video update. Yes we will definitely continue to have activities that benefit both of those groups as we grow and expand.

Perhaps this has been covered in other videos, because I have not watched all of them, but is there an estimate on the total cost for the restoration? Also, are you planning to stay there after the restoration and live in the hall? Thanks.
Sounds like the majority of content is all going to Patreon. That's a shame because regular subscribers are also monetary contributors by watching ads, subscribing and liking.
Please can you let me know when then next open day will be? I feel I have missed so much lately as I've been flat out with a new job and sorting my parents out. Xx
Will you only use Hopwood for functions, or will you also live in your ancestral home? Have you thought about (my idea) of selling bricks to use as a walkway/wall to raise money? """Vandals and thieves, Bats and those bees, Climbing up ladders, and Crawling on knees. It's not always easy, It's not always fun, I can't wait, Until all of it's DONE! I hope you enjoyed the video! Our new follow-up Q&A is out now - th-cam.com/video/DNQ2SmZs8nQ/w-d-xo.html
I’d like to see an episode of your family tree and how it connects to Hopwood Hall.
Thanks Sally - great suggestion!

Thanks Bob! We are trying to release more but it's a bit tricky so much to do at the Hall. 😅 We also post several videos every week on Patreon.com
haha thanks@@elizabradley4797 - yes if only there were more hours in a day!

Great questions! Thank you! We will try to incorporate these into future episodes!
Love what you've done. If you want to see beautiful beaches. Go to Wales. Not far away from Middleton and stunning scenery ❤
Thanks David! Will do
There's a white sand beach in Scotland (Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris) if you want white sand.
I definitely must go!

I miss our beautiful beaches too Hopwood, and I only moved to Arizona after 30 years living in Laguna Beach! Richard
Yes Laguna Beach is beautiful!

Thank you!
Keep up the good work! And be sure to take breaks when you need them.
Thanks Sharon!
This q and a was fun. Which room do you love the most in the hall or are most excited to restore?
Thanks Emily! We'll be sure include that in an upcoming video!

Thanks for your question - it's tricky to know at this point but I've heard somewhere in the ballpark of £10-£13M.

I was wondering what will become of the place when it's finished, if he will still live there, does he own it, etc
