They are one of the pioneers of the classic Power Metal/ Speed Metal scene in Europe. Starting in the mid 80s. This song is a legend amongst fans of Power Metal.

In 1988 I saw Helloween for the first time opening for Ironmaiden. That concert is still today, one of the best I ever attended.

Helloween are legends of power metal, and this is one of the best songs in the genre. I discovered this a amazing band through Tommy Johansson's covers (you have to check out his cover of this song- brilliant). my favourite songs: A Tale That Wasn't Right, Forever And One, I Want Out and Keeper Of The Seven Keys

My tribute to the eternal drummer of Helloween, Ingo Schwichtenberg (Germany, Hamburg, 1965-1984) 🎃

You did a Majestica song before called "Above the Sky", that was a direct tribute to this song, even in the song structure. Helloween are basically the originators of this kind of melodic speed metal, which later became known as "power metal".

You want a treat of spectacular proportions? Just watch Keeper of the Seven Keys from that very same concert.
Liked and Subscribed to your channel. I enjoyed your reaction a lot. Watching your face during certain parts of the song spoke volumes and made me smile. I love Helloween.

Helloween are from Hamburg Germany and they became famous in Europe/Germany around the same time Metallica began to shine. Think that´s one possible explanation why they´re never get that big in the US like they´re here in Germany at least. In the late 80´s Metallica and Helloween are the most popular bands when it comes to speed/power metal.
The singer Michael Kiske was trained in classical singing I think and back in the days his voice sounds much more powerfull and he even could get a bit higher then he can get these days I would think. So if you liked his style of singing maybe you like to check out "Dr. Stein" which is a funny little song about a possible modern kind of "Frankenstein". If you do make sure to watch the longer original version. There is a very popular but not very well cut shorter version which was released for tv stations like MTV (about 4 mins and smth long while the original is about 7 mins and smth). If you watch that one you´ll be missing a lot of good guitar solos and also the story in the video doesn´t makes much sense.
But their all time masterpieces IMO are "Keeper of the seven keys part one & two". They´re a little bit like Metal opera without the keyboards and the skills of Toumas of Nightwish. But the best that kind of metal has to offer at their time which was the late 80´s. Nightwish was founded a few years later and continued and perfected the way melodic and fast metal can sound like.
Before them there where much bands who only competed in beeing louder and harder without many variations in their sound.
Exceptions are obviously the great bands we still know these days like Iron Maiden who were also a big influence to Metallica and Helloween and a few others.

Amazing song by an amazing band.
I envy you a bit because you’re just discovering them. It’s a long story, they’ve been around since 1985. In a nutshell - lots of significant line up changes and music - always top notch. Basically throw a dart
PS: Avoid their albums “Pink bubbles go ape” (1991) and “Chameleon” (1993), because they were trying to experiment more with their sound they are a departure from their sound. Also good, but different, don’t distract yourself with them for now

Halloween had a couple of videos on Headbangers ball back when MTV had music. It was probably middle to late 80s . I have a couple of cassettes from way back in the 80s
