    Got one for 18 months now? Very good. I make espresso, pour-over, French press... Will buy again, but I don't see why, it's built like a tank. The rubber grip slips, it's heavy, and the grind settings is not calibrated exactly. I think that's about all the downsides. I can live with it, I didn't even re-calibrate, but it's something that you can do if it bothers you.

    I thought this was funny, I bought this manual grinder to be methodical and slow with my grinding as a practice with my precious beans … then you spin it around faster than a Ferris wheel 😂 I do appreciate your video and content. Cheers ☕️

    Great video , concise and informative! Really liked it.
    One thing, from a jx pro owner I would like to add is that as you mentioned it has a great resolution but also you can grind like as fast as you can -> more fines and get a specific result from espresso, you can grind very slow, like 60rpm one turn per second, with same grind size and get another result. I did not expect that since it's manual but it is something I like to play with.
    Final thing, it's very easy to dose coffee in the PF and for pour over or moka.

    As usual, a great review. I have that grinder, which I bought to grind whilst I was waiting for my Niche Zero to be made. I figured I could use it later as a travel grinder. A definite improvement on the built in grinder on my DeLonghi. Once my Niche arrived, I loved it so much that I have never used the Jx-Pro again.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom, thanks for sharing. I also much prefer an electric grinder to a hand grinder, at least for everyday use. But hand grinders are good for traveling, or if I am too lazy to bring a big heavy grinder into my modest basement studio for a video. Cheers!
      Btw, never tried the Niche, but I would like to someday. I think I'd like the Mazzer conicals.

    just for people who wanna buy this grinder - i have used it for roughly 3 months and here are my thoughts:
    pro:
    -super high quality
    -feels really nice to use
    - grinds super fine and i got amazing shots
    - takes roughly 25 secs for 17g to grind
    cons:
    honestly just one, but this makes it a deal breaker for me and is the reason, I wanna sell it and switch to a automatic grinder like the eureka specialita.
    When grinding with a manual grinder, it actually really depends on how fast or slow you grind. this GREATLY impacts the final grind size of the coffee. So in practice you have to also keep in mind how fast you go and any variation in speed impacts the shot. Personally my goal is to have super consistant shots but this grinder makes it really really hard. It is good value but if you wanna really get into espresso making, go for the automatic grinders out there. It is just a hassle to imo

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I also find that hand grinding on a daily basis is a bit of a cumbersome process. Which electric grinder are you going for?

    I don't know why, but for some reason, with this grinder, using my espresso machine (Delonghi Dedica), I had to put the dial to 2.3 - 2.5 rounds to make espresso. The 1Zpresso's recommendation made the coffee too fine and the machine just couldn't push through it. Has anyone had the same issue? I am wondering if I am doing something wrong 😳

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  ปีที่แล้ว

      How old is your machine? After many years, espresso machine's pumps can lose some compression.

    • @0bzen22
      @0bzen22 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the roast. I can go from 10 (light roast) to almost 20 (dark roast). I shouldn't grind light roast for espresso, but hey.
      You adjust your grind to the machine as well. 32 seconds for 16 grams of beans, between 32-40 grams in the cup, so a 2 to 2.5 espresso for double cappuccinos and whatnot.
      It's a ballpark. On a Gaggia classic with bottomless and 9 bars mod.

    • @0bzen22
      @0bzen22 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh and if it's a 'cheaper' machine with a pressurised basket, these machines are suppose to take regular grind settings (for regular filtered coffee), not espresso settings. So yeah, I go to 24 on those, like for regular filtered coffee.

      Oh boy, I don’t want to lie. I recorded this about a month ago, so I’m not 100% sure. They were either Lavazza espresso (The purple bag) or Dinzler Roma, but I think they were Lavazza. I use a Brita filtered tapwater in Germany. Germany is known for really good tapwater. 👍🏻

      You could do 1zpresso grinder and a cordless drill. Bonus: you can use the cordless drill for other stuff around the house. The 1zpresso website literally says you can use those on all of their grinders. I think it's brilliant. I would buy a powerful/ expensive enough drill though, to get a lot of torque at low RPMs. That's what I plan to do myself. I absolutely hate my malkhonig/ Vario electric grinder.

    I'm torn by the indecision, I don't want to spend €400 in an electric grinder but I don't know if I'd be able to do all that work every morning before going to work. I'm afraid I'd give up on it after a week of use.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will be honest. Hand grinding gets old, fast. It only hurts once to spend €400 on a grinder, but hand grinding everyday will get cumbersome. Just keep in mind that an electric grinder can also be used for pourover, french press, aeropress, all sorts of coffee preparation types. I think it's worth it.

    • @UntakenNick
      @UntakenNick ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner What the hell, I ordered the Jx-Pro anyway. My reasoning is the same I apply for everything that can scale up in price: €400 would get me a mid-end grinder like a Baratza Virtuoso+ but the consensus in the web is that there are far better grinders like the nice zero for €800. If I spend €400 now I'll never buy another grinder having already spent that much, but if I spend €170 on the JX-Pro and I ever want to get a serious grinder I won't mind having gotten the JR-Pro and I'd have something to get started in the meantime.

    1 minor click = 12.5 microns, 1 major click = 50 microns, 1 full rotation = 500 microns? Hmm 🤔

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems to be right, 500 microns would be 0.5mm. If that is the thread pitch, then that would be right.
      For reference, the thread pitch on the Timemore is 1.0mm. So, not that different. Just a much better resolution.
