    Well, I've tested the LN / SR / TR range with the SA-5 (because of it's massive range)
    o) the LN has to be inside the SR range
    o) the SR has to be inside TR range
    that means you can place the SR/LN very far away indeed! (I placed them 135nmi apart and it still worked)
    BUT: it seems the need LoS. I haven't finished testing on that yet, but I've tried placing them in mountainous area and the LN wouldn't fire...
    Also: always place some Manpads, medium/short range SAM and AAA (SA-19 or M6) at the LN-, SR- and TR sites.
    cheers!

      Super valuable feedback. Can you imagine the reeee of being shot down bu a SAM that you think is over 100 miles away 🤣

      @@DCSChopsticks Yep, that's a real b1tch :P
      Esp. if you set the Range to 80%. The SA-5 takes a long while to lock on though... in a fast F-15 you're about half inside the radius of the LN range :-(
      And if you hit the deck, the SA-19 and Manpads will get you.
      Or you could also try and mask one SAM with another.
      Set the SA-5 with it's long range to "RED" and a more modern and deadly SA-10 (but with a shorter range) to AUTO (Off and triggers are even more unfair^^).

      Making a SAM net with anti-radiaton missile triggers and aircraft type triggers is hilarious but cruel. Especially if its a one life mission 😬

      @@DCSChopsticks That's true; it'd be a good SEAD training mission though. But for that one would need to change the reload-time of the SAMs (when you place a truck near them), becuase that's way too fast!
      They'd knock down every Harm / ALCM :-(

      Thank you, templates are great. You can even deploy them with triggers, which is useful too.

    Isnt there sam site templates already? are they just a matter of place and move as desired or do you have to set other things up like alert state in this vid? these bite sized vids are soo helpful man !! cheers

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some, but you need to check the skill levels and advanced instructions still as they are not set by default (until that gets patched please)

    I'm doing something wrong, for some reason, the sams won't shoot even though I put the alert on.

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is usually either: a missing unit like a radar, the SAM is blocked by terrain, the skill level of the SAM is too low or the launchers are too far from the radar (if you are spreading them out)

    Why are there not pre-made unit groups for the various types of SAM sites. This idea of picking individual units seems overly tedious and requires one to be an expert in unit make-up. This should be simpler.

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are templates in the game. You can also download more from the DCS user files on the main website.

    If I wanted to setup a SA6 only two options exist that say SA6. Do I need both? Do I need a truck?
    Its pretty ridiculous that I must waste this many hours to simply setup a working SA6. It's absurd actually. Why does DCS hate its customers so much?

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need at least 1 STR unit, and at least 1 launcher in the same group. Set the AI skill to at one of the two higher skill levels.
