    There’s a small vent on the cabinet that faces the house, don’t forget that one. Also it’s a good idea to keep snow off the grey valve in the gas line coming from the house to the generator. It has a small oriface that needs to be kept clear of ice and snow. If it clogs the engine won’t start. Are you missing your 3039R? This storm looks like a real character builder. Stay safe.

    Did you ever think about building a wooden type of shelter around it to keep snow away from the intake and vents? Probably still have to do a little shoveling but it would keep the snow further away from the generator. With some crafty woodworking you could make something that doesn’t look like an eye sore. Would need to be able to open completely for maintenance of course.

    Why wouldn't you or the company that installed your generator have put it in a structure, When I worked at Marvin Windows all the generators were housed in buildings , yes a bigger outfit ,but the same idea, you can always vent the exhaust out of the building, it's just a thought. Now that is some snow. Luckily it looks to be dry snow, and not frozen wet snow, or you would have had a lot more difficulties clearing the snow away from the generator. Here the temperature have been a bit higher forma couple of days, so a bit of snow has melted. But a snow fall last night had me out for 3 hours today clearing snow. Luckily not in such winds as you have, but enough wind that I got some snow in my face while snowblowing. Important with good and warm clothes in such weather. But as the 24 of Desember is coming to its end, I hope the winter snow will also come to an end soon. But we ordinarily have snow outside until May, so the winter has just started I am afraid.

    • @malelonewolf80
      @malelonewolf80 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maraudermitchelli I feel you on that. Though this winters snow, in my country, ordinarily would not present a problem, though bothersome, this winter I have a bad leg which makes snow removal tiresome and a bit painful as it does not give my leg time to rest and heal. So, with that amount of snow you have, which require clearing of the vents manually (by shovel) who would not be tired from it. And it does not get easier with age either. I was thinking, seing your video, of the concept of snorkels on cars, to allow the car engine to get air. I wonder if something like a couple of snorkels could be attached to the generator vents to get the intake and exhaust higher up from the ground. Though it would not prevent snow carried by the wind to get into the wents, it would at least not get burried by snow. But hereˋs to hoping the blizzard will pass away from your area, and that we will get a nice, snow trouble free winter.
