That small moment when Dumbledore was disarmed, became the pivoting part in owning the Elder Wand. Lol poor Malfoy. He didn't even know he inherited the most powerful wand ever.
Can't believe that barely anyone is talking about Tom Felton's performance in this scene. Incredible actor. Definitely best out of the younger cast! :)
“Severus . . .” The sound frightened Harry beyond anything he had experienced all evening. For the first time, Dumbledore was pleading. Snape said nothing, but walked forward and pushed Malfoy roughly out of the way. The three Death Eaters fell back without a word. Even the werewolf seemed cowed. Snape gazed for a moment at Dumbledore, and there was revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face. “Severus . . . please . . .” Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore. “Avada Kedavra!” A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape’s wand and hit Dumbledore squarely in the chest. Harry’s scream of horror never left him; silent and unmoving, he was forced to watch as Dumbledore was blasted into the air. For a split second, he seemed to hang suspended beneath the shining skull, and then he fell slowly backward, like a great rag doll, over the battlements and out of sight.
It always seemed to me that you could hear the pain in Severus' voice as he killed Dumbledore. Not enough for the others to notice. But enough for the audience to know how much he doesn't want to do it. like a tiny cry.

Supa Hot Fire It's crazy even though I had read the book and knew what was going to happen, that part sent a joint of sorrow through my heart when it happened.
Man. I've been watching Harry Potter for as long as I can remember. Alan dying actually feels like a part of me died. Snape's death in Deathly Hallows part 2 will now be even more unbearable to watch. RIP
Agreed. The day I knew Alan died I felt Snape was taken away from us for a 2nd time. Gee, I used to wish J.K would bring Snape back using a time turner...but how do we bring Alan back to give us that legendary, unparalleled, irreplaceable, performance...even if Rowling is kind enough to fulfill our wishes?
It always struck me that when the death eaters appear Dumbledore appears very frightened. He knows he going to die but somehow being killed by a stranger was most terrifying to him. When Snape appears he almost seems to go at ease and have an immense sense of relief.
His fear was that they were going to push Malfoy to kill him, which he would have abide with enough pressure. After Snape appeared, Dumbledore knew that that was not going to happen. Malfoy was no longer going to kill him. Snape was, which was according to his plans.
Snape definitely had the best “Avada Kedavra” delivery in the series. He knew he had to kill him for Voldemort to fall and it still hurt him to say those words.
That "Avada Kedavra" broke my heart. You can just hear Severus' voice crack and that it's shaking. I love The Half-Blood Prince, would def be my favorite movie if I just didn't cry at the end all the time. I'm thinking about it like 13567864 times.
@@eljordinio7647 In the book binding curse was removed from harry when dumbledore hit the ground which suggests snapes curse didnt kill him, the fall did
For me, the most intense scene in the series. When Snape shows up there, all eyes are suddenly on him. No music or anything, just Dumbledore's final request.
GOD the pain in Draco's voice when he says "Or he' gonna kill me" just broke my heart... I know it's just acting and it's just a movie/book but I CANT GET OVER DRACO GODDAMN MALFOY MY SWEET BABY
+Jakob Jensen Easy to say now, after reading/watching HP, not then when HP was first out. You have right that this is a hint of the true Severus, but next minute he kills the man who was unconditionally trusting him. The viewer cannot decode this rightly. There are many spurs of the truth that JK Rowling scattered throughout her beautiful story, but one cannot imagine the extend of the final well-crafted and reasoned twists. One could sense many times during the series that Severus had some extra motives, cause he was always thoughful and this was making him a very different type of "vilain". However, not many people would expect this turnout of things
The books are a bit different from the scene in the movie. Harry is under the invisibility cloak and dumbledore casts a mobility spell on Harry so that he can't react to what is going on. Harry and snape don't interact like they do here in the scene. Snape just rocks up.
I swear, toward the end of the series, I actually feel pretty bad for Malfoy. He is given the task of wiping out Dumbledore, which everyone and even Voldemort himself knows he will be unable to carry out, and in further reality this is a punishment on Lucius (and ultimately Narcissa) due to Lucius's failures regarding the diary and most recently the Prophecy in the Department of Mysteries. He discarded the diary and it was destroyed and he failed to retrieve the Prophecy on Harry, and was ultimately caught, exposed and imprisoned in Azkaban. Having had enough of Lucius's fuckups, the Malfoys ultimately lost favor with Voldemort and were from there on treated like shit, with Draco's assigned task being the most brutal punishment to his parents, and after Dumbledore's death (at the hands of Snape, much to the relief of the Malfoy parents), they fell from grace completely and were nothing more than servants and shields to Voldemort. Their house was commandeered by him and Voldemort most likely only let them live due to their blood status and loyalty, or perhaps because of their connection to the Lestranges, who had not yet lost favor. But yeah, throughout the whole sixth film, Malfoy goes from the way he usually is to looking pale and heavily sick-looking and frail and flat out tortured by what he's assigned to do, and by the time he reaches Dumbledore on the top of the tower he is so close to breaking down right in front of him, feeling sick, teary and fearing for his life, and ultimately feeling like he has no choice. The poor bastard has to suffer for his father's mistakes? That's pretty fucked up considering Lucius was already sent to Azkaban, but it's possible that Voldemort wanted to punish the family more severely and also Lucius was untouchable at the time. Lucky for Draco, who was expected to fail the whole time, Snape comes to his rescue before he could break down completely.
"Thats pretty fucked up considering his father went to Azkaban " We're talking bout voldy here lol. If he could be the devil he would as a part time just for kicks
One of my favorite parts of this scene is that Dumbledore tries to help Draco. This boy has come to kill him, but is terrified. Dumbledore understands Draco’s feelings, that he’s just a boy caught in the middle. It always touches my heart. Incredible acting by Tom, Alan, and Michael.
It's crazy how by killing him, Snape was actually proving his loyalty to Dumbledore, and at this point the audience who hadn't read Deathly Hallows thought Snape had turned bad. It's mind-blowing to think about the insane plot twists in the series, especially the ones involving Snape
Snape's soul is intact, according to Dumbledore, because he knew he was helping Dumbledore to die with dignity, as Dumbledore had said to him a year before after being cursed beyond help.
A lot of people seem to think that when Dumbledore said, "Severus...PLEASE", that he was asking for Severus to kill him. If you read both the Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows, you would know that this isn't the case. I mean, Dumbledore did want Snape to kill him so that Draco's soul wouldn't be torn apart...but there is much more to it than that. When Dumbledore said "...PLEASE", he meant it as "Severus, please do not blow your cover," as Snape was disenchanted with the idea of killing someone he was close to. HE DIDN'T WANT TO KILL DUMBLEDORE...you could even see it on his face and feel it while reading the books. There was a lot that still needed to be done and Dumbledore couldn't afford for Snape to let himself get caught. The real meaning behind that "please" was this: do no blow your cover, a lot still needs to be done...plain and simple.
Dank951 I like this point, it's sort of a "remember your orders", as well as a reaffirmation of "Hey Snape remember how I said you could kill me? well, yeah, that's still the plan, please do it" ... And of course, let's not forget the _main_ main reason why he's saying "Please": Snape knows the plan, Dumbledore knows the plan; what they really needed was to convince everyone *else* up there that Snape was working for Voldie. By saying "Please" in a pleading tone, he was selling the image of Snape betraying Dumbledore, which would ensure Snape's cover wasn't blown. He probably would've said "Snape, don't kill me, the Order will fall and everyone will die!!" if he'd thought it'd sell his betrayal better.
MrProgrampro, also, also, how the fucking fuck did Dumbledore didn't think "Hm...The most powerful wand to exist, well, better not give that to anyone before dying, that won't probably cause misfortune to anyone" (CinemaSins voice)
The look a relief on Dumbledore's face when he saw Snape. He knew then that he had won beyond all doubt. He intentionally let Draco disarm him, knowing that Voldemort would never suspect Draco of being the owner of the elder wand and with Snape's appearance, Voldemort's final fate was almost certainly sealed. Dumbledore died happy.
***** You are right. This was the original Dumbledore's plan which failed when Drako disarmed Dumbledore so he became the wand's master. Then at Deathly Hallows, Harry disarms Drako then HE becomes the wand's master. In the final duel between Voldemort and Harry both wands (harry's and the Elder one) showed true alligeance to Harry. That's why Harry beating Voldemort (an all powerfull wizard even without the Horcruxes) could actually happen.
I like to imagine that Dumbledore was going to throw his wand to the floor, before Draco used Expelliarmus. If he wasn't armed, he couldn't be disarmed. And then his defeat would have been the curse that killed him from Snape.
I love how Snape motions to Harry, "Don't make a sound, or we'll both be done in" Snape has been protecting him this whole time. And yet throughout all these years, he STILL treated Snape like shit
Alan Rickman's performance was spot on. You can sense the pain and uneasiness in his voice when he says, "avada kedavra". He has the weight of the wizarding world on his shoulders.
Tom Felton did such an awesome job at playing Draco Malfoy. No one could ever have done such a great performance on Draco. You could feel his anguish and knew that he couldn’t kill Dumbledore.
in the book, it is so much different from this scene: Dumbledore must freeze harry when he's in his invisibility cloak right? Two brooms must have laid on the floor (according to the book) and Snape would not know the presence of Harry too?
I never cried while reading a book except for this one. Death of Dumbledore was so unexpected. He seemed so invincible. I refused to accept his death for while. I thought maybe there is some plot twist and Snape didn't really kill him.
This film was one of the weakest of all the Potter films but this scene is outstanding. Alan Rickman's performance was especially good, even if he barely spoke in this bit.
No, sorry but in my opinion the music in this film was the worst out of all the films, maybe bar the Order of the Phoenix. And I found this film literally too physically dark to see anything that's going on. That alone detracted from the film more than anything for me.
I remember on opening night four years ago when this scene came on...at least several people screamed when Snape struck Dumbledore with the killing curse. Even though it was legitimately premeditated between them, it's still sad...
The way Dumbledore said Please gives me chills. Michael Gambon you absolute beauty. He nailed his role as Dumbledore especially in the last OOTP, HBP and DHP2.
When I saw this movie I was only 10, so when Snape killed Dumbledore I was absolutely certain he would be the bad guy. And I remember my dad kept saying in that very moment: 'He didn't want to do it. His voice, his voice cracked when he said the spell.' I can hear it clearly now.
I've just gotta say... as much as I was initially disappointed by Michael Gambon (Dumbledore asked calmly), he really grew into the role by this one. He was so much calmer, wiser, and no longer screaming and running full speed like a madman. That moment when he telling Harry to hide himself at 0:58 is almost exactly how I imagined it in the book when I read it. And his heart literally breaking for Draco before our very eyes... 😭 RIP Michael Gambon!!
I love this scene. Not because of Dumbledore's death but because of Alan Rickman's beautiful acting throughout this scene. It truly is a thing to admire..... Always
All the sign were there. Dumbledore saying to Harry to Trust Him. Severus being silent and telling Harry to keep it silent. And the final act... So subtle, yet effective.
Woody Nassif I think voldemolt. he knew grindelwald as a teenager not a little boy. But he knew tom riddle as a boy and watched him grow up. Now he also could be referring to snape. who grew up and was seduced by the death eater philosophy, losing lily by calling her a mudblood, hating james and letting that lead him to death eaters before being a spy and then ignoring harry. only to end up redeeming himself.
He could honestly also mean Snape. Snape initially chose the wrong path, which lead to him serving as a Death Eater as a young adult. However, his love for Lily eventually promoted him to see the light. Dumbledore could be comparing Snape to Draco, as they both found themselves wrapped in darkness against their own will. His offer to help Draco may be based on how he was able to save Snape from the brink of evil.
people hate draco as a character and criticize people who do like him by saying “you only like him because an attractive actor portrayed him” but it’s so much more than that: he grew up in a strict pure blood family and the believes that his parents had were pushed on him yes i know the same happened with sirius and regulus BUT draco always looked up to his dad like his dad was his biggest hero and he always wanted to make his dad proud. so i think that’s why he just believed what his dad said. but when his dad went to azkaban he finally realized that the man that he looked up to his entire life wasn’t the great men he always thought he was. during that time he probably doubted everything that was told to him like he saved harry his life when he knew damn well that it was him. harry also saved his life because he’s harry he saves everyone their lives even pettigrew the person responsible for his parents deaths. draco is such a complexed character and i’m STILL salty that jk did not give him a redemption but she made snape the person that bullied harry for 7 years the hero and not a 17 year old kid who had no choice.
"You must be the one to kill me severus... It is the only way. Only then, will the dark lord trust you completely"
Well, he also got killed by it, but Voldemort killed the wrong guy :8 Draco disagree Him, he was the new owner.

in the book, it is so much different from this scene: Dumbledore must freeze harry when he's in his invisibility cloak right? Two brooms must have laid on the floor (according to the book) and Snape would not know the presence of Harry too?
That sounds right
I never cried while reading a book except for this one. Death of Dumbledore was so unexpected. He seemed so invincible. I refused to accept his death for while. I thought maybe there is some plot twist and Snape didn't really kill him.
Same here I thought after the Death Eaters left with Snape, Dumbledore would be like "that was a close one Harry" but no he was really dead😢
Dumbledore: Severus..
Dumbledore: Please..
Snape: Avada kedavra
What is this? a screen for ants?
This film was one of the weakest of all the Potter films but this scene is outstanding. Alan Rickman's performance was especially good, even if he barely spoke in this bit.
Probs the best film in the series... It uses the music so well and isn't crazy full of action more important parts of the series
No, sorry but in my opinion the music in this film was the worst out of all the films, maybe bar the Order of the Phoenix. And I found this film literally too physically dark to see anything that's going on. That alone detracted from the film more than anything for me.
+Ed Lyness it was one of the best films in the series!
I personally disagree.
+Ed Lyness that's fine.
Draco and Harry looked so broken 😥😢😰💔💔💔
When you realize that 'please' means 'please kill me'. That gave me chills and tears.
If you listen closely Snape's voice cracks when he says Avada Kedavra, unbelievable acting from Alan Rickman
i cannot read this part without bursting into tears every time
"Severus...please..." how different those words sound now that i know what i know :(
4:01 that sudden expression change of Draco is everything.
I feel so sorry for Harry... and Draco... Snape... and Dumbledore!!!
Now it's all about Han Solo's death from the hands of his own son!
Might be for the same reasons too!
an d his son looks just like snape *IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!*
+HeavyDonkeyKong OH MY GOSH you're right!
Han's death was the death of star wars.
" trust me ... trust me " last bumbledore words to harry 😣
I remember on opening night four years ago when this scene came on...at least several people screamed when Snape struck Dumbledore with the killing curse. Even though it was legitimately premeditated between them, it's still sad...
Never trust 37 year olds when Ur 16

My poor little baby Draco 😭 Tom did such an outstanding job!
Well, it looks like Dumbledore got the last laugh. RIP, Alan.
Dude, I almost cried! My voice was breaking when I was yelling about it and I felt the tears forming in my eyes
moved me to tears the first time in the movie
He goes out the same way snape does in die hard!
Only I love how Snape said AVADA KEDAVRA??
I wanna see a comment from 10 years ago being like “YOU SPOILED THIS FOR ME”
4:38 cause baby now we got bad blooddd
lmao best comment ever 😂
Taylor Swift's new song! Lol
I get your point!
Dumbledore is gone. Snape did a good job.
Lord Voldemort keep telling that to yourself Tom. He was fooling you all along
Snape: Abra cadabra! * Kills dumbledore *
Me crying 😢
4:26 Alan Rickman’s delivery is both golden and tear-jerking. He might as well be saying “God forgive me…”
Dobbys death was the worst
+Grady Redman and Fred's.
And Sirius
And hedwig
And Remus lupins and Tonks
Na the pumpkin is the worst death in the series
I will miss you Dumbledore. You weren't only a great opponent but a I can't believe I'm saying this. A friend in a odd way.
I love this scene. Not because of Dumbledore's death but because of Alan Rickman's beautiful acting throughout this scene. It truly is a thing to admire.....
Always
i love how snapes voice shakes as hes saying avada kedravra. like he really doesnt want too and that hes crying on the inside about doing so
3:08 I'm crying😢😢I love Draco so much
Alexis Alvarez me too
"Severus, please..." I love this fucking scene.
Snape is Dumbledore's son. Oh wait, this isn't The Force Awakens. Never mind.
lmao
+BallsDeep69 What? So Snape is Han Solo's son? Fucking spoilers.
Get any star wars shit out of hear, we don't want a legend like harry potter polluted with shit like star wars.
bob Get off your high horse. No one gives a shit.
+bob ummm..... Butt hurt much
All the sign were there.
Dumbledore saying to Harry to Trust Him.
Severus being silent and telling Harry to keep it silent.
And the final act... So subtle, yet effective.
I love the way Bellatrix says "Go on, Draco! NOOOWW!" xD
She said calmly
Imagine Severus vs Voldemort I feel like that should have happened.
When dumbledore said that he knew a boy that made all the wrong choices, does he mean himself, voldemort or grindelward?
Woody Nassif I think voldemolt. he knew grindelwald as a teenager not a little boy. But he knew tom riddle as a boy and watched him grow up. Now he also could be referring to snape. who grew up and was seduced by the death eater philosophy, losing lily by calling her a mudblood, hating james and letting that lead him to death eaters before being a spy and then ignoring harry. only to end up redeeming himself.
Zexon Hairi 'Boy' could mean either himself, Voldemort or Grindelwald
He could honestly also mean Snape. Snape initially chose the wrong path, which lead to him serving as a Death Eater as a young adult. However, his love for Lily eventually promoted him to see the light. Dumbledore could be comparing Snape to Draco, as they both found themselves wrapped in darkness against their own will. His offer to help Draco may be based on how he was able to save Snape from the brink of evil.
4:20 Always give me the chills the way Snape says "Avada Kedavra"
Malfoy be like: Lord Voldemort chose me to kill Dumbledore but Snape beats me to it... wait til my father hears about this!
people hate draco as a character and criticize people who do like him by saying “you only like him because an attractive actor portrayed him” but it’s so much more than that: he grew up in a strict pure blood family and the believes that his parents had were pushed on him yes i know the same happened with sirius and regulus BUT draco always looked up to his dad like his dad was his biggest hero and he always wanted to make his dad proud. so i think that’s why he just believed what his dad said. but when his dad went to azkaban he finally realized that the man that he looked up to his entire life wasn’t the great men he always thought he was. during that time he probably doubted everything that was told to him like he saved harry his life when he knew damn well that it was him. harry also saved his life because he’s harry he saves everyone their lives even pettigrew the person responsible for his parents deaths. draco is such a complexed character and i’m STILL salty that jk did not give him a redemption but she made snape the person that bullied harry for 7 years the hero and not a 17 year old kid who had no choice.
people do realise Dumbledore had the ring curse slowly already killing him?
Voldemort wanted him out of the way quickly.
That “Please” hits so much harder after Snapes memories.
