    The fact that to this day people are still finding new things in The Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, and even SKYRIM goes to show how detailed these games are.

      @@jinnywins1 In my own opinion, Skyrim with mods is one of the most fun gaming experiences if done properly. Don’t get me wrong the unmodded version of the game is fun as well, however with mods there’s so much more you can do.

    I was a little surprised to not see RDR2 in that list. As far as getting lost in a world where there are interesting stories, characters, and endless detail, that game is it. Even on my 3rd playthrough, I was still finding new things/areas I'd never noticed before.

      Speaking of Red Dead, I just started playing RDR1 again today on Xenia Emulator on my gaming laptop. I still own my release month PS3 copy and the GOTY edition with Undead Nightmare on 360 but my PS3s and XB1S are all dead so I'm emulating it. It's been years since I've done a full playthrough of it.
      RDR1's world doesn't get enough love. It's not as pretty as 2's but it nails that lonesome gunslinger vibe of old Cowboy movies perfectly. It's a meditative experience riding through the areas of RDR1 while seeing the beautiful skies. Ut's also much more eerie feeling than RDR2.

    Glad to see Dragon's Dogma getting more love. It's also the only game I've ever played where your characters body type effects the game - if you are too tall, you can't fit into certain areas, too short, you can't get to certain cliffs. The bigger you are, the more you carry and the smaller you are, the more fast you are.

      No game has come close to the mind boggling nature of oblivion to me when I first played it. The idea that I could walk from the mountains to the imperial city without any barriers, with a bunch of stuff to do along the way, was insane. I had never played an open world game before that, and it was also the first Xbox 360 game I had ever seen or owned. Absolutely mind blowing graphics, physics, world, customization, everything was so different and fresh.

    Loved that you put Kingdoms of Amalur in there, you play Skyrim with all the muted color tones and then pop in Reckoning, and its like whooooooooooaaa, so many COLORS! Dragon Age Inquisition, love it on so many levels--storyline, characters, environment and voice acting-all masterfully done. Finding Skyhold for the first time literally took my breath away - wandering around in Skyrim is like being on vacation...with highwaymen and dragons. Subnautica is exciting and calming at the same time, how can that be? Love these games so much, they helped me through some really tough times. I can't beat the monstrous child so I got stuck on progression and put it down since then. I don't mind challenges but if it stops me progressing I'm easily put off. I might go and do some other quests if I can be bothered. Got it on PS5 for cheap before the update and price hike. Right now I am knee deep in Jedi Survivor. Even then I put aside some of the challenges while I do other stuff and level up a bit more. Already at 76% in and put aside one of the main quest boss fights for the moment (I died so many times on Jedi Knight difficulty). Guess I am not a Souls type gamer.

    I spent hundreds of hours on the PS2 game Steambot Chronicles. While the game doesn't have anywhere near the same level of branching narratives like Skyrim, Fallout, or most of the games on this list, you could still do a lot of things and never have the exact same play through. For one, you had this little "personality test" at the start of every game, which determined things like how much money you could earn and how you would react in some scenes of the campaign. Then you had a host of options to choose from during many interactions, from playing the amnesiac as a nutjob who salutes everybody he meets to demanding money from everyone who asks you for a ride during missions. It got to the point that I had so many saves on a single memory card, with dozens of different sessions, that I ultimately had delete everything just to well and truly start fresh (and not eat up as much memory with the 40-50 different saves, lol)

      @bernardoheusi6146 Origins was the best game, but that doesn't make DAI a bad game at all. Origins wasn't nearly as big as Inquisition ended up being, and there's honestly a lot more content.

    • @celanon8460
      @celanon8460 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thereallaw244 Though, some might say that a good chunk of side-quests isn't even particularly necessary to the overall plot of the game. Like the Hinterlands, there's an insane amount of quests in that area that it almost becomes a chore to complete them. I hope that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf brings back the heavy old-school RPG narratives and array of dialogue responses that Origins has while retaining the rich atmosphere of Inquisition's maps and cutscenes. I also hope they at least make the tactics more specific like Origins.

    I got 4k hours in vermintide 2, i can confirm, its an addictive immersive game, 5 characters who hate each others have to cooperate, the roleplay is so perfect that when playing with randoms you don't call them by name you call them by race (elf, dwarf, wizard, etc), its better with friends but its also good with randoms, i acquired a bunch of friends playing that.

    Really glad to see Kingdoms of Amalur get some recognition. It's kind of funny how you didn't even mention the diverse options for cross-classing in the game. At the time of the original, I don't know if any game had gone that far with giving you total freedom with character options. I loved that game from the get-go; I'm always trying to get more people to try it. It sucks that so many mistakenly think the game 'flopped' and caused the studio downfall, and therefore assume it was bad, when actually it did fairly well. It just wasn't enough to save a horribly mismanaged company. 😢

    In the case of Skyrim, the modding community is huge factor that significantly extended the lifespan of this amazing game ( at least for me, I would probably not come back into it so many years after I finished it several times without mods).

No one ever knows what Kingdoms of Amalur is when I talk about it, but it's been in my personal top 5 favorite games of all time for years, and its story absolutely enthralled me when I experienced it for the first time. I'm glad the re-release of it got it some more attention after all this time.

    A gaming friend was walking along a road in the game we play, Generation Zero. He met no machines, which was unusual, but kept walking. It was late afternoon and the light began to fail. As it did, it started to snow and the snow began to *settle*. After several minutes the land was white as far as the eye could see. Suddenly, to his right, he saw lights up on top of a hill, shining through the now total darkness and, turning towards it, he walked across a ploughed field, completely covered in snow and found a house, abandoned, but with the lights still on. He went in and closed the door behind him. Looking out through the window, the snow had now stopped and a huge moon came up from behind the hill opposite, filling the whole landscape with reflected white light. He said it was the most spectacular gaming moment of his life.
