MRCP is one of the requirement to apply for higher specialty training at ST3 level. You will have to clear national recruitment process for entering training. You can only become a consultant if you complete CCT/CESR. Registrar is equivalent to senior resident in India.

You can theoretically apply for ST3 dermatology but problem will be to get alternative core competency form signed off without general medicine experience. So 3+4 years is probably the best way. Please watch this video where I have discussed the training pathways and competition ratios for application in all medical specialities including dermatology.

    Respected sir
I am an Indian citizen and a foreign medical graduate from Philippines. According to new NMC rules of India, they accepted clerkship in Philippines as equivalent to internship in India and awarded us permanent registration straight away. So in short, I didn't do my internship/foundation year 1 in India. I am planning to pursue masters in general medicine or general surgery in India and appear for MRCP or MRCS in the future. So does skipping foundation years pose a problem for me in the future for my GMC registration if I pass my MRCP or MRCS after my post graduation from India.

Moving to Australia and NZ is a very popular option for local graduates but its better to move after CCT as you are exempt from any further exams. Moving after MRCP will not allow you to become a consultant in Australia. Whether its worth moving abroad is your personal decision as we all have different circumstances and perspectives.I am trying to provide all the necessary information in this youtube channel so that you can make an informed decision. Best wishes.
