Sir how much time does it take for a registrar to reach a consultant post .? Also after completing MRCS, back in India, at which phase of British medical training will the doctor be inducted ?
Sir, I have heard that after mrcp there is lot of competition to get into training pathway of internal medicine in UK . Is this so ??? And if I won't get training job and would like to work in non-training job then is it good to do so becoz i would come back to India or I would work in gulf country after getting some experience in UK whether training or non-training .
Training posts are quite competitive and getting difficult to enter. You can work in non training posts and complete MRCP - this will help to get jobs in gulf. However CCT is the best option.
Hello suman sir …….i read many replies of your ….somewhere you mentioned - “if you are a MS passout from india , you have to apply for ST3 , not CT1. Which is extremely difficult “. You mean , getting into a training ST3 post is difficult right ? If that’s so , what are the scopes for a MS passout and how one can improve his CV being MS passout from india? also , i have heard from my peers , in general all the surgical branches are extremely difficult to get into in UK because of competition from UK graduates and recruitment bodies favouring UK passout above IMGs….is there any truth to this?
I don't think there is much scope for career progression in surgical fields in the UK now. It's extremely competitive to enter training so chances are slim as an IMG. Only reasonable option is to work in a non training job, learn some advanced skills and return back to India
@@SumanPaulDoc on the contrary, is getting training job after PLAB or MRCP still easier as it was some years ago? My whole decision of pursuing PLAB is based on finding a training post in short span, my 3 seniors already are stuck without job from 7 months, advising me not to think about plab. Do you have any advice to improve CV for me as an fresh intern in india? ( i hope you make a video dedicated to CV and portfolio)
th-cam.com/video/CduP10wPAOo/w-d-xo.html Medicine is an easier option as compared to surgery. However since 2020, the competition has grown exponentially and job saturation is a reality.
Hi. Thanks for sharing this information. But in whole video I didn't get that what Dr. Krishnendu was doing in UK i.e. post wise? Was he consultant in urosurgery or was he doing his speciality training right after clearing MRCS part 1&2..? Please clear this question for me. Thank you.
Hello sir , first of all the video was very informative, so thankyou sir And can you please tell me that after MS in India and completing MRCS , can we get paid fellowships in minimal access surgery or urology directly in UK and is it recognized in India when we come back
Fellowships are not available in UK like in USA and they are not recognised as formal training. Most fellow posts are non training posts which might offer some specialist experience.so you might get jobs in urology, minimal access surgery but they will not be recognised in India or UK as training.
Sir, I jus finished my MS general surgery and got rank in SS probably will take uro.. Will it be possible to prepare and give MRCS exam during my residency?
lets say- i did ms surgery in india, now i did mrcs 1,2 and move to uk. Now- - - i am in ST 3? if yes- it must be in ss directly. right?? please explain if it can be in urology or not. btw:--- if i preferred plab 1/2- i had to do fy2 and ct 1/2/3 and then i would have gotten sx degree and then would have started st 1. i think getting ms sx in india and then moving to uk is better option as it saves my year/2 as well.
1. Your job description will be ST3 based on your previous experience, but you are not in a training programme so not in SS. Of course, you can get into non-training posts in urology after MRCS. 2. You don't need FY2 after PLAB. Most doctors will work in some SHO posts, get their CREST form signed, and then apply for Core surgical training. This will save you more time compared to MS and more options to actually enter training rather than spending years waiting to get into training.
@@SumanPaulDoc so basically u r saying not to do ms surgery in india and follow uk directly to save years. rgt? and i need to give mrcs to become SHO without fy2 right?

Hello sir, I am a MS general surgery resident in India, entering the final year of my residency. Hello Suman, I am a non acd junior resident and wants to persue ENT. MTI routes sounds quite appealing. Is it a good idea to move to UK with MTI instead of going via PLAB. Kindly guide on it. Thanks
Sir can you give the information regarding how to proceed after completing Internal medicine pg in India and clearing MRCP both steps.Should we again do speciality training in internal medicine in UK or can we do super speciality training directly

@@SumanPaulDoc middle grade means ? Does it mean that a neonatology dm holder her have to work as pediatrician initially? Or can we go directly to neonatology training

Do they also have to go through all these Speciality training years again after taking MRCS or start again as an SHO? Or can they work as a consultant directly? Please kindly clarify. After Mch, apply for registrar jobs and pick one of the 2 pathways CCT/CESR to become consultant. Both will take 6 years around and during that u need to do the FRCS as well. U can become locum consultant without them, but not right away
1. What is the probability that an Indian mbbs graduate get surgery residency in UK after being an SHO Vs without being an SHO (that is directly after plab & FY2)? 2. What is the probability that an Indian mbbs graduate can get an SHO post & get a good opinion from your seniors there (In UK) so that you can get a surgical residency (in UK)? 3. Is the PLAB route better or MRCS route (after MS in India)better if you are planning to work In India after studying in UK?
1. You don't necessarily need to work in SHO posts to apply for core surgical training. If you can get all the required competencies signed off for your application during FY2, then you might get into training. 2. Surgical residency is competitive but possible to get into if you plan your CV accordingly. Its not your nationality but your portfolio+interview scores that determines your success. 3.If you want to train as a surgeon in UK, PLAB is the preferred option. remember you cannot work as a surgeon for more than 18months to apply for core surgery training. So any form of post graduate training like MS/DNB disqualifies you for CST application.

( i hope you make a video dedicated to CV and portfolio)
th-cam.com/video/CduP10wPAOo/w-d-xo.html
Medicine is an easier option as compared to surgery.

He is working as a non trainee registrar in urology.

You will need MRCS exam for that
Hello sir , first of all the video was very informative, so thankyou sir
And can you please tell me that after MS in India and completing MRCS , can we get paid fellowships in minimal access surgery or urology directly in UK and is it recognized in India when we come back
Fellowships are not available in UK like in USA and they are not recognised as formal training. Most fellow posts are non training posts which might offer some specialist experience.so you might get jobs in urology, minimal access surgery but they will not be recognised in India or UK as training.
@@SumanPaulDoc
You can get paid fellow jobs. These are non training jobs so no recognition in India except just years of experience
Sir, I jus finished my MS general surgery and got rank in SS probably will take uro.. Will it be possible to prepare and give MRCS exam during my residency?
That's how most PGT/PDTs prepare for the exam.So I guess, yes
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏👏 I have been preparing for past 9 years but never able to crack anything
lets say- i did ms surgery in india, now i did mrcs 1,2 and move to uk.

Hello sir, I am a MS general surgery resident in India, entering the final year of my residency. I am inquisitive about this MRCS route and settling outside India post MS, what are the opportunities/route to settle/pursue super speciality training in countries that are in commonwealth, other than the UK
You can apply for jobs in Australia, NZ,Canada after passing respective registration exams. Chances of entering further training are almost negligible.
Hello Suman,
I am a non acd junior resident and wants to persue ENT.
MTI routes sounds quite appealing. Is it a good idea to move to UK with MTI instead of going via PLAB.
Kindly guide on it.

MTI is a good option bypassing PLAB. I used the same route to come to the UK.But you need MS/DNB ENT for MTI applications

Sir if someone has been done with DNB general surgery and a fellowship in HPB surgery and completed both MRCS Part A and B and he wanted a fellowship in HPB and LT in UK for 1 year then whats the path?

And if i do fellowship from UK after MRCS like the doctor in the video has done will it increase my chance and fasten the process of becoming a consultant in UK? Thanks in advance
You can go for FRCS but passing the exam will not make you a consultant. You can choose to apply for CESR while working in UK as a registrar.if successful, this can make you a consultant.
