Just an idea but I wonder what it would be like to add an overhead camera that gives you a closer look from a POV perspective. It might help with some close-ups when the other cameras can’t quite get a proper angle from behind. Just a thought!
Nobody seems to talk about reliability anymore….the number of return units and repairs. For me I need to know that that if I spend this much on a machine I’m not having to send it back to the repair shop every 5 minutes, So how reliable are typeset machines, how much of them commercial high-end components are incorporated to make the machine bullet-proof ( at least from a consumer perspective) ?
If the producer ever reads this, some humble production feedback: use the second cam for a meaningfully different perspective, rather than a slightly-to-the-left alt where the host's back still blocks everything they're doing. Up close, let's see those hands, that coffee. Main shot is way too wide, the machines are maybe 5% of the shot, that flat wall wall and the bottom of the counter and all those cups are just not important. Shoot the intro, then get both cameras into the action. Movement. Framing. Life!
I have some Lion compared with Korean plastic coffee maker on my channel. With proper blind test) But here you really need to just watch both reviews of The Machines
Another thing that annoys me is when he says that hes not going to use one of the features about the steamer because he wants to make it fair but that doesn't make sense because if these 2 machines are around the same price point and I'm only assuming thassuming that then he should show off the extra feature that the other 1 has right? But I also watched another video from this channel and the same thing happened so it's psyche it's like make up your mind right I'm talking about them
Spot on. Comparisons like these are useless, unfortunately. Politely explaining that these are good quality machines. We all knew that much before these 18 minutes - yet these are very different machines, but little transpires about the relevant (or irrelevant ) differences. 10 years ago these would have probably been fine, but with things like Lelit Bianca and Decent "profiling" ever the horizon, a little more substance wouldn't have been wasted.
Correct me if I`m wrong. But the Prima has no T3 technology built in. It`s called NEO. They used new insulation materials, smaller boilers and heating elements in the group head. And that is why you don`t need a programmable on off setting. The machine is ready for espresso in about 10 minutes. And due to this technology the prima needs almost half the amount of energy compared to the Linea mini. This may be taken into account when you have to decide between these two machines.
Hi there! It is a different system than the T3 system, but still utilizes an actively heated group. I found that the machine needed a long purge if it sat for a while. Otherwise water coming from the brew group would "crackle", reminiscent of a heat exchanger machine. Combined with the small water tank and drip tray, I found myself refilling the water tank and emptying the reservoir frequently.
@@johnholmquist9277 alright please explain my knowledge is limited when it comes to power. My belief was wattage=voltsxamps So how can it be 2800 but not use it? Is 2800 referring to starting watts only?

Very inconclusive, if you can say this “comparison” video! Poor details, for 18:30 min shooting, bad camera angles. It looks like “let's do it coz we have to do it”. I definitely expect much better videos in future from your great team.

Great comparison I think Linea Mini is for me seeing each machine side by side since I have small kitchen. Mini has more analog feel and start timer plus it looks amazing and it’s slightly more compact with bigger reservoir
For most people it will come down to the workflow and aestetics, as they differ greatly in these two machines. LM comes in an older, traditional and slightly outdated design, an acquired taste for many, while VA Prima has that slightly more contempirary look and shape. LM has however been on the market for some time now, while VA Prima is a 2yr old newcomer, riddled with issues and problems from the day dot, which hopefuly have been all addressed and fixed by now. At this level they better both perform great. I would as soon have the grinder first and foremost. That said I think the Linea Mini machine is just sexy.
Have had a plumbed in 220 volt La Spaziale S1 for many years. Have compared shots from S1 and Linea Mini at coffee trade shows. If I were offered a free Linea Mini in exchange for the S1 I'd say no thank you. Would lose programmable volumetric dosing (can always stop manually) and would only decrease efficiency. IMO the only conceivable upgrade would be to a profiling capable machine but as of yet do not have the inclination to go down that road.
I had an S1 for a decade and I never had better coffee anywhere. Recently sold it and got a Decent for the profiling, which is fun, but I'd be lying if I said my coffee is now as good as it used to be with the S1, which took a lot less effort every morning.
man you made a mess. lol. the workflow is not relevant to the machine comparison but you can at least show better and smoother workflow like a pro that does coffee for a living.
Beautiful machinery. I prefer the La Marzocco gs3 model. I like the manual aspect of the machine. But either one of these will produce great coffee. These are the high end super cars of home expresso.
To strip things away, espresso machines are just machines which help to push hot, pressurized water through the coffee puck. I'd say put most of your budget into a good grinder
I think, when you are at the level of one of this machines you are not only looking for good espresso, you are looking for an especific profile and user experience. Personally, I prefer the digital experience of the E1 Prima than the mechanical of the Mini.
The water tank location on the La Marzoccos (Mini + GS3) kills me every time. E1 Prima does it right. Also, he is downplaying how "easy" it is to remove the drip tray on the Mini.
The LM drip tray is actually easy to remove and empty. Also the tray itself doesn't cause a mess like it does on the E1. Also I don't see how having to remove cups to access the water tank is considered an advantage. The LM gives you way more flexibility when it comes to positioning the machine. And it doesn't suffer from bugs and temperature inconsistencies plus better service and support in most countries.
