For her being 15 in 1983 I can say, that it goes for me as well, turning 52 in 2020. Her smile reassures everybody, that there's good people on Planet Earth. I wish her the best life has to offer.

This song was always powerful for me, in the sense that represented both my inner unrest and the fascinating pop music and rythm of the time. So addictive and cool!! The girl was incredibly cool!

They were in those white & yellow/orange outfits "Hey You..." had hit the charts. It was great!! She looks stunning ~ I'd wondered how she was doing & now I know!
This is the rap history that needs to be celebrated and remembered. She was confident in my eyes back in the day, hadn't listened to RSC in ages and full circle this was the best early rap song not only because it broke the glass ceiling but because it changed the sound from all male, to include female singers in the months after. Im 52 now and i was 11 years of age in 1983 but man i can never, ever forget those amazing years of first listening to electro and hip hop. I used to miss school to spend my days alone looking in record shops wishing i could buy but i was too young to afford. I remember looking manytimes at how very beautiful baby love was on the rock steady records time and time again. She was so lovely!! Early 1983 until 1988.... What’s great video. I lived in London in 1983 and I was 10 years old when this was a hit. I loved this record so much that me and my friends all began break dancing, rapping and practicing graffiti - mostly on paper using markers to develop our style. Funny thing is that years later I went on to be in a number of rock bands and all songs were created by a process of jamming, the musicians would play and I would freestyle lyrics on the spot. All of the band members could never understand how I became so good at making up entire songs on the spot... but it all started from rapping to old school hip hop - Rock Steady Crew / Fat Boys / Grandmaster Flash / etc. Today I still record and make music videos from my home studio. I’m really glad to have see Baby Girl (I’ve used that term in loads of my lyrics) is doing so well today. She was always a great symbolic figure for this of us who loved early hip hop.
Glad to see she has done well. My friends were the NYC Breakers aka Floor masters and only a few grew up to do well. Early on one died from a motorcycle crash after they all bought super bikes with Beat Street money.

I were 16 in Denmark when i heard this around 1983 and it were groundbreaking. First female lead in a rap hit. No drug eyes, no hustle, no boobs in your face, simply catching rap and melody. If you put that one for middle aged people in Denmark everyone remembers. It topped the chart all over Europe and were a safe way to get people to the dance floor for years. Now show THIS to your kids!
My mother was from the bronx and i see all the personality that nyc had back in the 80s. She moved my brother to jersey hoping to give him a life in a better environment but i look at this and cant help but think we got shortchanged abit. She was confident in my eyes back in the day, hadn't listened to RSC in ages and full circle this was the best early rap song not only because it broke the glass ceiling but because it changed the sound from all male, to include female singers in the months after. Im 52 now and i was 11 years of age in 1983 but man i can never, ever forget those amazing years of first listening to electro and hip hop. I used to miss school to spend my days alone looking in record shops wishing i could buy but i was too young to afford. I remember looking manytimes at how very beautiful baby love was on the rock steady records time and time again. She was so lovely!! Early 1983 until 1988.... Those days were totally and utterly the best sunny days and nights of my life.. Hip hop changed but those years i can never forget. Im from england but WOW what a experience!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

What’s great video. I lived in London in 1983 and I was 10 years old when this was a hit. I loved this record so much that me and my friends all began break dancing, rapping and practicing graffiti - mostly on paper using markers to develop our style. Funny thing is that years later I went on to be in a number of rock bands and all songs were created by a process of jamming, the musicians would play and I would freestyle lyrics on the spot. All of the band members could never understand how I became so good at making up entire songs on the spot... but it all started from rapping to old school hip hop - Rock Steady Crew / Fat Boys / Grandmaster Flash / etc. Today I still record and make music videos from my home studio. I’m really glad to have see Baby Girl (I’ve used that term in loads of my lyrics) is doing so well today. She was always a great symbolic figure for this of us who loved early hip hop.
Glad to see she has done well. My friends were the NYC Breakers aka Floor masters and only a few grew up to do well. Early on one died from a motorcycle crash after they all bought super bikes with Beat Street money.

I were 16 in Denmark when i heard this around 1983 and it were groundbreaking. First female lead in a rap hit. No drug eyes, no hustle, no boobs in your face, simply catching rap and melody. If you put that one for middle aged people in Denmark everyone remembers. It topped the chart all over Europe and were a safe way to get people to the dance floor for years. She moved my brother to jersey hoping to give him a life in a better environment but i look at this and cant help but think we got shortchanged abit. Sure the bronx was dangerous as shit and mostly poor but i see that in situations like that things like grafitti breakin and hip hop get created. What a time to be alive man
