    Mid 90s We worked on a near new NSX that had been slid into a curb with the rear wheel. Damage looked very much like the damage this car sustained. After looking over the damaged suspension, we started looking at door gaps and chips. Turned out he whole car was bent, and needed to be totally disassembled, put on a special JiG to straighten which at the time were only 2 such JIGS in the United States, then repainted and reassembled. Total bill was well over $40.000!!

      You can pull any car on a standard frame machine. All you need is the measurements that are in the book or computer. Or you can measure hole to hole on a duplicate vehicle which would be difficult here obviously

      @@BrandonDKirkwood not on an all aluminium frame, you have to use a special machine. Not nowadays but back in the 90's an all aluminium frame was so new that frame machines for them were rare, now any machine can do it.

    I owned a first-gen NSX for nine years. One thing that I did NOT like about it was that parts were not just expensive, but Ferrari-level expensive. Possibly Ferrari parts were LESS expensive than NSX parts. There were just a very few Acura Legend parts that could be substituted for NSX parts (AC compressor was one).

    I saw the title and was thinking of the craigslist salvage seemingly for no reason. This one sounds like he's right a repair that is such a potential shot in the dark. Unlike this they will list very confusingly no physical damage repaired or not nor drivetrain issues perfect running. Yet unfortunately they "lost" the title and rather than get a reprint they sell a car for parts. The best example I saw was 1200.00 and very low mileage when it should go for 20000-25000. Obviously stolen as 1 part out of just one of these engine, trans or even just seats would get far more money alone but take too long where they may get caught.

    I find this all fascinating. If salvage title cars that are then turned into a rebuilt title are difficult to get financed by a bank, typically, you are either gonna hope for the handful of people that can pay cash. Sam, I'd be interested to hear your experience on this part of the rebuilding process and how your previous buyers of your rebuilt cars have managed. Did they all pay cash, and if not, what did it take to get them to convince a bank to loan them money on the car.

      Very good and popular question Rob, I will try to go through it in an upcoming video.

  • @dedalliance1
    @dedalliance1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I have a question, I bought a new 2018 Silverado 2500 HD crew cab 6.0L 4.10 rear end 6.6' bed Work Truck model with the only upgrades being towing mirrors, engine block heater, and all season or all terrain tires I can't remember with full size spare.
    MSRP was just over 43,000 on it. Invoice was 39,900. I paid $35,500 out the door no taxes registered in Montana.
    So to the main point, I was driving up the California coast and went to Blues Beach outside of Fort Bragg CA. And it's a legal drive on beach so I drove on it and got stuck, it was a Saturday night around 8 PM, so long story short no tow truck company wanted to save me before the tide hit it. So Ieft the truck there until Sunday afternoon around 6 PM to meet a tow truck up there and get it out. Which means high tide hit it twice, once at around midnight and once around noon on Sunday before getting rescued. Now, I don't know exactly how high the water got on the truck because I left it to stay in a hotel. But, upon getting it out I found that nothing in the cab was wet, the padding under the vinyl floor was damp, but that could be due to just it wicking up moisture in the air. So I get it out, spent 60 dollars at a self wash that night spraying everything off that I could and the next day I had a mechanic shop spray it off and all the fluids checked out and the brakes cleaned and checked. So I drove it from fort brag California up to Washington state, 15 hour straight drive at just under 1,000 miles according to GPS. I drove it in 1 day took 16 hours after stops. The only thing that happened was it through a code for stabilitrac and limited my power and dropped my speedometer and rpm gauges to 0 for a minute or so until it reset itself. But it does do a weird hard shift sometimes and a weird vibration at 35-50 mph at roughly 2k rpm. But the shifting thing is weird because it doesn't happen all the time, sometimes it will go from 0-60 flooring it smooth as can be.
    So basically the question to all of this is, insurance totaled it and valued it at 35.6k replacement value. The buy back was 11.5k for it. The guy at a shop I had it at wants to buy it for 12.5k for his dad. The only visible damages to it is some dents on the drivers side from the waves hitting it.
    So, is the 12.5k a good price or did I get low balled or does it sound pretty fair to both of us?

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, it had 9,300 miles at the time and now has about 10,400 miles. Which are mostly all highway.

    With the lackluster sales of the new nsx and slightly used ones going for 130's .There's no point in purchasing this one for anything over 75k. Samcrac just destroyed any chance of an easy sale for this guy.

    Coparts requires a broker. Brokers cost around $300. No different than getting a license. Thanks for sharing the website. But it's much more than what you bid in the auction

    Sam there was a black acura nsx 1991 223,000 miles that sold from houston, texas co part a flooded car looked mint i know that if u try to start a flooded car u bend the pistons by sucking in water into the engine but if ur smart and dont start it all u have to do is pull the spsrk plugs out start the car and the engine will spit all the water out of the holes and ur fine that's my dream car i only just saw it from discovering co part from ur channel i would have just had the car towed to scotty kilmer houston mechanic to sort out Can u possibly find out how much it sold for ? Im gonna cry i know - probably like $10,000 cuz of the high miles/flooding Thanks

    I have a feeling that the person who purchased the NSX off of the insurance company bought it to repair it & make profit. He underestimated the market thinking the NSX’s would hold their value and turned down good offers. Since NSX’s aren’t selling so good and the prices have dropped he has to take less than expected. This could be a good buy for the right price

    The NSX has a mid-engine drivetrain so a damage like that to the rear wheel could possibly have a damaged motor.

  • @SetitesTechAdventures
    @SetitesTechAdventures 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did the NSX go from 1600 to 2100 miles if it has a salvage title still? Wouldn't that mean a lot of illegal driving? Could they have towed it to a track and legally did some laps?
