I simply do not understand how the world sees Russia as such a powerful entity, when their GDP is 1/2 that of the state of California.

Because they are projecting their weak yet toxic power around the world. And get little pushback from the western allies. They also have a vast nuclear arsenal, which they use to threaten the world into self-deterrence. They are a threat too- and their nihilistic, aggressive values are a threat.

As McCain said...its a gas station with nukes. But its BECAUSE the world sees them that why is why Putin wants USSR back.

I am proudly one of your first 200 subscribers and the quality of such a new and small channel was amazing even then. Now, Silicon Curtain is so much more than the views of any individual video, it has become a library of the war, a resource for the english speaking world to understand the Ukrainian war of independence and the struggle for life, freedom, culture and identity after colonial subjugation.
    Your channel is a treasure.

Not exactly. Problem was (and same is true with China) that West did believed that Russia is afraid of them and did see mutual dependency as way to ensure peace. Unfortunately what we did find out is that Kremlin is brain dead and only did see European dependency as tool of war, while not seeing own dependency. Anyway, because of that Europe could not pull handbrake, without derailing itself. And so needed delay blow, until dependency is broken. Still, the frog boiling was alternative approach what did work. With West taking actions, what would hurt Russia later. When dependency would be solved.

      Dear AB-ko,
I see that you seem to be greatly outnumbered by those people who love learning from Konstanin and do support his viewpoints. Perhaps it would be wise to think that you may be the problem rather than Konstanin. As to facts, he has a great deal if you had ears enough to hear them and yes, Konstanin does pause to read way too much, but we realize that he has lot of data to analyze as it comes and he reads our responses. It makes people think that perhaps you complain too much and that perhaps you are receiving orders from unfriendly sources. I hope you can learn to be kind and respectful of people who differ from your viewpoints. Shabbat Shalom.

Thank you, Jonathan and Konstantin, for another interesting conversation. I agree with Konstantin that Silicon Curtain is excellent and with Jonathan that quality is the right way. Thank you, Jonathan, for not bowing down to the Mighty Algorithm. I am from Austria and have written to my representatives and OMV (as well as Raiffeisen) ever since the full-scale invasion. Finally, the broken gaZZprom contract "provided the chance" to get out of the bloody contract that should have been terminated immediately. Vienna has been the raZZan spy hot spot ever since WW II; as everywhere else where the USSR had their teeth into, they never left after "liberation". Being a "losing country" of WW II, we never managed to get out of their influence after they robbed the country blind. What we have seen in Donbas and see now in Mariupol and other cities, also happened in Austria over a 10 year period. All (especially industry) in the Soviet-occupied area was dismantled and shipped to the USSR, while the other victorious countries (France, UK, USA) responsible for the three allied-governed areas rebuilt Austria. I know exactly what would happen, if "negotiations" and "deals" leave the now occupied Ukrainian territories under the Evil Empire's rule. The only sentence that I want to hear from our "leaders" is: "GTF out of Ukraine." No negotiations with errorists!
🇺🇦 Перемоги та миру всім українцям! 🇺🇦

Great work Konstantin keep it up. I enjoy listening to unbiased and honest news/information. Konstantin is an example that there are good and fantastic Russians and we should not judge the Russian people by the stupid decisions of their government. Still, the Russian people should understand that Russia the country belongs to the Russian people and not to Putin.

wether people believe Russia is in difficulty or not, the amount of casualties it is suffering, and the collapsing Ruble, will subject Russia to a massive downgrade in the not very far future! That is a fact, like it or not!

Thanks a lot for all the brilliant efforts this channel has provided to help inform and analyze the Russian/Ukraine conflict in a professional way since the full scale invasion. You have been just brilliant in putting bright light on the “technical” aspects of this conflict, such as the historical, political, warfare, economic, demographic, media/propaganda etc. sides of it. However, what I would like to see more of in this channel are the psychological, moral and ethical sides of the conflict. The fact that Putin personally granted al-Assad & Co. asylum on HUMANITARIAN grounds recently tells a lot in that respect, doesn’t it? Keep up the excellent work!👍

Can't imagine Putin being happy about what's happening in Russia, especially with the plane crashes, the whole world seeing the attacks on Finland and the Baltic States communication cables, the sinking of so many ships, and the scandal of burying the oil spill pollution rather than cleaning it up. Leaving the pollution so close to water under the beach sand makes me cry for all the living creatures that will eventually be sickened. Only Russia would allow that to happen. Why do the Russian people stand for that kind of government? They deserve better people in their government and stronger correction actions against the corruption that has soured everything. Shameful.

I think the best solution for Ukraine Russia is that Ukraine is permitted to join NATO immediately. However, built into the agreement should be the overt declaration that NATO is only defensive with the explicit guarantee that NATO will not be permitted to undertake any active action or invasion of Russia.
