- NOW, before I start I would like to remind EVERYONE that these bikes SHOUKD NOT and CANNOT be ridden on MTB Trail Networks, all this does is ruin trails and makes it difficult for the good ones that do right by the laws.
ALL trail/off road in this edit was done on my neighbours property with the exclusion of my local dirt jumps, I have lived and ridden these since they were built and treat them as my own, clearly no damage was done however I did sweep them afterwards. ALWAYS respect the terrain and the trails.
Today is going to be thee most Off Tangent Video ive ever done on this channel, when I was asked if id like to borrow a brand new STREET REGISTERED Sur-Ron All Electric Dirt Bike I would have been a fool to say no, so I said yes.
I am no expert in any way at all so all info given was based on a first ride impression.
This is a full street legal Electric Moto, the L1e is the road registered version of the super popular Light Bee X which is one of the better selling all off road bikes in the line up.
I understand this edit will not be for everyone that follows but to me anything that involves 2 wheels and handlebars is always a solid part part of what I do.
I hope you guys all enjoy this one, it was difficult to film and review as I know nothing about this discipline, this is a good thing in any ways because you are getting a true, genuine and honest review that doesn’t go deep into confusing or over technical specs, just straight to the point basics are covered here.

Hey Christoph, thanks my man. Yes the bike was a tad small but Ive raced BMX My whole life so i like the smaller bike, when it comes to a powered version It would have been nice to be a bit bigger but it wasn’t an issue on the roads at all..
Totally enjoyed this! These bikes are great. I ride one often on a clients property . He has autism and moto noise scares him. . We go check cattle on them and because it’s so quiet we can communicate and it doesn’t scare him. These things haul arse too. Really good review . They def have a future

Hey Darren, sorry buddy I missed seeing this, you are correct it really handled the terrain beautifully. Especially fir a big guy like myself but the suspension did it’s job better than expected.

I’m just about to turn 13 and I really want one, but I need to be 16 to drive one, so I’m now saving up for it so I can buy one on my 16 bday

My wife and I hiked ALL the sanctioned trails at Bryce Canyon, that was a killer, as well as a few known trails through Zion and more. My dream is to do full day hikes up around the Oregon region..

great review. Im also in Australia and 110kg's im currently looking at this just to get to work and possibly use it as a pit bike. thank you for the review much appreciated. how is the suspension when jumping?
You won’t have any issues on the road as far as speed/acceleration Vs your weight.
The owner of this one I Demo’d weighs 75kilo so I didn’t have the suspension set up correctly fir me yet to my surprise it still held up and did the job nicely. I could have set it to my weight and given it sone serious off road abuse without a thought.

Definitely can see a market for these bikes , but for myself I'd say No. I still like to hear a petrol powered engine over an electric.

Yeah I love my YZ250 but I have to admit that I got to ride the Sur Ron more in a week than I’ve ridden my YZ in a year, and the neighbors didn’t even hear me. 😬

Good video. Just wondering how you unlocked the speed limiter. Is there a factory hack that you can do without cutting the green wire?
That I can’t answer sorry, the bike was on loan and already done, I didn’t ask questions but I believe that is what’s done, it’s manufactured this way intentionally from what I understand.

Not the best looking thing but shit, you looked like you had a lot of fun. These bikes are deffinitely the way of the future. After living in surfers for a month the good old Harleys are nothing but a noise pollution.

Can you cut the green wire on this bike to give it a bit more speed? Like the surron light bee X?
Yes you can, and it is legal to do so on this, out of the box the max speed is 50kmh which means you do not need a motorbike licence, just a car license but when you cut the wire the max speed is 70kmh and you need a Car drivers licence..

At 110kilo I’m a wee bit too big for it but it still held its own and rode really well.

My body height was 179cm, is this bike suitable for taller person?
That depends on what you are expecting from this bike.
I’m 181cm and 110kilo and it was just fine for standard street and dirt riding but If your looking at wanting to throw this around on the dirt although fine it will be a little on the smaller side.
Good review but hope we don’t start seeing people on them on the MTB trails
I’ve already clashed with 2 guys on similar ones on my local trails. This was a other reason I wanted to do this video to remind everyone that there is a place fir these and it’s not on our trails.
Can you remove the speed limiter?
Yes I mentioned in the video it does 50kmh out of the box designed for street riding with no Moto license. When you disconnect the wire it does 70kmh but you need a Moto license at that speed on the road.
Anything outside this I’m not aware of.

Isnt the l1e limited to 45 kph? How are you going 70?
Limited to 50kmh out of the box and is the max speed by law if you only have a drivers licence, you can simply disconnect a plug under the seat which then allows “Legally” to do 70kmh but you must gave a motorcycle licence to ride it at this speed. The plug is not a chip or an illegal alteration, it is actually designed for 70kmh and the plug is a limiter.
