So I wonder are the teddy bears representations of other kids at the orphanage? Like the npcs? I’m guessing maddie’s parents died in a car crash or something, bc it said the truck gives bad memories. Maybe later she got sent to the orphanage, but all the kids were treated badly, beaten, and a bunch of weird crap went down. The janitor even said he witnessed kids being abused and wanted the owner guy to rot in hell or smnth, Eventually Maddie can’t bear to live a horrific nightmarish existence anymore and she commits suicide. I like how the game portrays the horrors of her reality in the form of like toys because it’s easier for Maddie to handle it like that. And Jack, Jack seems to also want to kill himself but has decided against it. Although he doesn’t seem adamant to stop Maddie. I feel like some of the teddies were actually kids, maybe other teddies, like the enemy ones, were bullies or something.
in the last end, she had second thoughts before jumping (she mentions the ground being really far down) and iirc, she seems more scared in the falling art in the credits than in the ending where she died, so i think in that last ending she failed to commit suicide (by subconsciously trying to protect her head or something) and instead woke up in hospital, moments before the abusive orphanage caretaker showed up for a hospital visit.
Soooo, did anyone notice that while the lore suggests an abusive orphanage that brings her to suicide, The first costume reads something along the lines of: « child missing call Xxx »
One of the memories shows a truck or van crashing into something. I think her parents died so she got sent to an orphanage. I don't think she was abducted.
It seems possible that she was abducted, either from her parents, or from a legitimate orphanage to one that quite likely was a front for some sort of abuse ring.
Hi, Marmalade here, artist and writer for the game. Thank you for the awesome playthrough and for the critiques! The other developer and I really enjoyed it!
Hey I just want to say that this game was actually made by one of my friends! It was for a project with school and he even had sent me the demo...when it was just something small and wasn't finished. I think it's really cool that you are actually playing it! (The friend that I am talking about is Marmalade)
It should. Probably be mentioned that in the Bad Ending, there is no epilogue, but in the True Ending, the Epilogue is very meticulously vague. A child of age seven, found dead. Not a girl? Not outside? Not from falling from the very obvious broken window's height? In an orphanage with plenty of children? Jack mentions he may "need to buy you some time," but we never find out his age, even if he seems older than the other kids. Then the Blind Ending comes in showing her waking up after the fall, that she had acknowledged was a long way down this time, in medical triage. The fact that no details exist beside Child Age 7 means there's too much open ended information to say definitively that the girl dies from the fall.
@@nonamepasserbya6658 so you’re thinking a different kid passed away. Police did investigations and sent maddie to an ER with the blind ending. Inside she how has trauma of what happened inside the orphanage
I think the borgeyman is obsess with Maddie because she has her own room called dollhouse and even being chase by Mr borgeyman in the end. and even I think the ending is connected that Maddie is alive and the newspaper is only facet of other victims
I'm pretty sure in that one she indead IS the child that died. The picture is of her, and it states very clearly she is specifically seven years old in the menu. I really do think it is her that died. Especially since the 'opposite' ending, it very clearly shows that she survived. I think it's fair to assume the ONLY vague one, is when she fails to talk to everyone of the npcs, and seems a little hesitant to jump out. The bad ending, she clearly didn't want too, but felt like she had too, and ended up surviving. So... I think it makes too much sense that she managed to succeed in getting to 'paradise' by dying in the true ending. Pinning the death on some 'unknown kid A' just seems more like a reach than to take the obvious connections they give us, and her picture, to conclude she's the one who died... if she hadn't, it'd just be a repeat ending of the bad ending where she should then be waking up in the hospital, and that's pointlessly repetitive.
I would assume that the new ending is Maddie survived the fall after being hospitalized, though her current where abouts are unknown. The orphanage is being or in the process shutting down due to Maddie's testimonies.
It's possible she's been in a coma, and is remembering the moments before she jumped. Jack did say she was awake, but not really. So it's possible that the dead child at the end is Jack, and Maddie jumped herself into a coma.

there's literally a type of shirt that's made to just go over one shoulder... and then a subset for them that include a smaller littler strap on the exposed shoulder just so it doesn't slip, because they've taken the idea and started building on it lol. Also, in THIS case, it's an oversized sweater. Keep in mind, this IS an abusive orphanage, I think she literally just got someone else's old clothes they had laying around and they didn't fit her.
Well, there are a lot of dark meanings behind this game, but it's hidden by the child's perspective (which we are viewing through hence all the cute stuff)

@@Limacinablues Its a horror game, you don't need to be abused to make something containing abuse as a part of the storyline. Also creating this kind of content isn't linear, there could be other stuff happening in dev's life that he chose to channel into that type of genre. I'm a firm believer that, while it is recommended you do extensive research for plot, it is not necessary in creating a good story. Not everything has to be 100% simular to real life.
Hey, I’m not sure if you are currently recording this but the second episode of Tiny Bunny has came out! Like a month ago, hope to see it on your channel any time soon.
I was talking about this before with someone else and this game reminded me of it. Clearly a Janitor in the game witnessed a horrible crime and didn't do anything, saying they are simply a janitor. I hate this mentality, it is what allows evil people to get away with what they're doing. There was recently a documentary on Hugh Hefner and I was disgustedly with it. They had a parade of witnesses who all talk about seeing and hearing horrible things and no one doing or saying anything about it. What about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock? People applauded for that asshole when he should have been booed. Maybe I am ignorant or naive, but I will stand up for injustices when I see them, I always have and always will. Sometimes that may contribute to my own determent, but at least I can go to sleep knowing I don't enable that kind of awful behavior. A decade ago I witnessed a shift supervisor scream a woman to tears on the production floor in front of her peers, I went HR and told them if they didn't do anything about it, I would be contacting corporate. Asshole wasn't fired but he was suspended from work without pay for six weeks. Sometimes you don't always win, but it's important you try.
I'm only just starting now but my God, that artstyle is right up my alley. Also hearing Manly narrate at the beginning feels like I'm being read a bedtime story by the Level 9999 hero himself
I'm surprised Manly didn't see the "Missing Child if found contact-" below the picture when you pause while having the Party outfit on. Timestamp: 11:02 E2: Scrolling through comments, I seem to be the first one to mention this detail.
@@the_jingo I don't know. The picture looks to be from a news article, of as the text below the photo implies, at least a poster. When Manly gets the Fancy Clothes, he mentioned that "It might be the clothes Maddie wore before all this happened" or something similar to that, meaning that the skins may have a bigger role to the story. If we were to go by events, then I it might be this for the skins as well as a bit of context clues: Fancy Clothes -> Halloween costume (However it may also serve no story telling purpose and just be that, a skin.) -> Party Dress -> Broken Maddie -> Starting Assuming this is the correct and the Fancy Clothes are from before Maddie was an orphan and that the Halloween Costume fits into the hidden story of how Maddie actually was put in an orphanage somehow, and the outfits will be like this (Skin Name) what I'm thinking it implies, however it does have ALOT of implications and this is purely a simple theory. ( Fancy Clothes) Maddie lived a normal life, nothing too special, she was happy with her parents. (Halloween Costume) Halloween came around, all went well during trick-or-treating, until someone caused chaos by murdering the father that was watching over Maddie while the Mother stayed home, and since the criminal were masked, nobody knows what they looked like apart from the costume that was worn, even then, it would've been impossible to track them apart from if they left the murder weapon (assumably a knife) at the scene. (Party Dress) The picture used is actually the last regular photo taken of Maddie which was a bit before Halloween and was used for the poster/news article to raise awareness of Maddie's disappearence. (Broken Maddie) One of the bad Endings lets us see Maddie wake up in a hospital which is hinted with the oxygen mask and hospital gown she had on. So, the Broken Girl skin, according to the self-made timeline, might be that days later, a search party sent out found Maddie wounded and unconscious, and she had to be transported to the hospital. (Starting) During Maddie's disappearence, her mother gave into grief as she thought the worst may have happened after not having word about finding her daughter for days, maybe weeks... So, after Maddie was discharged from the hospital, we was taken to Mr. Bogeman's orphanage which the game takes place in. And from there on, the events that conspire after are entirely based on the player's choices, and the NPCs and Monsters are just there to act as Maddie's form of Escapism at first, but as she ascends towards the "Doorway to Paradise" she starts doubting herself more and more, and that she can't do it, which manifest more and more awful monsters, but once the caretaker finds Maddie in the attic and attempts to talk to her, Maddie runs away and the caretaker gives chase, then Maddie jumps from the window of the attic and... Well, the ending IS based on the player's input, so her fate is inevitably in the hands of the player. Then again, I do overthink things quite a lot and forget some details, this is all speculation and nothing more then a mere theory of the storyline that happened before the start of the game and how our protagonist ended up there.
@@the_jingo Lol how many times are you going to comment this under other people? Are you alright? If it's not related to her, then why would those words be right on the photograph of her? Use your brain
3. A life best lived alone(she lived when she didn't talk to anyone) 2. Little Maddie Dear(When she talked to everyone but the ending showed no cut seance/sorry if this is spelled wrong\) 1. Sad but true(She talked to everyone but this ending showed a news report of her death) Ending 2 is when she jumped out the window and the reason why there was no cut seance because she balcked out when she hit the ground Ending 3 continued the story by showing the cut seance of when she was in the hospital(the reason why this ending is contained by talking to no one is because it was a repeat of what happened if Maddie talked she would probably be confused or not even remember doing this befor and at the end her toy wroke her up to try to save her for Mr. Watever his name was/I forgot\) Ending 3 continued the story once agian of her strange death(When she was in the hospital people started asking questions so when Maddie returned to the orphanage Mr. Whatever his name was beat her to death and the reason why it was in the bathtub so he could hide it but someone found it and people now rondered about her death and asked to many questions) After all of this Maddie is a ghost stuck in a repeat of what happened that expains broken girls dialog/Broken girl is the ghost of Maddie\ and the broken and blocked of stuff around the orphanage was because Mr. Whatever his name left without a word and no one wanted the orphanage because of the many kids died thier/Maddie was the first or the third/random numbers\\) This is my opinion about the game and the storyline and the confusion of some of the endings Also if I was to fix the ending 2 would be 1, 3 would be 2, and 1 will be three

I love how that's where everyone's mind IMMEDIATELY goes when we think of pizzerias and horror. And the amount of concern/confusion in Manly's voice was amazing.
I love the references in this game. Also it be cool if there was an ending where the janitor adopts Maddie or something, the game is still awesome anyway.
_Who knew hugs could kill_ And buns are the strongest evil. Kind of dark, but maybe I find reaching paradise thru a window just a tad depressing. And that was the "true" ending. The true horror was that a seven year old already felt there were burdens in life she needed to leave behind. I liked the art and little candies for healing etc but I generally am not a huge fan of maze games.
The costumes are nice, the enemies are a good balance of silly scary and actually creepy, and I'm not surprised there's no real good ending in this tragic tale. The secret ending makes me question how much of this is actually real, though I assume the other ending is the true one.
Fun fact : Snapchat has a cat restaurant game that implies: -Cannibalism -Murder -Depression -Manipulation -Burnout -Child grooming It's really subtule so you might not realise it right away, but i find it nice :D
Remember that game about human traficking or child kidnapping and selling organs and stuff? Where u either shoot the father or u get gut ending? I had a dream with a similar story except some souls of those who attempted to escape tries to help the girl escape. Where the bad ending (but kinda good) is the girl dies and turns into a ghost and hugs the boy's soul that tried to help her and the gud ending where the girl escapes, true ending where the girl also helps the souls be free.
Oh no, this is going to turn into a horror game and the kid is so cute and I’m going to be sad just like every other game you play... why do I watch you? Probably the soul jokes
Ive not finished yet, but I'm guessing the Teddy bears are other children in this "orphanage", just like how the mannequins represent the adults. These kids have clearly been tricked into coming to this place, Maddie has picture that says "missing child", and the Pretty Teddy was lured with a party. The truck brings back bad memories for Maddie, was she kidnapped?
i don't know what it is but this game has a certain feel to it that just makes me happy. there's just something about it that i find really charming. it gives off that sinister feel right off the bat but it's still soft. and the design of the maps, i just love it i can't explain why but there's a certain unreal feel to it. not exactly unreal but it's just heuifgiwh. it's just a lovely combination of things i love.
This is kinda funny... my name is Maddie and when I was little I used to wear an oversized zip up hoodie with floppy sleeves. This is all a bit too familiar for me (monsters included, bullies suck lmaooo). The coincidences are real. 😂
So, I’m the end, when she jumps out the window. Other children who have went through the journey but may of come back call that window the door to paradise, because this orphanage could be a very bad one with abusers, so death in this case would be the door to paradise. As how it says that the owner is Mr. Borgeman, we can see that young children could read bogey man. So as she was going to the “door to paradise” he found her and started chasing her, and she soon jumped out the window to her demise. That’s why he will not give any statements on the matter, because he was the cause of her death. And he is seen as a huge threat because he could be the worst abuser doing very horrible things to kids. Maybe even the cause of those teddy bears (maybe children) being attached. That may be why he is seen as a huge scary threat.

there's literally a type of shirt that's made to just go over one shoulder... and then a subset for them that include a smaller littler strap on the exposed shoulder just so it doesn't slip, because they've taken the idea and started building on it lol.
Also, in THIS case, it's an oversized sweater.
Keep in mind, this IS an abusive orphanage, I think she literally just got someone else's old clothes they had laying around and they didn't fit her.
The barrel roll reference is cute
What a cute looking game I’m sure there are no evil monsters or any twists that may make one scared. Enjoy this harmless game uwu
Well, there are a lot of dark meanings behind this game, but it's hidden by the child's perspective (which we are viewing through hence all the cute stuff)
Everybody gangsta until Teddy Bear starts smoking.
yeah especially when you know that teddy bears are basically the number one source of death by crushing right up there with random japanese high school girls

@@Haaton-of-the-Basement my comment is actually an satire for game developers who most of tend to milk trauma victims’s painful past to make more money/adding more shock value and stock drama than trying to address that such problem must be acknowledged more people and exist in real life. @@Haaton-of-the-Basement What if the Indie Game Developer was the one abusing the abuse victim?
Get Checkmated
@@Limacinablues Its a horror game, you don't need to be abused to make something containing abuse as a part of the storyline. Also creating this kind of content isn't linear, there could be other stuff happening in dev's life that he chose to channel into that type of genre. I'm a firm believer that, while it is recommended you do extensive research for plot, it is not necessary in creating a good story. Not everything has to be 100% simular to real life.
@@littlebop4862 yeah but people must do an research of what actually trauma is.

Hey, I’m not sure if you are currently recording this but the second episode of Tiny Bunny has came out! Like a month ago, hope to see it on your channel any time soon.
This needs more likes so Manly can see this
Wow, I had no idea! I'd love to see more of that one from Manly. ^^
Timestamp: 11:02
E2: Scrolling through comments, I seem to be the first one to mention this detail.
Oh i noticed that too, was wondering what the other words were after ‘Missing child’
Not everything have to related to the protagonist
@@the_jingo I don't know. The picture looks to be from a news article, of as the text below the photo implies, at least a poster.
When Manly gets the Fancy Clothes, he mentioned that "It might be the clothes Maddie wore before all this happened" or something similar to that, meaning that the skins may have a bigger role to the story.
If we were to go by events, then I it might be this for the skins as well as a bit of context clues:
Fancy Clothes -> Halloween costume (However it may also serve no story telling purpose and just be that, a skin.) -> Party Dress -> Broken Maddie -> Starting
Assuming this is the correct and the Fancy Clothes are from before Maddie was an orphan and that the Halloween Costume fits into the hidden story of how Maddie actually was put in an orphanage somehow, and the outfits will be like this (Skin Name) what I'm thinking it implies, however it does have ALOT of implications and this is purely a simple theory.
@@the_jingo It's heavily implied that it's related to the protag.....
@@the_jingo Lol how many times are you going to comment this under other people? Are you alright? If it's not related to her, then why would those words be right on the photograph of her? Use your brain
3. A life best lived alone(she lived when she didn't talk to anyone)
2. Little Maddie Dear(When she talked to everyone but the ending showed no cut seance/sorry if this is spelled wrong\)
1. Sad but true(She talked to everyone but this ending showed a news report of her death)
Ending 2 is when she jumped out the window and the reason why there was no cut seance because she balcked out when she hit the ground Ending 3 continued the story by showing the cut seance of when she was in the hospital(the reason why this ending is contained by talking to no one is because it was a repeat of what happened if Maddie talked she would probably be confused or not even remember doing this befor and at the end her toy wroke her up to try to save her for Mr. Watever his name was/I forgot\) Ending 3 continued the story once agian of her strange death(When she was in the hospital people started asking questions so when Maddie returned to the orphanage Mr. Whatever his name was beat her to death and the reason why it was in the bathtub so he could hide it but someone found it and people now rondered about her death and asked to many questions)
After all of this Maddie is a ghost stuck in a repeat of what happened that expains broken girls dialog/Broken girl is the ghost of Maddie\ and the broken and blocked of stuff around the orphanage was because Mr. Whatever his name left without a word and no one wanted the orphanage because of the many kids died thier/Maddie was the first or the third/random numbers\\)
This is my opinion about the game and the storyline and the confusion of some of the endings
Also if I was to fix the ending 2 would be 1, 3 would be 2, and 1 will be three

Obscure reference, but the sound the pink monsters make sounds just like the crow sound from Chulip. Must be a stock sound or something.
_Who knew hugs could kill_
And buns are the strongest evil.
Well hugs of the breast variety can kill since day 1
Great video manly.
The costumes are nice, the enemies are a good balance of silly scary and actually creepy, and I'm not surprised there's no real good ending in this tragic tale. The secret ending makes me question how much of this is actually real, though I assume the other ending is the true one.
Fun fact :
Snapchat has a cat restaurant game that implies:
-Cannibalism
-Murder
-Depression
-Manipulation
-Burnout
-Child grooming
It's really subtule so you might not realise it right away, but i find it nice :D
Remember that game about human traficking or child kidnapping and selling organs and stuff? Where u either shoot the father or u get gut ending?
I had a dream with a similar story except some souls of those who attempted to escape tries to help the girl escape. Where the bad ending (but kinda good) is the girl dies and turns into a ghost and hugs the boy's soul that tried to help her and the gud ending where the girl escapes, true ending where the girl also helps the souls be free.

the little references on the sides of the newspaper are great. I love this dev's sense of humor
ManlyBadassHero best waifu
i don't know what it is but this game has a certain feel to it that just makes me happy. there's just something about it that i find really charming. it gives off that sinister feel right off the bat but it's still soft. and the design of the maps, i just love it i can't explain why but there's a certain unreal feel to it. not exactly unreal but it's just heuifgiwh. it's just a lovely combination of things i love.
31:06 there sure is an aBUNdance of buns
Freaking hell, that face at the end was pure pain.
