“sir did you eat my parents and randomly adopt me” has to be one of the funniest sentences I’ve ever heard just because of how absurd it is out of context
The Irony is Nevirre being a well educated Doll-faced demon who write a series of fantasy books in another dimension could be a really interesting dude with whom you could exchange words if not for his sense of irony (black humor) and his diet based principally on human flesh.
This specific little girl is "lucky" (had to eat her own parents "gourmet" format and discover that she probably have cancer, what luck) just because Nevirre is really specific on his food quality and care about his own health. However if you could survive outside with Demons that have "less refined tastes" and come back fully cured he will gladly eat you. What a gentleman.
Hell, if you probably just wanted to die from cancer in pleasant company, he's not a bad option at least.
I think in order to escape, you have to use the cure on him since he specifically stated it would do harm to his kind.
@@ythandlename yeah but....then wouldn't she die without the cure? if the cure is like the "one of a kind" rarest thing to retrieve this choice is like the: "I escape from this dimension but die of cancer" or "I survive the cancer that is killing me but The gentleman Demon will eat me" dilemma.
@@maxlove818 I mean if her goal is revenge and driven to it, she wouldn't factor in her own survival and even if she doesn't wound up using the cure on anyone than herself how would she escape knowing someone like Nevirre, his cronies or anyone she might meet wouldn't be interested in endangering her life again? I think it might not be something a child would think about but the thought of being eaten by beings you detest is worse then dying a natural death might be a view she develops later on.
I'm really stretching it but who knows. I've only said she might use the cure on him since he made a point of mentioning it in the first place. It makes no sense to me that he wants her to be cured if there wasn't something in it for himself.
Idk how can a person who has cancer to give to an other person, but again i'm not a human flesh eating demon. So how would i know? I'm a demon with a regular diet. Like the agony of the tormented souls. Jk ;-)

The "Responsibility" and "Indulgence" may be part of a hidden character growth system. Also, the note talking about "the infant pit" the four rabbits and the regret of giving to "something" in the darkness may have been a foreshadowing of the doll room.

Pretty impressive for a demo. The art style for the character portraits really lends to the horror, they have an uncomfortable air to them. It's a dark world and I'm interesting in seeing more.

Creepy alternate world filled with odd artwork and evil dolls, one of whom is blonde and in a green dress... yeah this is giving me major flashbacks to Ib, which honestly is a really good thing in my opinion. Loved Ib, and this looks just as promising.

My understanding of the demo went like this. The family went through a portal to a different dimension. When it seems like the food for them is regulated by people called Realtors. The food happens to be flesh from humans in another world. Because they can't just eat each other clear. The MC family slips into the other dimension, by accident. From what he said when you spoke to him. He seems to be a wealthy and Powerful being. He has his own food whole in his territory. So Realtors can't control how much or what he does with his food.
Somewhere in their Nevier has a granddaughter who is clearly dead or was the doll you destroyed. By the end of all the running around. It turns out you have a disease, which made me think of other food scares like mad cow disease or salmonella. Homie just gives you a toss up of, i won't eat you because you sick. But everyone outside these walls don't know that and some won't care. Stay with him or leave an fight off the crazies. To take a cure that makes you lose your hair and grow old. It may not even work it may just kill you. He says he will not help you once you leave so your basically assed out. My thought is if it regulated how did people slip in if no on is actively using the portals. Why go back to the normal world when you've already eaten your parent. I'm sure there will be multu ending. Seeing how giving into your indulgences. Such as giving the dolls to the tied up bigger doll. Dings you, your personality may change for something suited for the cannibal world than the normal one.
And if you do take the cure... will that guy just eat you?
Yknow I just had a random thought,.. but that cure... sounds like the kids got cancer or something from the description of the “cure” and the fact that the guy won’t eat her... which is good for thought (heh)

I wished for the early monochromatic part would last longer or be integrated to the rest of the game. That Neverending Nightmares vibe was so nostalgic.

So, I really would not mind seeing your telling of it, seeing it was the re-viewing of this vid, that jostled me to check and buy the finished game in the first place.

This game is pretty interesting! I love the subtle flickers in the expressions of the characters' portraits, it makes them very unsettling in the best way possible. Well executed, great job on Zen's part!

Did you know the full game is out now?
Seeing around his mansion, with the things like drawers full of spoons, gave me the vibe of something trying to pass for human and not quite succeeding. I very much liked that vibe. Way more unsettling than the outright blood stains.
The 'tripping over stuff' mechanic was interesting but didn't see much use. I suspect you were intended to trip over the book while running from things. The 'actions affect your personality' mechanic was likewise interesting but didn't come to fruition in this demo, and i guess may play more of a role in the full game.
Reading between the lines, I had the impression we have a silent protagonist who in fact can't speak other than through her rabbit. That wasn't very well explained, and got kind of contradicted when she answered the doll's riddle. At all other times she wrote things down, which was fitting. I liked that you get to enter free text instead of picking multiple choices, which would be too easy. Naming the fish was kind of a weird way to introduce that concept...
I'm rambling a lot but that's because there were so many interesting little hooks in this demo! It stands out from a lot of RPG Maker horror in the way it hints at deeper mechanics.

The Uncanny Valley. Something that looks just enough off to be recognized as foreign or unnatural but not enough off to be see as unrelatable.

I'm strongly reminded of Ib, but creepier and well, with a bigger setting I guess, since it's obvious the protagonist will explore various other places.
I hope I won't be disappointed in it as I was with that train game - it was one of my favorite demos ever, and then the full product... eh.... so lackluster and frustrating...

So much weird lore, especially the Infant Pit part. How does postpartum depression & the killing of babies relate to these cannibals in an alternate dimension? I don’t think continuing the Indulgence was a good thing somehow... I felt sorry for the little dolls who seemed to be happy and hopeful. Feeding them to the big doll, even tho she was pitiful and chained and hungry didn’t seem right. Nor did her reply of ‘Thank you Mommy”.
Idk what is wrong with our MC that makes her unfit for consumption and different than her family.
The whole game was unsettling, from the movement of the eyes, to the twitches, to the sounds - all in a good way. I’ll be interested in the complete game once it is released.

I love the fact that that wierd gentleman had the same feel like Umbrella man from Hello Charllote. At least to me. I know Umbrella man didn't had ill intentions over the MC, but idk they are both unsettling and misterious.
