This stuff is just fantastic ! I can remember when I was learning traditional weapons form in Chinese kung fu I enjoyed them immensely , but didn't understand a full range of application until I had ventured into Kali-silat . Out of the entire youtube I would have to say this guy is definitely in the top 3 as far as being a technician !

The redirecting of the opponent's weapon looks amazing. I bet the old European Martian arts had something similar in mind.

@all in fact , this weapon was commonly use in the indonesia during our resistance against dutch and japan, In WW2. our term is `bambu runcing` if you are in indonesia in our independence month, youll see alot of this `bambu runcing` figures.

also a spear is not just a linear stab weapon, the knife edge can slice and stab, the shaft itself is a blunt weapon. Also stabbing unless it is a kill blow can open up the user to many more counter attacks.

This is awesome!! Interestingly, this system for staff fighting looks really similar to European longsword fighting system, as many of the techniques shown have almost identical ones for longswords!

yeah i notice the same thing. to me its more of a great sword technique due to the staff overall length. Interesting fact that the movement of HEMA and Silat are the same but separated by geography and culture. it seems like any effective technique can be found in different martial arts.

The human body can only move in so many ways so martial arts have similar movements all over the world.

Staffs techniques usually revolve around bashing, and not stabbing, and as a general rule, the shorter the staff, the less stabs techniques there will be

Silat is a kawi word .. Kawi is old Javanese originating from Sanskrit ... silat is the word to describe a way of martial art from the archipelago of Nusantara. Brunei is also part of that archipelago. You should understand that before talking aggressive and embarrassing yourself.
Pendekar tak akan ngomong besar ... itu kan tabiat jagoan preman aja ...
