- We're back in Argentina! If you've been following us for a while, you know that we spend part of the year travelling and creating travel content, part of the year in Canada, and part of the year renovating a property in Argentina. Well, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work because we're back in the Sierras of Cordoba.
The goal this time around is to finally complete the house renovation. If you remember, last year, we started fixing up the oldest home on the property which dates back to the 1940s and we got pretty close to getting it done! This time, we're back to get the job finished and it's starting to look within reach.
This video is a mish-mash of our journey from Canada to Argentina, and our first couple of weeks running errands, buying materials and getting settled. It might feel a little all over the place, but hey, that's exactly what life has been like as we try to get organized here.

Guys. That's quebracho wood. No need to protect it from the rain. However, I would consider myself to consume another kind of wood. Check with the locals. Quebracho's woods are ancient we have to protect them.

You got there when we left. We went to visit family. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing this amazing experience. We are of your dad’s age and we love listening to his complaints because we know exactly how he feels. Every time we go there we keep saying, “ I can’t believe they do this or that” even though we were born there. And we still LOVE going home, after being gone for 40 years. I’m glad you guys are back in Argentina. As you’ll probably have noticed construction materials have gotten a lot more expensive. I bought a toilet six months ago for $100 USD and it’s now being sold for $300. Bricks were 20 cents and are now 1.20 USD. 😬

Back to work in the FALL and WINTER season in Argentina . Hopefully , you'll find some good help on those projects that require them . I believe Audrey's dad was little disappointed in some of the "finished product" which had to be reworked by you guys.

I use that type of wood for my Santa Maria bbq to make the cook Argentine style and taste. I order it from Miami. Great taste with the meat.

It does! It was founded by German settlers, so it has that strong influence in the food, culture and architecture.
How did the local store prices compare to what you might have spend on similar in Canada?
The food prices are lower in Argentina than Canada, especially when it comes to fresh produce. When it comes to tools, the local brands are always going to be more affordable than the foreign brands. As for building materials, some things are cheaper here while others are more expensive. It's just a matter of browsing and adapting based on cost.
@@samuelandaudrey How are the quality of the tools? I've heard there are a lot of less-than-ideal Chinese tools in South America. Hope I'm wrong!
Curious how you fund your travels?
Have you considered asking for volunteers to help with your Cordoba project? A few people might have the skills to help.
Audrey's back in Argentina and so is her charming yellow cap :) it reminds me of the Phrygian cap featured on the Argentinian coat of arms, but that one's red, so we'll have to instill Audrey's yellow cap with different symbolism; let it stand for the yellow sun featured on the flag of Argentina! Looking forward to new videos!

Thanks for the warning. Thankfully, because of the altitude and cooler climate we hardly have any mosquitoes around here. But we've hear it's been quite the ordeal in the cities!
What is the feeling on the streets? Is it looking promising? The new President makes me want to move there and invest in Argentina. Because of him, I think we will make our first visit to Argentina this Fall. We are looking forward to it.

Hi Sam. That’s so funny that you commented on your hair. I’ve been thinking for a while that I wanted to say something. Since you brought it up! Definitely you need a haircut. And maybe a modern shorter style. You are a handsome man and it would compliment your features. One more thing. I don’t want to be too blunt. The beard and mustache really needs to be trimmed.

I used to watch you guys all the time and only recently started watching you again. I really like Sam's hair longerish before or after the trim. I like the hat he was wearing last episode. I remember ehen you guys were on Vancouver Island (with dad) and sam was dressed ok but had an awful baseball hat that didnt go with his whole ensemble. Stay away from baseball hats. They always look awful.
