The whole heights thing about having the urge to jump off? I know exactly what you mean! I have the same feelings, and no, i'm not suicidal either. When i'm up high it's like gravity is saying "come down..come down! " Lol
Dude, I don't have the time to get creative in Fallout 4 anymore, so I'm honestly really glad you can so I can live vicariously through you. This was actually really creative and fun to watch. Also, congrats on the new PC!
starting at 10:50 Davey starts to make subtle hints that he's been kidnapped by a psychopath who kills a cuts people up and he needs help. Listen to it with your eyes closed. You can tell its layered twice... The first is if the serial killer hears what he's saying, it sounds like he has the syndrome where you're in love with your captor. And the layer of subtle hints below that, he's screaming for help. Davey, reply if you need help
My Jake got knocked into the smelter during the fracas. It was my fourth try and the first time I made it to a standoff point and I couldn't be bothered to give it a fifth go so his parents got the "I'm so sorry. There was nothing I could do. Can I keep this sword?"
+norespawns Yeah. It's more of a decoration nowadays. I went and got an Xbox one last year and that's been doing me well. It has a few frustrating bugs sometimes, but I'm happy with it.
I made a huge tower in the Slog, complete with a lift/elevator that my settlers can't use. It was my first time using an elevator in one of my settlements and had no idea that settlers couldn't them, which was a pain in the arse as I then had to build a huge f*cking staircase.
I bought Fallout 4 early this August and as everyone else I wondered on what on earth I should build in my settlements. Luckily I came across your channel and it's really helped me for sure. Awesome videos and you've earned another sub my friend! ✌
Davey, I enjoy hearing you get frustrated with the game, keeps my own building headaches relatable. Don't edit that stuff out too much. Also its just good fun hearing you swear from time to time.
My Finch Farms was finished way before all the DLC so no elevators for me. I walled in the whole ground level and made it defense and farm. Up top on the overpass is living space for each settler plus a nice cozy place for my character. There is a platform hanging under the bridge with all my generators.
Me on height: I basically just get a wave of vertigo. My urge isn't to jump, that's crazy. My urge is to back TF away. And possibly cling to something solid. My last bad height experience in-game was that time I had a beautiful fire-escape-style stairs leading up to both levels of the overpass above Grey Garden. Then I had a brainfart moment stepping back to look at something and fell off.... losing the entire hour of build. At any rate, great build, Davey. (as per usual). I'm very much enjoying these older pre-mods buiilds. And... you had 60 Gigs of RAM back in 2016? Did I hear that right? Just... wow.
I have the same feelings about heights as well. If I'm leaning over the edge on any game like Fallout or GTA my legs suddenly get tingles and twitchy and I'm overcome with a strong feeling to jump.
Missed a ton of videos due to me not having the DLC, just getting back to all your videos. I really cant wait for PS4 to get mods to make building alot easier.
This elevator plan is really great in terms of aesthetics. Great job! Gives me so many ideas to improve my version of this. I guess the only downside is that it probably does raise your build meter quite a lot, if you're not using cheats to go around that. :-(
I've used flat greenhouse roof pieces as floors off my elevator to my mezznine roof greenhouse... lol, doubt we'll see vertigo riddled Davey trying that... aww, poor luv XD
A good way to fix the problem with the warehouse wall snapping is to just let it snap at an odd angle & then just press the rotate button, that usually works for me at least
-Spent 3 days building my proudest settlement at Finch Farm. -Celebrate my success by turning youtube on and seeing what others have done at Finch Farm. -TH-cam spams me with settlements built on the overpass. -Stares at screen wondering why I didn’t even consider trying to get up there.
Congrats on your new "confuser". Once again thanks for thinking outside (and above) the box! I do have a concern about Finch showing "0" defense but then again I would love to see your defensive layout...
I managed to get on both levels on the bridge but God was it a pain in the ass. It's still not perfect but I'm doing some renovations. I'm making it a city where the higher up your home is the more higher class you are, sort of on the line of diamond city. Ground level is farmers, middle level os the market place and top level is for the richer people, but because the NPCs are so static they may not be able to get up to their houses
Can't wait for the Nuka World playthrough. I really want to see a raider give you and Hancock the side-eye and say, "I like Jet as much as the next person, but don't you think you might be overdoing it?" Suggestion for NPCs when recording: assign them all to their own guard posts. They won't move around if they don't have multiples to patrol amongst. ;)
Hey Davey, congrats on your new system. Looking better already! Meaning, the transgression is so much smoother XD Ha, you're talking about your anxiety of heights. Have you played Dying Light? When you climb those huge antenna and 'almost' miss a jump when you're about halfway up, oh man, I feel my bladder cramping together... Great video again, keep up the good work!
I feel ya on the height thing. I recently noticed that when I am building narrow walkways or scaffolding in Fallout and I'm over 3 floors high I start to get a bit more anxious and worried about falling, even though it's a game and I can't personally be hurt. I guess that's why phobias are considered irrational fears. :)
Aw man, now I need to redo my elevator at Finch Farm because in comparison it looks rubbish. I've not finished building on the overpass but have a couple defence posts up there, Jake regularly falls from the overpass but so far he's always got back up (his mother just tends to get stuck on the roof of their cabin), also, if you assign him to security/defence then he actually does work (unlike the farming). I like the "top hat" roof piece too but the barn version rather than the warehouse (but I prefer the barn aesthetic in general).
Literally just did this today. Used the mod Place Anywhere to help with the lineup and only had to use one 4 story and one 3 story elevator to get it done.
It'd be cool if the shacks that you might add to the side of the elevator require you to stop at different levels on the elevator (i.e. instead of going from level 1 straight to level 4 like you usually have to, you make a little walkway to a shack on level 3 or something). That way you can mix the textures while adding housing. I don't know if that's what you meant or if that even made any sense but I hope it helped.
Hi Davey, first of all awesome video :) As someone suggested in the comments, try the glass windows from the greenhouse parts to make a glass elevator, it might help with the monotony! Also (and this is for anyone reading), I've been trying to build up spectacle island and I just don't know what to do with the house. I wanted to stick a mini-vault on top and surround it with walls so that it looked like a fixed house with a very nice inside, since I want this to be my character's end game quality house. I've been unable to pillar glitch everything properly and its starting to annoy me. Does anyone have a way of making it work? Or some better idea for that destroyed house?
Funny story- whenever I go into Sagus Ironworks to do that quest my companions always attack him. I cannot bring Codsworth to Finch Farm ever, because he attacks on sight.
I love this build and Idea I may have to makeup some sort of elevator up there myself to play with that extra space although I themed my finch farm to be more on the poor side so it may be out of place xD. Also congrats on your new pc I hope you like it. Also don't you find building in fallout really frustrating maybe its because I'm used to sims and the building engine in that its like going from a pixel art program to a vector one XD
Video quality is great. Noticeably better than the 720p PS4 recordings. It's not 60fps though. Must have still rendered at 30. Not that it matters since Fallout 4 is locked to 30 on console, it won't look any different recorded and rendered at 60.
That jump for joy at 22:00 is me after building a tiny shack that doesn't look awful. You are incredible Davey! Apologies if you've already gone over this in another video, but do you think you'll be adding any settlement mods now you're on PC? They're not at all needed, shown clearly by your builds, but I've found they don't mess around with any of the glitches (actually they just give you more options) and I would love to see what you could do with infinite new assets at your disposal... Keep it up anyway!
Good news on your PC and the recording/editing setup. I have been thinking about an Egato (sp?) as I don't currently record anything. Keep up the fun work.
Finch Farm is unhappy and no longer affiliated with you!! You failed to protect them while in the middle of a fire fight with super mutants. Oh My...........I suppose Gravy will fine me. Cheers!
Are some of the items you're using mods? Or is it all from the dlc? Cause if it's mods I have not found any of the ones you're using. Like the warehouse pieces or the sloped floors? Also not sure if it's different for Xbox players...?
"A bunker is a defensive military fortification designed to protect people or valued materials from falling bombs or other attacks. Bunkers are mostly underground, compared to blockhouses which are mostly above ground."
Really enjoyed the video and congratulations on new PC! Looking forward to seeing Nuka World on your channel. As for Automatron I can't start the DLC because Ada refuses to talk to me on my main save. Haven't found a fix for it.
Chill fam you`re ideas are still amazing. Will you use the i5+970 to play with mods too? They could solve more than half of your problems. Also, whereabouts in London ?
hey um what mods do you use to build cause ive been watching your recent videos and i tried rebuilding the sanctary like you did and replace the floors and roofs of the houses so barely any light comes in
Dave, are you going to play FO4 on your new PC, or just use it for rendering? I think you'd get better gameplay / higher res / etc. playing on the new badass PC. But I havent played it on PS4 so I can't really say.
Hey Davey, can you do some hangmans ally stuff? it's a hard place to build in expecially without mods (I'm on ps4). Currently I'm trying to make the place into a scumy drug infested raider hangout with multiple levels and tons of neon signs and shops.... its umm kinda working but I'd love to see how you would handle the constants.
Are you using your controller on PC? Your camera pan movements seems smooth (controller analog like) and from comparing, your object rotations seem more controlled. I always find PC MB1 and MB2 rotates the objects a lot faster than controller, and moving the player is better for finite rotation.
My brother challenged me to make a rocket (he hated the settlement system and hasn't played in a while so I wanted to prove how awesome it is now) and I fell 5 stories and died. Just wanted to remind you to save when making tall buildings.
the rug glitch works with everything....EXCEPT the new shops. I have been doing the rug glitch pretty easy with everything, but I just can't glitch the new shops that came with the 1.7 update on Xbone
to be honest I was just an asshole trying to figure out the elevator. but I finished it half way through the video. wasn't nearly as hard as I was making it out to be. still gotta touch up the details though. and Finish the missle defense system at the top. thanks though for the video. helped get my ass to do it do it finally
Level 141 and settlement builder and did not know that... I've been placing, stepping as far back as poss and reselecting. DOH! Very grateful Leon, cheers bud K)
The whole heights thing about having the urge to jump off? I know exactly what you mean! I have the same feelings, and no, i'm not suicidal either. When i'm up high it's like gravity is saying "come down..come down! " Lol
I also imagine jumping. It is never consciously jumping, just like... I imagine that I lose control of myself and jump.
I can relate lolol! xD
But I decided to give in and get the freefall leg pieces, now I can jump about like a ninja haha
Caleb Malligan Lol!
Really, I am not suicidal, just because I have this strange urge to jump off of tall places doesn't mean I want to die...only that I want to fly~~
Peter Crockett Well, I do dream about flying ( not in a plane ) a lot...although it feels a lot like swimming in air! :P
King of settlement building. All hail King Davey 👑
Hail King Davey!
Hail King Davey!
Hail King Davey! \[T]/
Hail King Davey!!!!!
Evilviking13
The heights thing is evolution in motion. It's trying to tell you you can fly now ;)
somebody get Bill Conti on the phone. now.
Whom?
Erich Salvesen Gonna Fly Now? composer for the First Rocky film?
Ah. So no one.
Dude, I don't have the time to get creative in Fallout 4 anymore, so I'm honestly really glad you can so I can live vicariously through you. This was actually really creative and fun to watch.
Also, congrats on the new PC!
I was literally just searching though my feed to see if you posted anything. Glad I checked back.
Keep up the amazing work!
I should upload my Finch Farm multiplex on the bridge.
Plus. You're English Davey not a Yank. Stop saying elevator!!! Lift mate, LIFT!!
Tarquin Farquhar If he was like other english TH-camrs he would never say Fuck
starting at 10:50 Davey starts to make subtle hints that he's been kidnapped by a psychopath who kills a cuts people up and he needs help. Listen to it with your eyes closed. Davey, reply if you need help
waIt - would this make me Marina Joyce 2.0?
I mean I'm fine *HALP* obviously.
hahaha what the hell
+norespawns if you need help draw a cheeseburger on your cheek
Stockholm Syndrome... I think that's what it's called :D
I swear to god, every video I watch of yours I'm more and more impressed. Quality mate, utter quality!
My Jake got knocked into the smelter during the fracas. It was my fourth try and the first time I made it to a standoff point and I couldn't be bothered to give it a fifth go so his parents got the "I'm so sorry. There was nothing I could do. Can I keep this sword?"
7 year old PC? HAH! My dying 13 year old laughs in your face, with a hearty chuckle (followed by various coughing and spluttering noises).
*cowers at your 6hr rendering times and 15 minute boot-up*
Is is powered by a dinosaur on a treadmill...?
... for a second I thought you were talking about a 13 year old child.
+norespawns
It actually does have a 15 minute boot up, probably because of Windows Xp and the general shittyness of the PC.
I'm impressed - like me I imagine you're quite fond of indie games. More out of necessity - but they're awesome AF.
+norespawns
Yeah. It's more of a decoration nowadays. I went and got an Xbox one last year and that's been doing me well. It has a few frustrating bugs sometimes, but I'm happy with it.
In Grey garden I coaxed my settlers up to my penthouse with a BIG staircase , Then I took it away and built the elevator system.. MUHaaaaaaaaaa...
The videos look great Davey, glad you got your PC
welcome to the master race, davey
+Wavri Appleseed No. He plays on a PS4. The computer is for editing, rendering, uploading.
Please don't become a nerd nazi like Appleseed there, Davey.
I made a huge tower in the Slog, complete with a lift/elevator that my settlers can't use.
It was my first time using an elevator in one of my settlements and had no idea that settlers couldn't them, which was a pain in the arse as I then had to build a huge f*cking staircase.

If you have Wasteland Workshop, make a death pit with the spike traps. And then just shove settlers in it.
Davey, I enjoy hearing you get frustrated with the game, keeps my own building headaches relatable. Don't edit that stuff out too much. Also its just good fun hearing you swear from time to time.
21:53 - "This is me jumping with joy"
LoL - That made my day
It's okay, Davey. We love your "occasional" moments of utter derp.
This is honestly one of your best fucking builds, good job Davie keep up the good work!
Fucking auto-correct... Davey!
My Finch Farms was finished way before all the DLC so no elevators for me. I walled in the whole ground level and made it defense and farm. Up top on the overpass is living space for each settler plus a nice cozy place for my character. There is a platform hanging under the bridge with all my generators.
I'm impressed you managed for so long with such an ancient machine!
btw, I love your little bouts of internal rambling and swearing.
Oh, I *love* this~! So much nicer than the giant staircase to heaven~~~
Oh shite, how did I just now see this video? Damn you, TH-cam!
Dat quality tho. Haha, the build is funky and excellent, too. Loling at the warehouse walls realization :)
I have the same feelings about heights as well. If I'm leaning over the edge on any game like Fallout or GTA my legs suddenly get tingles and twitchy and I'm overcome with a strong feeling to jump.
That fear/desire of jumping is called "The Call of The Void"
Missed a ton of videos due to me not having the DLC, just getting back to all your videos. I really cant wait for PS4 to get mods to make building alot easier.
So building will be easier for you, is what I meant, even though it seems like you're doing well as is
there is now a mod for the vault that gives you elevators so you may want to take a look if you want to use them.
This elevator plan is really great in terms of aesthetics. Great job! Gives me so many ideas to improve my version of this. I guess the only downside is that it probably does raise your build meter quite a lot, if you're not using cheats to go around that. :-(
I love that: "I'm not suicidal ... but jumping off a tall building is on my to-do list". Hmmm...
:-)
You could use the greenhouse pieces to make a glass elevator :)
Love everything you do, I watch a lot of streams for fallout and I always tell them to come check you out for tips on building.
You must of loved walking the catwalks at Corvega???? I got wierded out due to my fear of heights on those stairs
Looks awesome. Now I need to spend some elevator time!!
Davey I nearly killed myself trying to build elevators for Graygarden. It was so horrible
Same here bro, I still havent been able to build stairs level to the overpass coming off the elevator. Such a pain in the ass.
+DragonMaiden77 assign them to the beds and they will occasionally spawn there.
+Erich Salvesen I'll have to try that. I used to assign them to the beds but they never stayed there and it would be unoccupied again.
the answer to this is getting the freefall legs. You take no damage from falling if you equip both pieces of armor
Can't wait for the Nuka World playthrough. I really want to see a raider give you and Hancock the side-eye and say, "I like Jet as much as the next person, but don't you think you might be overdoing it?"
Suggestion for NPCs when recording: assign them all to their own guard posts. They won't move around if they don't have multiples to patrol amongst. ;)
Absolutely inspiring. Thanks
This looks good, I did not know you could snap walls to the elevators, I will build a giant tower in spectacle island
Re: Jake not earning his keep... About the only job I was ever able to successfully assign to Jake was guard. He ignored any other job assignments.
Hey Davey, congrats on your new system. Looking better already! Meaning, the transgression is so much smoother XD
Ha, you're talking about your anxiety of heights. Have you played Dying Light? When you climb those huge antenna and 'almost' miss a jump when you're about halfway up, oh man, I feel my bladder cramping together...
Great video again, keep up the good work!
I worked on an elevator there the week it came out, and just ended up intensely disappointed that settlers don't use them.
Now that I know the overpass is valid building area, I see a junk mortar up there in the future. Ah, yes.
6 years later 😂
That’s a cool build I don’t know if I would be able to do that but I am going to give it a try.
I rather like your smaller, almost minimalist builds. To me, they are more believable in the setting.
Oh, you can save Jake? I thought he was a goner from the get go. Jeez, that must be tougher than saving Kent Connelly.
Funny story- whenever I go into Sagus Ironworks to do that quest my companions always attack him. I cannot bring Codsworth to Finch Farm ever, because he attacks on sight.
i am mostly scared of someone pushing me off a building when i am around people when am like in the mountains when there hikers
Use concrete or warehouse concrete floors to make stuff look perfect without floating
that thing you said about jumping is the same as me man, ive never heard anyone say it, i describe it the same :o
I never knew you could build there.

Great video, as always!
Acesome video, as always. Just wondering, how are the elevator-glitch coming? I dont dare use them.
That jump for joy at 22:00 is me after building a tiny shack that doesn't look awful. You are incredible Davey! Apologies if you've already gone over this in another video, but do you think you'll be adding any settlement mods now you're on PC? Keep it up anyway!
Good news on your PC and the recording/editing setup. I have been thinking about an Egato (sp?) as I don't currently record anything.
Keep up the fun work.
Davey, will you be revisiting and redecorating old builds with the new items we get from Nuka World?
Finch Farm is unhappy and no longer affiliated with you!! You failed to protect them while in the middle of a fire fight with super mutants. Oh My...........I suppose Gravy will fine me.
Cheers!
Are some of the items you're using mods? Or is it all from the dlc? Cause if it's mods I have not found any of the ones you're using. Like the warehouse pieces or the sloped floors? Also not sure if it's different for Xbox players...?
Can you get settlers up to the top in that thing? I want artillery up there.
what a grand elevator
You should turn the elevator into Libertalia and maybe make your hidden bunkers on top of the highway
How would one make hidden bunkers in the sky?
Erich Salvesen I'm referring to his other video where he put junk fences around vault pieces
"A bunker is a defensive military fortification designed to protect people or valued materials from falling bombs or other attacks. Bunkers are mostly underground, compared to blockhouses which are mostly above ground."
Keep up the good work thx for all the tips nd hints. Watched it all, LOL at the end!
what!!! I have an elevator and some supports in the same spot. I have a whole city on the overpass
What would you recommend building on the actual highway.
I made a stairway to the overpass before and used concrete foundation on the overpass.
Great building again. Are you overclocking your 6600k?
can You do a Summerville place build or maybe a sunshine tidings co-op build? (I know you wont do settlements with npc bodies that always stay
The settlers wont use the elevators but they'll teleport up to the top.
Been trying to put an elevator in exactly the same place but for some reason it will not let me place it anywhere
hey um what mods do you use to build cause ive been watching your recent videos and i tried rebuilding the sanctary like you did and replace the floors and roofs of the houses so barely any light comes in
He uses no mods. He's on PS4. So this is all rug glitches and such. View his old videos on tutorials on how to do these.
Congrats on the new PC I know the feeling! Also excited to see the Nuka World videos :)
Are you using your controller on PC? Your camera pan movements seems smooth (controller analog like) and from comparing, your object rotations seem more controlled. I always find PC MB1 and MB2 rotates the objects a lot faster than controller, and moving the player is better for finite rotation.
crazyjackaljones Um he is playing on ps4 in this video
My brother challenged me to make a rocket (he hated the settlement system and hasn't played in a while so I wanted to prove how awesome it is now) and I fell 5 stories and died. Just wanted to remind you to save when making tall buildings.
Is there more than two floor elevators?
And I just stretched scaffoldings to ridiculous length to create supports for roads and elevators going up...
Ey, Norespawn! What is youre favourite Fallout game you have played? Btw youre builds are frickin awesome! Stay cool m8! ;)
probably new vegas for the actual game; but Fallout 4 for the obvious reason of being the game that launched the channel.
one elevator can be connected to other by electrical wire.
How does he get the vault crafting menu outside of the vault?
you need to finish the dlc quests first.
the rug glitch works with everything....EXCEPT the new shops.
8 years later, Bethesda hasn't fixed the elevator bug with the floating switches. 😂
Everything is basically grand!
Now that the elevator's done I can finally work on the highway!
*Only enough room for a 2X2 shack*
:'(
what console do you play on? (i'm guessing PS4?)
weapon store glitch - unlimited settlement size
norespawns ohhhh, that was his problem.
*facepalm* i really should have thought of that beforehand.
How do you move objects away whilst not moving?
Hold X/A whilst the object is selected, and then you can move the object around with left stick, without moving your character.
