Maybe bhvr will do another massive update when killer klowns drops that massive perk overhaul came out right around evil dead’s peak. Side note I’m hoping killer klowns is good that movie is hilariously bad 😂
I actually really like these react style videos on DBD content creators opinions on the game and hear your thoughts on them. Hope you do more of them Tru3.
I have played alot of Online Games on a high skill level, Wow, League, DBD, but the DBD got the worst noob Devs, they have 0 idea about balancing for years, they made that game so noob friendly, i played it since 2016 release for like 6+ years, with like 15k+ hours gametime, this game makes absolute 0 sense, for example you have dead hard for 2-3 years and suddenly they completly change that perk haha, like alot of other perks too, the devs are just bad players who got 0 idea about high skill gaming.
Oh no, woman gamer hates that she can't burn crows as a survivor because it limits things to do for survivor even tho realistically she probably isn't anywhere NEAR high caliber and just cries because she relies on SWF
@@Tuskabanana there’s a reason DBD is where it’s at today and will continue to see success for years and years. They were a very small group of devs to now having hundreds. Now Unreal engine 5 coming it’ll only get better and better
@@vinnie4609they have been since day one “pretty good job so far” meme was some asking if they were happy with what they did so far because the game was a broke mess even more broken then now
@@boinggerss1560 seems a little bad faith. they did a good enough job for people to still be playing the game in an ocean of unfinished/unplayable video games that we're not taking into account in this discussion
They tried to bring in new mechanics by releasing Killers with new powers but that didn't really change anything. Still the same old game. No permanent fun modes or anything. At least LoL has ARAM and other stuff.
@@vBloodRed LoL had more than ARAM, it had Dominion (sure it wasn't popular, but it was refreshing to play it from time to time), they removed Ascension, they stopped doing Doom bots, they stopped doing the ARAM poro king mode, they removed Twisted Treeline, URF is still there but like twice or thrice a year for 2 weeks, same as with nexus blitz and the arena mode
I was looking for this comment, I don’t even know how survivors can play this game for 10 years with only one gamemode, you’re either running from killer (fun) or doing gens (skill checks), the fun part of the game is not even accomplishing the objective, doing the objective is the most boring part about the game, it starts to make sense when you realize the player base is aging fast lmao
Thinking about my mindset change from the beta to now is just surreal. Especially how quickly it went from hide and seek to looping and juking was wild.
Yeah it started as a fun to play, slow, hide and seek horror game and eventually became a very fast-paced, competitive-minded and sometimes very sweaty game.
I feel you but if survivors never loop them how do they have the chance to win a game? Simply just holding W and just throwing pallets without looping them will cause survivors to get destroyed
@@LoneWolfe_XX In beta/at launch, you'd camp a pallet, go for the stun, and try to hide hoping the killer loses you. Nobody knew what they were doing lmao. That's what I'm saying. EVERYTHING was very different at that time.
1:03:07 why we are Tru3 fans. Man is the Guts of DBD. From the Ochido madness, to Scott’s mental health issues, to whatever 99999 other controversies he gets pushed in. I know the world outside DBD. I know that some people will go after other by looks alone and Tru3 does have a face that internet goblins want to cancel. And sure Tru3’s take can miss from time to time. But the main point, “hooks are healthier for the game than kills”, is 1000% the answer, but this goblins in their blind hatred have gone against that and now in their stupidity they are now facing a game were proxy-hooks IS the way to go.
Problem with dbd is that they are trying to make it competitive, which will never work. But the devs dont listen to this, only to what they want to listen to
The problem is that they want to make it competitive but they balance around casual players and average. If you want to make a competitive game, you need to balance around top of the top (like lol), you can't balance around bad and avarage
@@albertosusy1649 It would be enough to divide matchmaking into casual and ranked, and balance them differently. Casual for the average player, and ranked for the top of the top. But you need a brain to do it and above all the desire to do it to improve the game, and I would say that bhvr lacks both
10:33 This was the last straw for me personally. I bought Chucky and they took away all the fun. Slap in the face as far as I am concerned. They did something similar to all last 3 licensed killers, which I also bought... I'm done with BHVR, I'm done with DBD. All they do is cater to the brand new players. They won't get another penny from me.
Started playing a little bit before Clown released, so like late 2018? When Paragon got shut down DBD became my new main multiplayer game. Played it almost daily till like 2021. Towards the tail end I played less and less and whenever I tried to play it just wasnt fun anymore. I waited for years for the xenomorph, and I was so excited to play but when the xeno dropped I played for like 2 hours and just didnt have a fun time. I had a great run with the game and I still watch many DBD content creators but for me personally the game just doesnt hook me in anymore, pun intended. The longer you play the easier it is to see the many issues with the game, the imbalance on both sides, the bugs, the lack of gameplay variation, the toxicity, it all starts to stack up. I was really hoping that many of the DBD killer games (Texas Chainsaw, VHS, Last Year, etc) would be successful enough to not only be great alternatives to DBD but to force BHVR to make some major improvements to DBD but all those games died. I would like to come back and enjoy the game again one day but I dont know what they could do to bring back that initial enjoyment I had.
It wasn’t broken doing it once. It was broken when there were team came along and tried to hold there all game. I had people try to do it to me and it took a little while, but not very long and I counted it because I wasn’t going to entertain it.
Tru is an absolute dbd sage, has been for years and the community has been catching up. I would want something like the suffer system so much more than "how many kills did i get?"
Older Dbd had a fun incentive to learn more, it's how the streaming and youtube got so popular, to learn about new skillsets to add to your belt of knowledge, resulting not just in more engagement with streamers teaching others (how i met Tru3 and Coco years back) but also is more excitement and experimentation to see "what else can i learn?? what untapped potential can i learn with Oni or Billy to go across the map" it's win win for everyone, the survivors rarely met that skill level in their games and when they did, they remembered it the most.
The major reason I stopped playing DbD after 7 years is that whether by design or not (probably not), every game wound up being exactly the same. Same perks, same strategies, same killers, same behavior from the player base...all these perks, all these killers, but the game forces you to have the same loadout and use the same handful of killers if you don't want to get completely stressed out or get stomped. I don't play a game to get stressed out or do the exact same thing ad-nauseum, I play games to have fun, and DbD ceased to provide that for me a long time ago.
Started with fun turned into a challenge then into stress fests then into apathy and finally into hatred. 2k hours on this game, i may have liked it at some point but now i just wish for it to die. Haven't touched it for years and i have no plans to, but watching people try to save this rotting carcass of a game has always been interesting to me.
The SBMM is, for me at least, the worst thing. I quit when it got introduced and was unbalanced af, I played a couple rounds on a newly created account to test that out (I played Nurse with some random Perks I got from the Bloodweb) First game was a easy win Second game was one of the most balanced matches I ever saw ironically enough, 2 kills but it was a good 'n fair round Third game and onwards the game were so unbalanced that it was literally impossible to play anything anymore
This video is actually very good, it gives perspective on the game and the philosophies that the game should follow. There was so much to unpack on this video and me personally, it's always a joy to watch. It's unfortunate we may not get heard for a long time but it's nice to dream.
Wallbouncing gnasher fights was the identity of gears multiplayer. It was also a double edged sword tho. The people that learned it loved it and separated gears multiplayer from other shooters. It also made it impossible to attract new fans after the Xbox 360 era. Most gears fans left are in their 30’s/40’s. Gen z and alpha aren’t into that.
I think this is the first time I've seen other content creators saying essencially the same thing Tru3 has been saying almost ever since release. Foundation problems, MMR problems, stop focusing on content, focus on fixing the base of the game, craving for the game to succeed and not look to give destructive critisism. Some minimal things may differ, but I finally get to see more people acknowledging the same problem with the same solution Tru3 has been "preaching" for so long. Maybe it wasn't all worthless Tru3. The game might change someday. Someone will become a new member of the balance team for DBD in Behaviour and shift the game completely. Someone will become a member of the core developing team and change the game completely. Who knows? It might be one of us. All we have left to do is wait, and try to somehow give a message just like you always have. Cheers m8.
The problem with this is that you might wait for something to change or someone to come and change things more than they've done in previous years, which might never happen. One person isn't enough to change everything, and people have tried for many years to change something, and everytime there's complaints, bhvr seems to change things in a very weird way, where they either buff or nerf something, people get mad, then they're reworked again, which goes to the same thing we had before, but possibly worse. So if you genuinely keep playing the game hoping for something to change, don't bother, you'll be heavily disappointed. Keep doing whatever u wanna do, and if things truly change, very good, but don't actively wait for that moment..
I recently uninstalled the game after playing since August 2020 (when they added crossplay). I have over 900 hours and here is what in the exit survey: Gameplay is exactly the same. It's draining and tedious to remember that you have to mindgame every loop, pallet, jungle gym, and then remember HOW to loop it/perform the mindgame. The fact that your grade doesn't decrease means matches have no consequence, and you've doubled down on this by making it so you can't depip either. The only way you can go is up, so there literally is no consequence to losing a match. You might as well just go afk in matches to decrease your MMR. Which itself is a huge cause of why the game is unfun. Especially after increasing the soft cap back in Oct 2023. Speaking of that time, the Reddit Q&A you did in Oct-Nov '23 just proved that you have no ambition surrounding this game - the mobile version has custom moris, ability to see surv loadouts pre-game, and even prop hunt! But the best you can do for the main game are charm codes for every LGBT flag in existence. Furthermore, you announced player emblems & banners in June '23 during the 7 year anniversary livestream, but didn't add them until the release of Chucky in Nov '23, and on top of that, there was only one available, which you got by buying the Chucky DLC! So in the 5 months between announcement & release, no one took existing PNGs for all the 70+ characters - survivors & killers up to, but not including, the Chucky chapter - and just released them as emblems and banners? Are you serious?
I agree with gen defense perks. They should remove gen defense perks from every killer and add it to a general pool. You then can choose to have different mixes of perks, like beign able to always choose 2 gen defense perks + 4 normal perks. However if you want 3 gen defense perks you can choose up to 2 normal perk and finally if you want 4 gen defense perks you cannot chose a normal perk.
39:20 I feel as if a lot of killers, despite having very strong 1v1s and end chases fast, the gens are still done faster, therefore still lose the game. These killers lack map pressure such as ability to teleport, etc. I feel like it is a bit of a design flaw of some killers because you make their 1v1 too strong and it is ridiculously unfun to go against because you go down fast as a survivor, but if the 1v1 wasnt that strong then the killer would have nothing because they have no map pressure, and a lot of killers still lose the game anyway. This makes playing killer unfun because you are still losing games, despite downing people fast and it also makes the survivors have little fun because they go against some killer with insane anti-loop that can down you very fast. I feel like unknown has been done very well, isnt the strongest killer due to being abled to get rid of weakened, but has both decent 1v1 and a quick teleport to apply pressure on gens so has a very decent kit to both get downs in a chase and get to areas of the map fast and apply pressure on the other survivors doing the objective.
100% agree about unknown, he for the most part is balanced, some loops u just can’t run him because of the splash but ya so many killers can end chases in less than 20 seconds making it really hard for survivors when theirs constant pressure, on top of perks causing gen pressure, swf is op but u can’t change the game bc of that
The salt is real in this game sometimes. This one guy got so upset today at me for running the og basement trapper build w two pink add ons, monstrous shrine, agitation, iron grasp, and deadlock because I got a 4k w it. They told me I was the worst killer they have played in two years and have no skill just because I ran a fun non meta build.
If I get put in the basement against trapper I just accept it’s pretty much gg in most cases. Does it take much skill? No. Would I care that much to get upset about it? Also no 🙃
Don't let survivors talk your mood down you did what you had to, survivors cry so much about everything when the killers should be the ones complaining because of how weak killers are and how OP survivors are
@@adyghena i don’t let it get to me, those type of people aren’t worth arguing with. i didn’t slug for a 4k and let the last person have a chance at the hatch. i really wasn’t even trying hard really, they just kept trying to do the 2 gens next to the basement at the start of the match so i place traps in the area till someone stepped in one.
And they need to make money, to pay developers, programmers, to keep the game going. It’s a business and the objective is to make profit. Whatever makes the most money is the road they will and need to follow
Honestly, what we needed was a lot of these OG TOXIC creators having quit a long time ago (not referring to the creators that Tru3 is reacting to). Ochido, the Entitled Elite and all of them, especially the ones that have gone after Tru3 again and again and again. THEY made DBD toxic and had ins with the BHVR Community Managers, which gave them more power/visibility and made everything so backwards. The favoritism to toxic aspects of the game (including streamers) by BHVR has cause so many of the problems. I haven’t played in years and this was one of my most favorite games. A shame. I still keep up through watching Tru3 though
ngl the beginning of her video had me iffy as it came off as “i can’t bully the killer anymore so i’m not having fun” but i’m glad i continued watching. she had a lot of good points and is not wrong at all about the DBD community. it’s terrible. where DBD matches have fewer people, and each of them having a much larger impact on the outcome, along with a lot of immature people trying to power trip, it leads to a lot of personal attacks. it’s so sad.
If im not mistaken, noob3 was the first and only dbd streamer that hit 1m followers on his channel. He was insanely big. His editing was great. But he bailed on his channel after the 1m thank you vid. He came back and got a copyright strike and was devastated many of his vids got deleted. He made a vid about it and never came back. TH-cam got strict. Pushed him away. Shame bc he was my first favorite dbd streamer.
Dudes success is insane for being always absent. The reason I don't like him is because he took the community for granted. His career was set in stone, and he said No. So weird, cause he could easily be profiting.
have u guys encountered the maps with huge red squares on the floor? Have had 7 matches in a row with a hook off the map in a huge red square. There are no walls and you can fall off and get teleported in the map randomly. As a killer, it's extremely annoying.
hidden mmr is what annoys me the most, with the gigantic amount of people posting the most ridiculous takes based on "every game that I play I manage to ..." completely meaningless statement without knowing mmr
Main reasons I stopped playing this game regularly is because if I'm playing as survivor then I get teammates who don't know what gens are. And if I play killer then I get games where the gens fly before I even get into a chase. Then there is the rampant toxicity in the game with the tbagging and shit at every safe pallet. Or the killer slapping me on the hook. The only reason I ever come back to the game now is for the events. Ironically the events help me relax because it gives me something else to work towards. Even if I spend the entire game getting bullied by the survivors I at least finished my event challenge such as breaking a certain number of pallets, getting a certain amount of downs, doing the event objective such as hooking survivors at an event hook or turning in blood droplets at the turn in area. Etc, etc. Having a secondary objective besides just getting kills or escapes is honestly more healthy for the game. In my experience anyway.
13:30 another good example of an unintended gameplay mechanic that actually made the game great was in DMC4. They unintentionally made it so if you started a move and cancelled into another move shortly after, you’d keep the momentum of the previous move and keep going in that direction while doing something else. The community started referring to it as “inertia.” I believe they said it was a glitch in the physics system, which is why it wasn’t in DMC5. It made people very inventive with their combos and playstyles.
her missing the burn on wraith is just brutal, it was a freaking nightmare having someone chase you the entire match ti burn you? its stupid, i cant believe her
The point about anonymous mod is ... welp, really the kind of thing only a survivor main would give. The ONLY reason my steam account is now private, and have been private for years is because of the survivor community of DbD that WILL literally brigade your profile page after a match where you won as a killer. The DbD survivor community is BY FAR the most toxic gaming community I've ever played with, and I played LoL at its peak toxicity.
I feel that, had to put all settings to private and hide my name in game. and I'm not even good, I just don't want anyone to sh*t on my perk choices as survivor, like, sorry for NOT running a meta build. and I wish you could at least see the killers name before the game, I never signed up to pop up on twitch for some random sweaty dude.ttv 😤
lol I had this guy saying I was a loser for slugging as oni yet that’s what he’s meant for.. and he’s only mad because I was P48 so he assumed I was a K main.. shits funny as hell I never usually comment on profiles either
I got my first bs Skull Merchant player today. Never met before but she camped at 5 gens. Downs me then let's me bleed out as she humped me on the ground. Hooks me then hits me on hook. But according to this community nothing killers do is wrong. Survivors should just die happily & killer players do what they wanna do. lol
This game just doesn't appeal to new players at all. Current players have to put up with a game that isn't balanced at all and devs who don't care about the community. Nothing worth grinding for since the game doesn't let you show it off. New players see this game and thinks it looks kinda cool but once they watch a video talking about it they see how bad the state of the game is and they see how the devs monetise the game which is not something modern gamers like at all. This meaning the pay-to-win characters. There are also a ton of pay-to-win characters so they ain't spending money that they could buy a new game with on DLC for a old game. They also sell this game for a price and not free to play while also asking you to get battlepasses and purchase from store I think (it's been a while). The only appeal this game has compared to similar games of it's kind is the killers and survivors taken from movies and that it's on console. There is also SBMM which is the most hated feature you can add to your multiplayer game because players hate that since it goes against ping based connection.
have to say I agree with her on every point in terms of skill being removed from the game. used to play solo queue. they added the info ui update, the borrowed time base kit. it removed the tense element from the game for me. of course someone is going to just sit on a gen when they can see their team mate is being chased. as a solo player games either became smooth sailing or sweaty. I miss the fun element, not knowing what the killer is doing and having to actually use game sense instead of just looking at the bottom left and seeing i'm safe. I still have love for dbd though. skill is being removed for new players. remove skill but they add banners lol.
My biggest issue with slushie's examples was in particular locker flashlight saves. I'm sorry, there isn't a situation where you can say that mechanic was good or healthy for the game. A literal uncounterable situation that was extremely easy to setup and the killer could do absolutely nothing about is as game breaking as literal infinites and I can't get in the mindset of someone who thinks this is a bad thing to remove such a mechanic.
Running Lightborn makes flashlights useless 100% completely useless, see flashlights in the lobby, put on Lightborn.....it was counterable these perks are added to give counter play but everyone just wants to run specific perks and then get mad when it doesn't give them the advantage they were hoping for
@@Mister_Nickster So your solution is to permanently make the killer have 3 perks to avoid situations which aren't counterable otherwise on basekit survivor? And you don't see how that's terrible game design? Jesus Christ.
@@Mister_Nickstersurvs with flashlights often are some of the worst and predictable players so lightborn isn't even needed most of the time. Just be aware of your surroundings lmao
@JCglitchmaster there isn't a flashlight in every single game lol lots of times there aren't any it's situational, I only run Lightborn if there are 2 or more flashlights in a lobby
@@Mister_Nicksteryeah but people would counter by switching items at the last second. Even then light born is kind of pointless now because people run background player and just pallet stun instead.
I think it's now undeniable that you are 100% correct in the hooks vs kills. A lot of the fun aspects of the game can be fixed immediately by them just changing the objective and the psychological effect SBMM has on players by just simply changing the win condition to the amount of hooks. You will still have tunnelling sure, but more players would be more inclined to spread. I also on another not, think it could be interesting for them to experiment with a mode where no Gen Regression or Progression is available - Gen kicks remove 15% - Gens take 100s to complete - Tool boxes do not effect gen speed, only hooks and possibly maybe to rebuild pallets or walls. I think this could be a very good tell on the balance of the game in order to move it to a more strategic but still fun experience. In regards to the anon mode, the players ive gone against that use it is the S who kills themselves on first hook and sandbags and bms or the killer who bleeds you out for 4 minutes whilst humping because they feel safe and hidden. I think that's what she is referring to. Annon mode is being used by players to just be extra assholes
Most of the complains were survivors not be able to counterplay killers that shouldn't be able to be countered (IE the weaker killers). Part of the reason Singularity and Ghost Face feel really bad at times is because survivors counter their power-- and their powers aren't even the strongest in the game. How can you complain about not being about to burn Wraith anymore-- but think Skull Merchant is OP. --- It's fairly obvious, they want the game to be broken FOR THEM. People who play skull merchant a lot of times do it to win. So why is that bad, but cheap interaction of burning Wraith is okay? They want to get free wins based on the side the play.
The reason Eruption went on for so long is but feels short is because it became what it was after Call of Brine with was added and got paired with Overcharge. Only then did it become problematic... So they killed everything.
@@kilzfordays believe me.. I hate it.. I have spent hundreds of hours and no money and on average it takes 70 hours or so for basic grinding per killer… so the current status of the game punishes those who want to try new builds and meme… you either grind your one killer and one survivor and run that build into the ground or you pay money or get lucky in the shrine weekly.. fucking sucks cuz I love this game
@@kilzfordays I do agree with you that nurse is one of the best in the game.. but I’m tired of being griefed in lobby chat after each game for my bootstrapped nurse build that I’m kinda forced to use without buying any licensed killer packs
Wavedashing actually was removed in later smash games because the devs are weird. I guess a better example for a non intended mechanic that became a staple for fighting games would be special cancelling in SF2, which was a glitch purposely left in during development and basically gave birth to combos as we know them today.
I don't understand why they aren't tracking so much more statistics, time in chase, average time to end chase, chase escape/catch ratio, time spent on gens, and so much more things could be tracked on both killer and survivor, that would impact WHY each killer is performing the way it is and how perks impact these statistics.
Unintended things in games often cN and do make games better bc of the skill it takes. Ex- flip resets in rocket league take 100s of hours to perfect. Moonrushes, v1 techs, hug techs are the same way. They are counterable, take skill to pull off, unintended by the developers, but add a whole new fun dimension to the game.
As someone who wants to start going in hard on DBD content, I feel like it might be a good place to build a little community but if you want to really grow and go further in streaming or TH-cam you'd probably have to move onto some bigger game or IRL content eventually. I love DBD and would want to see it in a better position of course but I just don't think it's for most people, I've tried to get so many ppl into the game. Just giving my thoughts based off the title not going into deep about the game and its mechanics
5:15 "one of the only thing you could do is light burn her crows or have someone chase you with a flashlight to get rid of thos crows" This, right there, is the perfect encapsulation of EVERYTHING wrong with survivor mains in DbD. They do not understand, or refuse to accept the fact that BEING CHASED is LITERALLY how the game is supposed to happen, getting hit then downed and then hooked is EXACTLY how the game NEED to proceed in order to the game to work. This gal LITERALLY think being able to hard counter a killer with a flashlight is 5:30 "a fun little interaction", this is insane. These people refuse think that if they can't "do something" about it, then there is a problem, and when you ask them how the killer is supposed to play if you can just "do something" to prevent him to catch them they just bluescreen. This game honestly deserve to die, it has attracted and pandered to the most braindead and entitled group of players I've ever seen for far too long. At this point they should just remove the player killer and replace it by an AI.
Exactly. It seems like survivors believe something is fair when Survivors have control of wether something happens or not. Like, if the killer isnt able to control the match and survivors win, they say he should play better. If the killer manages to grow in skill or strat to the point where he gets to control the outcome of a match most of the time, then its OP and it should be nerfed. Survivors aren't exactly "toxic", its just that most of them only think for themselves. Thats what an assymetrical game causes, in cod anyone can do what you can do so skill issue is nothing but the fact. Survivors, even if in a "chill" manner, simply dont know how to lose, they dont think it *should* be an option for them. If a killer manages to win by M1ing with perfect looping, theyre gonna come out with "killer shouldnt moonwalk" and stuff like that. And i say this as someone who enjoys survivor and would play it most of the time if it wasnt for the fact that i feel "lonely" and blindly depending on 3 random survivors, as a competitive player in any game, is too much stress for me, and as a killer main i understand the pain of SWF so i avoid it or exclusively do it with either a single close friend or a streamer pal. The game does not deserve to die. It is great as it is and extremly fun under the right hands. The community is the problem. DBD is that game we need but we dont deserve. (Yeah sure its not perfect and theres a lot of tomfoolery on the developing team, its the premise of the game that im talking about)
She Literally gave example like "blight hug tec shouldn't be removed" "flying Billy shouldn't be removed" she was giving examples for each side watch the whole video lil bro.
@@TheAssassin_KS Ha yes, the famous flying billy that literally never happen and barely give any advantage and the blight hug that is just a way for you to use your skill effectively, that's CLEARLY the same thing than whining about not being able to easily counter killers with flashlight.
I would have been burned out of dbd ages ago if it wasn’t for a rule I implemented for myself. For each survivor I make sure I use at least one of their teachables. This way it introduces variety into my games. I have slowly been playing killer less and less mainly due to the lack of variety because of the need for slow down perks. This is crazy to me cause for thousands of hours I was purely a killer main.
My biggest issue with DBD as a new player is the repetition every game is pretty much the same exact thing survivors fix gens killer hunt survivor rinse and repeat. I haven’t really run into the toxicity that everyone brings up in the community it’s definitely a game that I can see myself playing on occasion but definitely not everyday
One thing I noticed is that she was saying “this was fun for survivors but they removed it” not once did she think about how annoying all those things are to killer. Isnt that what devs balance around? Annoyingness
@@Ugly5872 who said it was all about killers? My point is that she’s making it it all mainly about survivors. Imagine actually defending locker flashlight saves saying it “required skill”. But like everything else, once you start doing it, it becomes muscle memory. Out of curiosity, could you tell me the counter play to flashlight locker saves? And “leave them” isn’t a counter
@@mohsaic3489 It's hard to pull off locker saves in solo Q where everyone is not coordinated. And lightborn as well as being more aware of your surroundings dude

i like seeing true comment and interact more with other content creators after he's had it rough for a few years from people trying to cancel. definitely should try to do more with others such as otz, jrm, hens so on
As a console player, its physically impossible to do some of the "high skill" techniques. So for me personally i see it as a good change. But i understand the frustrations. Same for survivor, the movement used to be awful on console. Instead of making it possible to do techniques for both killer and survivor on a controller, they just nerfed it overall. A quick and lazy fix but still, for me personally, better than no fix at all
I mean the thing is the DBD players r goin up, at least on Steam, the average players went up by 10k in a month, maybe it’s cuz a chapter dropped, but that didn’t happen with Xeno, Chucky, or Alan, so I’m sure they see no issue losing 3 streamers if they gain 10k players on Steam alone
@jakez5227 I mean, your comment wasn't relating to the video. It was relating to this comment. I'm trying to figure out why you decided to reply like this when it has nothing to do really with this comment.
The shittiest option, but the one that would solve the "its hard to balance SWF!" issue forever: Remove SWF from matchmaking. Just solos. SWF in private Kill Your Friends lobbies. Absolutely horrendous option, but it is an option. The less shitty option to fix Matchmaking overall: Until you reach a certain level of Matchmaking, you will have strict matchmaking that finds opponents only at your skill level. Once you breach that point, you can *choose* to turn it off, allowing you to face anyone of any skill level (above that point, with the option off as well). The reason this one is shitty is someone could smurf and just never turn it off, facing new players eternally.
That first option is probably the most logical option but the game would instantly die out 😂. I always thought the game play was the most leveled out at the true solo q experience. (Pre perk nerfs) .Comms really affected the game. I think it’s too late tho to make it solo mode only. And if they separated swf into a different que it only would work with 4 man swfs and the killer chooses to go against swfs .. then the que times would be much longer ya know for swf mode. But that options makes the most since and def is the last resort option 😆
DBD is always one of those games i always go back too. Its got a special place in my heart. Been playing since beta.... ive got between xbox and pc 10347 hours played. For whatever reason i went back to it recently! Wish me luck!
I totally agree with the idea of making hooks the method for DBMM. I only see one issue. That issue would be what you count for MMR gain/loss/stagnation when playing. I think that a solution could be that you lose MMR when getting 1-4 hooks. Your MMR stays the same when getting 5-7 hooks. Your MMR would increase when getting 8-12 hooks. This way, you aren't really forced into kill or hook efficiency. I run aura reading builds, and I often get between 7-10 hooks per game on average.
the thing that sucks is that swf exists and is promoted. it should of never been intended to swf. Solo surv is what makes this game great. and now killer is balanced around facing a swf every game, so every game they tunnel, camp, bring insane perks, and ur playing with people with like 500 hrs. its so boring, it should be the best part of the game playing solo, but they balance around fucking knightlight and other comp players who grace solo q with their presence like 2 hours a week. its truly what kills this game.
I've played for a while and have +1k hours, yet I'm not very good. maybe 100 hours have been swf, if at all. I don't know how all these people have so many friends 😅
Dont blame this on the people that play competitively, there are MANY MANY ways to make solo q close to swf level, the devs just arent doing that. I'll give you some examples: a ping system like the one in League of legends where you can ping your intention, a voice chat (If you dont want that because of "toxicity" then stop playing multiplayer games in general), make the survivor role more team based, meaning the winning condition would be to get 3 escapes and not to escape yourself, this will shift the mentality of the people to play more altruistic resulting in soloq being more enjoyable. And this took 5 minutes of thinking imagine what people that are literally paid to do this could come up with
They have to lower the skill cap because they want to attract new players and when a new player enters a game that is too demanding they just leave because they have nothing invested, and MMR doesn’t matter because people Smurf. You can already see this in a lot of games when your average player is a sweaty dude in a basement with 10k hours your game is dead.
This cancelation thing where coconut talked about how someone apparently played bad was cancelation. It might not have looked like it, but people were actually going after him for walking in front of someones flashlight. Might sound weird, that's because it is. Should be noted, that there's no one way of getting canceled, I've seen Tru3s Twitter and how bad people are going after him, it's way worse in comparison to Coconut, but it's still classifiable as canceling
Lets be honest, a good majority of people who have thousands of hours into the game are most likely not even playing and are just idle in the lobby/main menu
Removing Hug Tech is sad because it was very fun and now Blight's kill rate is going to go through the roof because they will be all business instead of messing around going for a 50/50 hug tech
I’m just sick of Behavior being awful at balancing or making changes. They’re is never a minor adjustment to thing it’s usually one extreme that hinders either killer or survivor. These past few updates has ruined the game for me to the point I have zero intentions of ever coming back. I enjoy watching you, Otz, Ayrun and so on play because it’s fun to watch but for me - the game is dead. That can change in the future but for now it’s over for me sadly 😔
A ranked que would change the game, it be nice to play a game with survivors who dont want to quit because youre not handing them a gen simulator game... no game modes, horrible match making, even worse pub matches, and over nerfs with broken perks will never let this game evolve to the next level
I agree with the anon mode revealing the name at the end. Personally, I like when I see a TTV in my lobby, especially when it’s one of my favs that I watch constantly. I get excited for the game. Unfortunately many of the “bigger” streamers use anon mode so I’ll never know if I got to play with or against them. Also, it builds community. I like knowing who I played with so I can check out the stream.
In fairness. This isn't a game that should be balanced around competitive skill expression. This is a party game. You want to play a hyper comp game in today's age you need to play Siege, Apex, OW, etc.
The devs make sense in watering down the harder game mechanics because from their perspective bringing in new players is how they grow the game, current players may buy every dlc but that doesn't make the game reach further. This problem is seen across any live service game where the burden of knowledge that is picked up as time goes on separates good and long term players so much from anyone wanting to start playing. it's all about $$$$, you have thousands of hours from one customer where you'd actually like to have 50 customers with fewer hours to drive scales of economy in MMR, game quality etc.
If they truly believe in the new player experience then they should add a guide and updated tutorial to the game itself instead of relying on Otz to train all of their new players.
The issue with the devs is their fear of using player suffrage in order to keep players hooked, Elden ring is next to impossible to play for the first time ever and 0 death the game, there are no tutorials you have to figure it out yourself, if new players on dbd lose and lose they eventually piece things together and create game plans sometimes player need to suffer in order to grow better
I had an idea to rework ds for people who really want it to be an anti tunnel perk, just make the timer pause while running around in chase but turn the timer down to like 30 secs or less. Buffing the ds stun timer is just dumb.
On the SBMM argument about SBMM making meta perks more common is copium. The meta was established well before SBMM. I mean if one wants quick evidence watch Otz's old winstreak videos from before MMR. Not only is otz using meta or largely meta perks, so are almost every survivor otz was going against, often with him pointing out how during that time there was little to no perk variety. It mainly always being DS, unbreakable, DH, Iron will, Borrowed time (good reason for BT) I experienced this much myself.
28:44 How in the world would any developer go about making playing with friends/a group on the same level as solo queue? I don't see how that's possible in any meaningful way.
@@panzer00 That's buffing soloq, not bringing swf's power down. There are mang ways to increase solo's power to be closer to swf, but True was talking about lowering the power of swf towards soloq. That is not possible.
@@FancyDakota if swfs can only communicate when they're within proxy chat, wouldn't that make communicating and organizing "plays" more difficult for them? Isn't swfs communicating part of why swfs are strong?
"I don't think the devs treat veteran players very well." That's because they already have your money and they know veteran players are going to keep playing no matter what changes they make.
My favorite thing before the mmr as killer was seeing the crazy perk combos of everyone now we see the same 5 or 6 and even same 4 every game it’s why I stopped playing a year ago
lol, i watched coconut's video first, and after watching true's, I realize how many opinions slushie makes sound incorrect to me where the stuff she wanted to kept in the game, some of them just have no counter play and it's not even hard to do(e.g. light burn wraith ). However, I do understand(or at least feel like) slushie is more venting her feelings , rather than making an bullet proof argument.
I believe the reason cancel culture is so prominent in DbD is because DbD DOES have a very toxic community making people try to overcompensate for that by essentially "muting" streamers so that they dont set a bad example and worsen the toxicity that already exists.
Damn I didn’t realize how many people quit dbd, I use to watch Dowsey and Monto and I look for them now and they’ve quit. The issue with catering to new players is they’re not guaranteed to keep playing dbd but I guess as long as new players spend money they don’t care about longevity. What a shame, I’d say dead by daylight needs a new team or just a new company that would actually make the game better because the current workers at behavior don’t care at all, it’s all about money which pays the bills. Dead by daylight was never the type of game that should have got a skill based implementation. It ruined the game and the data makes no sense. It’s so many issues with the game that it would take too much time and money to fix at this point. This type of stuff is why people make Smurf accounts because just because you’re good at a game doesn’t mean you’re some type of god tier pro at a game and this sbmm literally means after some time of constantly winning you will get burnt out of going against bully squads and the same people.
There are so many good opportunities to make the game kinda fun. Maybe implement a Map Editor for custom community-maps and games. Make permanent fun modes or maybe even a short singleplayer mode (Bots are pretty solid nowadays). Maybe give players cosmetic awards for Prestige 50 and 100, similiar to the bloody Clothing. There are so many things you could do with this game.
So I 100% agree with EVERYTHING Tru3 said here because he & i are REAL, actual original DBD players. I started playing at Beta too. I currently sit at 15k hrs in DBD. Tru3 & I are the ultra rare top players who actually do know this game better than 99.99% of the player base nowadays. We've seen from day 1 to nowadays & it is beyond saving for sure & yes! it is dieing because of how much of a broken toxic mess it thanks to clueless devs & survivor mains. (before anyone comments "dbd isnt dieing! it has 15k or 20k players!", Look at the analytics! Its all public, get out of that echo chamber & look for yourself for once! Its lost 73% of its player base in 18months!! that equals a dieing game! FACTS, no other way to see it!) Its a shame to see it fall so far so fast!
Forgive me I won’t be using time stamps but keep my comments in rough order! I think there’s a little misconception with the games “skill expression” as a term it’s more a Game Knowledge “expression” you get a bit hung up on that I’ve been noticing for a while… Flashies were def to strong in a lot of cases. Locked to One on one it would have been fine for wraith(maybe make it so only one flashy can burn at a time), setup killers could have maybe locked it to only survs in chase could burn set powers(adjusted burn speed based on killer) and nurse needed no change. As for locker blinds they maybe could have added the ability to down a survivor in the locker and they fall out letting the killer pick them up when ready and at any angle as counter play, it is still possible to locker save with the flash bang but that actually requires timing it and is a earned resource… Eruption… how would it be now that the gens have a kick limit I wonder…? Maybe they should revert it and possibly give it a nerf that reduces the kick limit on a gen instead? I’m so sick of the “punished for playing with friends” excuse isn’t playing with friends the fun part? And they don’t even think about the killers experience. The kill data also doesn’t factor in the hatch mechanic or hooks XD Clown… I love clown but I firmly believe his bottle should just grant him both effects… antidote is a clunky mechanic that feels stupid when a survivor can benefit from a killers power at this stage, this change would likely need a bottle count nerf tho.

Thinking about my mindset change from the beta to now is just surreal. Especially how quickly it went from hide and seek to looping and juking was wild.
Also I'm pretty sure you're right about original DS because I remember someone saying they'd bring a mori to counter DS.

@@illNicola Yeah, they should choose the direction which they want to go. Currently, the devs seem really inept.

They won't get another penny from me.
They ruined Sadako, they took away her high skill celling Condemned only playstyle, I invested lots of hours into it, and they just got rid of it.
They should just make a ranked mode which can split between new players and experienced players.

Tru is an absolute dbd sage, has been for years and the community has been catching up. I would want something like the suffer system so much more than "how many kills did i get?"
Had his hits and misses.
I quit when it got introduced and was unbalanced af, I played a couple rounds on a newly created account to test that out (I played Nurse with some random Perks I got from the Bloodweb)
First game was a easy win
Second game was one of the most balanced matches I ever saw ironically enough, 2 kills but it was a good 'n fair round
Third game and onwards the game were so unbalanced that it was literally impossible to play anything anymore
This video is actually very good, it gives perspective on the game and the philosophies that the game should follow. There was so much to unpack on this video and me personally, it's always a joy to watch. It's unfortunate we may not get heard for a long time but it's nice to dream.

I have over 900 hours and here is what in the exit survey:
Gameplay is exactly the same.
Yeaah you just suck at the game. I've seen people with quadruple your hours and they simply suck ass.
Then you balance stuff from there. But gen defense becomes base, and the devs develop non gen defense perks to replace the ones removed.

DBD gives people weird egos when the game is so basic

Tru3, you are a natural with the react content! Would love to see more!
Your reaction to For the people/Buckle up had me in stiches. Its exactly how i reacted
hidden mmr is what annoys me the most, with the gigantic amount of people posting the most ridiculous takes based on "every game that I play I manage to ..."
completely meaningless statement without knowing mmr
It made people very inventive with their combos and playstyles.
that 62% kills Freddy is me , im the only Freddy player lol
her missing the burn on wraith is just brutal, it was a freaking nightmare having someone chase you the entire match ti burn you? its stupid, i cant believe her
Back when i played CoD mainly they did the same thing. Always catered to new player experiences and such. Made the game so annoying for vets
Survivors should just die happily & killer players do what they wanna do. lol
u do realize u can set ur profile comments to friends only?
What characters are pay to win? Ehh?????
@@BrothaMan831 Well... wouldn't that be the characters you pay for
have to say I agree with her on every point in terms of skill being removed from the game. used to play solo queue. they added the info ui update, the borrowed time base kit. it removed the tense element from the game for me. of course someone is going to just sit on a gen when they can see their team mate is being chased. as a solo player games either became smooth sailing or sweaty.
Because it’s pay to win, and toxic, and the shrine sucks, and balance is off, and cheaters
Dbd isn't pay to win. You start with Nurse. You can beat 90% of teams with no perk Nurse.
@@kilzfordays but in order to have all the skills needed for the meta build, those are locked behind paywalls or the shrine which both suck

Although the removal of wavedashing for later games basically made melee the most popular smash game competitively
What bugs me about coconut is that he wants exploits to remain in the game and calls it “fun” chaos. Called him out once and he made a video about it.
DBD just got so fkin boring...i got excited to see the unknown killer but after than man, i just dropped the game again cuz it was too boring.
Great analysis, True, watched it to the very end 💜
5:15 "one of the only thing you could do is light burn her crows or have someone chase you with a flashlight to get rid of thos crows"
This, right there, is the perfect encapsulation of EVERYTHING wrong with survivor mains in DbD.

My Problem with Anonymous Mode is if someone cheats, you cant report a player with steam ID - you can't go on the Steam profile.

How do people still not understand that Hooks>Kills would be more fun

The shittiest option, but the one that would solve the "its hard to balance SWF!" issue forever: Remove SWF from matchmaking. Just solos. SWF in private Kill Your Friends lobbies.
Absolutely horrendous option, but it is an option.
The less shitty option to fix Matchmaking overall:
Until you reach a certain level of Matchmaking, you will have strict matchmaking that finds opponents only at your skill level.
I think SWF should always be matched with sweatier/higher level killers.
Scampering under the pallets would’ve been amazingly funnnyy
the thing that sucks is that swf exists and is promoted. it should of never been intended to swf.

Now we have to get Otz to react to this and make his video like 4 hours long lmao
Lets be honest, a good majority of people who have thousands of hours into the game are most likely not even playing and are just idle in the lobby/main menu
I have 5,000 hours in dbd. Now about 75% of the time is spent idle in the menus lmao
I get excited for the game. yea, i miss dbd from 2 years ago. great times.
I tried to get back into it after 10 months but I fear I will eventually drop it again, the core issues have always existed.
And killers brought ruin, undying, pop, corrupt before SBMM. Meta is meta and people will always bring in what’s strong

I had more fun with this game when it wasn’t balanced and sterile. That’s when I got into it. If I wanted fairness I could go play chess.
Adding in feint animations would be an interesting Idea for both killers and survivors
Its a shame to see it fall so far so fast!
The video Dowsey made a while ago called "KILLS = SKILL" will prove Tru3's point to a lot of the people who don't see it yet.
Forgive me I won’t be using time stamps but keep my comments in rough order!
I think there’s a little misconception with the games “skill expression” as a term it’s more a Game Knowledge “expression” you get a bit hung up on that I’ve been noticing for a while…
Flashies were def to strong in a lot of cases. Locked to One on one it would have been fine for wraith(maybe make it so only one flashy can burn at a time), setup killers could have maybe locked it to only survs in chase could burn set powers(adjusted burn speed based on killer) and nurse needed no change.
As for locker blinds they maybe could have added the ability to down a survivor in the locker and they fall out letting the killer pick them up when ready and at any angle as counter play, it is still possible to locker save with the flash bang but that actually requires timing it and is a earned resource…
Eruption… how would it be now that the gens have a kick limit I wonder…? Maybe they should revert it and possibly give it a nerf that reduces the kick limit on a gen instead?
I’m so sick of the “punished for playing with friends” excuse isn’t playing with friends the fun part? And they don’t even think about the killers experience.
The kill data also doesn’t factor in the hatch mechanic or hooks XD
Clown… I love clown but I firmly believe his bottle should just grant him both effects… antidote is a clunky mechanic that feels stupid when a survivor can benefit from a killers power at this stage, this change would likely need a bottle count nerf tho.
