    Thank you. Just learning all things related to 3D printing. Yours is one of my "go to" channels for Bambu Slicer. Usually have to watch a few times for things to click in. Like that the videos are short and generally one topic at a time. At this stage of the game I find I get overwhelmed if the lessons are too lengthy. Subscribed

    If you have the AMS and want to paint the text. Select both objects in the object tab. right click and hit Mesh boolean. They now become one model and you can use the paint tool to paint just the top layer of the bottom of the text. Doesn't take much more time to print and do not use much material at all.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes indeed. Looking back at this video I realized mesh boolean wasn't even a option. Assembly and mesh can help with coloring.

    thnx man! at first I wanted letters in a different color but I gues you shouldnt print them sideways but rather from top to buttom and also my letters were really small so they became really ulgy. Now i tried again with the 0.10 thickness setting you showed on the video because i can only print this text sideways because the modle is not able to print in the other direction. Also I just did 1 color now. Hopefully this time the letters will be better. Thanks for the information man!

      Hello. I tend to print horizontally as I am impatient but you can definitely try vertically. Not show here but you can print the part with a deboss(negative part) and print the letters separately with another color and assemble it after printing.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, welcome to the channel and Thank you for the question.
      Yes you can change the color of the model inside of bambu studio.
      There could be 2 parts to this answer
      *part 1*
      If you have an AMS typically the Bambu studio will show which colors you have or you can select your own.
      by
      going the left you will see the colors and numbering. If you only see one color click the + button near "flushing volumes" (you can add up to 16 colors even if you dont have 4 AMS units).
      and you will add a filament. You can change the color by clicking the color with the number inside.
      *****************
      *Part 2*
      One the colors/filaments are added you can either right-click on the model, on the build plate, go to "select filament", then chose the color.
      or *go to the left side*
      find the model you want to change color
      click the number on the model or text shape in this case my models were pink(1). when you click it you will see the other colors you selected in part one.
      Lastly (but not necessary you can paint each letter manually)
      ***********************
      Side note This only changes the colors in the slicer. You will of course need to match the colors in the AMS unit when you print.
      If you don't have an AMS it gets a little more advanced to change colors manually but it can be done.
      Some of my other videos kinda shows this.

    Hello Ashley, Great instruction. I am a newbie and am loving learning all the features of my Bambu printer. I do have a question. What is the reason that the printer prints a small rectangular strip in the back of the build plate when you print multiple colors.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello there and welcome.
      The small rectangular strip, when printing multi color, is called a "prime tower".
      When your printer changers colors it will eject filament out the back(poop chute) then purge more into that rectangular block. There is a way to disable it but you may get color bleeding of one filament to another of it is off. Some colors require more purging over others think black/white but that block is generally a good thing to keep your colors nice and separated.
      The prime tower will also show up of you use the "smooth" time lapse feature. The print head parks over the chute before a picture is taken. In that case if cannot be disabled.
      If you have any questions I will try my best to answer. I'll try to keep my videos and answers "bite size" so it's easier to digest.😁

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. There isnt a direct way to have them arc in the slicer.
      ***************************
      You can sorta do it by placing letters one by one and rotate them with the "angle" function.
      *******************
      I have been playing around with creating a sphere or cylinder, wrapping the text with "surface" checked. then remove the object and keeping the text. There is a lot of manual adjustments. partial steps here th-cam.com/video/UekEbg_ZkgI/w-d-xo.html
      ***************
      BUt the simplest way may be just creating the circular ornament and importing it. It does not have to be in a CAD program. Just any program that can export a SVG file. If you have a all purpose photo editor without a SVG export you can create a PNG/jpeg upload it to vector.ai and use that. I would recommend keeping the item simple. To many edges/colors cause errors.

    Great video on several aspects of text. I've only had my A1 mini for a week but I'm having a blast. This video got me over the hump of working with text. Your tip of going from Global to Objects also showed me how to solve printing the text in a different color at the group level. Maybe I missed it but is there a way to center text on the object? I did right click the object text and saw there was a CENTER option. I clicked that but my text went away. Perhaps it moved it to the center of my entire model instead of just centering it on the front of the object where I dragged it.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Than you very much. Unfortunately the center object moves it to the center of the plate. So there are some manual adjustments needed.

      @ashleys3dprintshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sundance2005 That A1 mini to A1 was kinda a rug pull. lol. Both seem very capable but the price difference wasnt too crazy, so I could see the A1 being more popular than the A1 mini if size was an issue.
      It's a breath of fresh air focusing more on my prints than the printer. Started with an ender 3 pro...The things I learned were valuable but if I had to do it again....😧

      @ashleys3dprintshop  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, welcome to the channel. Thank you for the question.
      As I understand the question you wish to potentially cut text or a shape into a part?
      There are 3 ways to do it
      I can refer you to a few videos that may be helpful. Modifier, Negative parts ,mesh boolean.
      Mesh boolean (this will be good if you need to make the cavity permanent then add the text after)
      th-cam.com/video/z4l75T6jliA/w-d-xo.html
      Text More text options
      th-cam.com/video/DxFQfYj-baM/w-d-xo.html
      Negative Creating holes or filling them

    Hello, great video. Im new to 3d printing. Im making keychains for my business. Ive figured out how to fill the bed with the item. My question is, is there a way to stack print with supports to get multiple layers as well? I have the bambu a1 mini using the bambu slicer program.

      Hello👋. That is a very interesting idea. It is theoretically possible to stack multiple layers but I forsee some quality issues on the layer touching the supports.
      So thinking about it
      ~~~Print
      ****support layer(petg)
      ~~~Print (pla)
      ___Base plate
      Pla/petg don't bond so it's possible to do. 🙂I haven't tried it personally but would make for in interesting topic.

    Can you create the objects in BBS? If not where did you make them, Tinkercad or similar and import them?

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are creative you could make objects in Studio but it may take some skill with cutting, assembling, negative parts, mesh boolean. ideally you would import an existing model/stl from tinkercad, blender etc. The only "creation items" are simple primitives' like cube, sphere, cone, cylinder but it is theoretically possible to build something. .(right click, add primitives)
      Studio can be good with simple modifications like adding text. combining items, cutting, resizing in fill, walls and so on.
      From one of my later videos I showed how to make a light box 95% within slicer with a single SVG image file. The other 5% was getting the svg file. lol.
      I think with my "Bambu studio for beginners" playlist it is geared towards getting everyone comfortable using the slicer to get good results without switching to other programs but for truly custom jobs it may require another program.

    Thank you for sharing your content. Quick question. When I print raised text on the side of my part it doesnt look good at all. Looks very choppy (if that makes sense). Do you know why this would be happening? Thank you.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A lot of it would depend on the size of the text and the orientation. Printing text on the side of an item has to put the letters together line by line which won't look as good as making it print face up, or flat.
      If you have to print with the letters on the side you can try lowering the layer height from 0.2 to something lower. Just keep in mind when you make the layer height it will increase the print time

    Great tutorial, just one thing I’m confused about. Should the thickness be set to zero whenever you embed the text? What if you imbed the text say to 3.00 and set the thickness to 3.00 while having it set to negative part. Does it cancel itself out and then its flush with its surroundings?

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Great question. When you set the part to negative it changes it's characteristics. It doesn't matter what the thickness is just the embedded matters.
      I made the reference in video so you can see it go into the model when you embed but unless you make it a negative part embedding alone doesn't do much.
      The last embed to negative example, with the cylinder, shows that I didn't shrink the thickness at all. Just changed the embed and made it negative.
      Of course there is one example where you would want to shrink the thickness if the letters touch the model in multiple places.

      Create your text in the "input text" field

      Yes. During my time using the slicer there is a very simple way to do it. So some of the info here is a little out of date.
      1. Add your text. Change the color on the left. you can just press the number corresponding to your number slot.
      2. Set your layer height *thickness* for the text to at least 1-2 layers. For instance at .2mm layer height it would be .2mm thickness .4mm for 2 layers etc
      3. This is a little trickier at first but you can use the move tool to lower the text into the model so the text is flush.

      Without seeing your model I can offer a general idea of how to make it flush.
      Let's say your model is a coin 5mm.
      1.Flip the coin so writing side is face up.
      (this is optional but could help)
      Make your model 1mm taller in Z, turn off "uniform scaling"
      2.Add your text. Set an embed depth to 2mm. The thickness wont matter in this scenario
      3.Select the cut tool
      cut the first 5 mm. you will only need the bottom part.
      Flip the coin so the writing is face down.
      Slice then print.

      Just made a quick video about making flush text. You can print it flush to the plate or flush in general.

    I can’t put 2 lines of text & see it.
    Like print preview

      Perhaps I can make a video showing the steps. 😁 Luckily it's not overly difficult but there are some steps that make it easier to do.
      There is an order of operations when placing text. th-cam.com/video/mNaFPv932WA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=s82TydeNjgmkiEVm
      Go about 15:25 on that video above.

    can you do a video on how to erase text from 3d print files

      Sure I can take a look. Do you have a model in mind? Some of the steps may vary depending on how the text is on the model.

      @@damaylaphoenix1155 I made a video that touched on this a short time ago.

      I could revisit it since I have gone over mesh boolean which is a more advanced version of the technique shown.
      But the general idea is there.

    On the cylinder text, is it possible to have it on different color than the body? Can the AMS print this?

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. Thank you for the question. You can create text and color it with the AMS.
      Here is an updated video for other text techniques.
