- Hi Nail Friends! I'm a DIY at home acrylic dip powder user. I am not a professional, just having fun and saving $ by doing my own dip powder manis! A couple of questions: Do you have a cuticle oil recommendation that doesn't have a scent? I am very allergic to lavender and most oils have a lavender scent. Do you have a video on the other ombre technique you mentioned? I struggle to get my nails to look as professional as in these videos despite following all the steps exactly.
I was impressed when I did my review video a couple days ago. I am still using the liquids and they haven't gooped up or hardened on me or anything. Very happy with them!

I actually have never heard of activating and filing/buffing before scrub ombré. I’m no pro by any means but I learned to scrub a different way which may help. I always fail at the sprinkle method (I have bad aim 🤣)! I’ve always done my last dip coat of the base color, wait a few seconds, don’t brush excess, then scrub the other color on. It would save you the clear coats preventing the extra thickness. 🤷🏻♀️ it works great for me, just a thought 😊 LOVE your videos!!
Thank you for the advice! It wasn't pigmented enough with the scrub without the clear with these colors. I want to try again with maybe a sheer and a color!
Lavender is also my favorite! I ordered the set with Magnolia, emerald and other colors. I can’t wait to get them on Tuesday! I use their clear powder for base and also for encapsulating it’s my favorite! The mani came out so pretty! I will definitely have to try even though I have a hard time with ombres... 😳

I love the DD kits. You convinced me... and I already have so many dips. You and Carole Annette got me started. I ordered all of my DD kits on sale. Started with 4 last month and just ordered the Friday party glow and flip flop kits. I like the liquids. I just need to go slow. I liked the latest mermaid kisses kit but I have to draw the line. I'm really surprised I can't find more you tube demos with these DD kits. I'm wondering if they need more demonstrators. It would be fun for me to do but my hands are not so pretty. I have an arthritic finger and working girl hands. I love the colors on your video. Are they part of a kit? Anyway. I just want to thank you. I always love your manis.

What do you wipe your nails with to do the top coat water or alcohol? And if I’m doing a gel top coat do I need to wipe them as well before putting the gel on?
With this brand I just used a dry paper towel to wipe my nails really well after letting the activator sink in for about 45 seconds. I personally would wipe after the activator before using the gel top too, just to be sure you don’t have any activator residue get picked up in your gel brush.
Note: Some people skip doing activator again if they are using a gel top, but I like to reactivate, as a personal preference.
Is that builder gel under your mani or clear dip? Looks so good and I’m trying to figure out a way to make my uneven nails smoother. This mani was fabulous on you.
Thank you! I use Triple D builder gel! I made extensions on this hand in a video if you’d like to see? It was right before this one. For me, I use as an overlay on my right hand and then for extensions on my left at the moment. I love it because I use peel base before I dip and never worry about damaging my natural nails. 😊

What’s peel base ?
It’s a thin barrier between your nail and dip so you can pop off the dip or soak it off faster.
Yard work makes my arms jelly. 😞 Especially here in Texas.

Why is it important while doing the scrub method, to apply the clear first and than the color your using to scrub? And not just like dip or pour over the scrub color and than go on top of it with scrubbing? I’ve never done it and always wanted to give it a try, but didn’t know how and found your video and I like it but is there other techniques on how to do it? I’m still trying to remotely master any type of ombré method without it looking super bulky on one side of the nail if I do a horizontal/vertical ombré but having the hardest time

On a few nails here I had created extensions using Triple D Builder Gel. (I have a video where I showed how I made the extensions.) Now, my nails are all one length, but I still wear a thin layer of builder gel for strength and protection. I like builder gel much better than tips if I break a nail and want to match it up with the others. It looks and feels more natural!
You may want to explain along with the steps what you are using. That would help me.
