    I remember my dad and I did a last minute run to best buy in 2007, they said they had 11 Wiis left, we raced over to Best Buy and when we got there they only had three left. We bought it with Wii play. Great memories, sadley had to wait till Christmas to play.

    Despite It's lack of power basically being a slightly souped up Gamecube , Nintendo still had a true cultural phenomenon on their hands , *everyone* was trying to get a Wii all through 06/07.

      That’s awesome. I was about that age when the N64 came out. My parents kept saying over and over how many times it had been impossible to get one because they were all out of stock. I already had it in my mind that Christmas I wasn’t going to get one so I was okay with that. Of course the very last present my parents pulled out, the N64. I went nuts 😂

      Same here. Simpler and better times. I was so excited when I opened the present showing the Wii in the box brand new. I remember me and my sister playing with the Wii all the time. I remember playing Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and Mario Party 8. I miss my Wii everyday. I want a Time Machine so bad.

    I remember those shortages the first year. It was impossible to find a Wii in the wild for the 2006 holiday season. I finally saw a single new Wii sitting on the shelf at my small town Pamida store (R.I.P.) in October ‘07! Purchased on the spot!

  • @QuattroSG

    2007 was the beginning of a few years where gaming was absolutely on fire. Every holiday season there was more games that'd become classics than there was time to play them. This continued to about 2011-14 I'd say depending on who you ask. Halo 3 and CoD4 were awesome, skate as well. Spent so much time with those 3 as a teen.

      No doubt about it, it was almost like a second Golden age of gaming. Or third age. Every time you turned around there was some awesome game coming out that you just had to play, matter of fact if you're still playing games you'll know that we're basically still playing all of those same games now just souped up😂

    This was so cool to see. I pre ordered my Wii at GameStop. I still remember it clearly. They only got 7 or 8 Wii’s in and I was the “first” to put in my pre order. I say “first” because I was number 5 on the list meaning the first four taken up on the sheet must’ve been the employees. I went early morning with my dad to pick it up and there weren’t any lines. I got it, two games (including Zelda, of course) and an extra nunchuck controller for my baby sister and I to play. I remember it wasn’t too hard to get stuff on my side of town but with the population boom in South Texas the past two decades it’s been getting much harder for stuff like this to be in stock. And just people not understanding the meaning of Southern Hospitality apparently 😞
    Thanks for the nostalgic trip!! Your videos have been so awesome to watch I was happy to instantly subscribe😁
    Also, poor Xbox. Nobody is touching those 360’s😂. That was the first system I bought with my own money so it had more meaning to my ownership. Just like the Wii my parents actually loved the bowling and the Kinect. It was easy to not have anything in your hand and use your body as the controller.

    I know we look back at the Wii and laugh how cheap it was. Back then, the $250 launch price was the equivalent of $400 today. Not only that, but each controller was $39 back then ($62 today). Games for the Wii back then would be the equivalent of $94 in today's dollars. The Wii was revolutionary, the motion sensing was a game change for the industry. And the PS3 was $599 for the "good" model, which would be almost $1,000 today

I was hoping I'd get Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but that game got pushed back to March, so I ended up getting Super Mario Galaxy and WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2008.
    But I had lots of fun with it over the years with games like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, No More Heroes, MadWorld, The Conduit, the Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes fighting games, and so much more.

I don't really understand why exactly, I felt like I had to make a good enough excuse otherwise they wouldn't let me in. After they pointed each person to what they're there for though, you could walk wherever anyway so it was really weird. Haven't been back since
      Frys electronics closed down but talk about bad customer service! Unless you were elderly or looked rich, the employees would practically run away from you, dodging in and out of isles to make an escape. I had one dude tell me to please not price match an item that was $5 cheaper on Newegg, he said if people price match for any amount of savings, the employee loses all commission for that sale.

    5:49 She didn't wake up that day thinking she needed to go out and buy a Wii, she's going with the flow. She's just happy to be there.
    10:35 This is why the Wii was so popular, *_everybody_* was playing. The Switch has sold more, but I think that's because they put out so many different consoles. I've bought a Launch, A SE Sploon, and a SE TotK, My brother has also bought a couple of Special Editions as well as a Lite. I think the Switch is winding down now, but if they did release another Special Edition that I liked, my dumbass would probably buy another Switch.
    12:48 It's a shame that Nintendo has had the stigma of being "childish" for so long. They really are at the top of the mountain when it comes to quality, fun, and innovation.

    • @PowerSynopsis
      @PowerSynopsis ปีที่แล้ว

      @breadandcircuses8127 What a braindead comment that just proves what I said. Nintendo isn't just "childlike games". If you don't know what they have to offer that's your loss.

      @breadandcircuses8127 Listen lil bro, I'll be real with you. you're coming off like an 11 year old that's trying to sound cool.
      "hardcore gaming communities" lmfao
      There isn't a damn thing wrong with liking Nintendo but there is something real fucking cringe about thinking that because you play on PC that everybody else is below you. Or, that if someone plays Nintendo they haven't played anything else.
      Since you asked, I have a gaming PC, PS 1-5, PSP, Vita, NES, SNES, GBA, GC, Wii, Wii U, Switch, Genesis, Saturn, and a Dreamcast.
      I've been gaming for longer than you've been alive and I don't shit on other gamers unless they think they're too cool...like you're doing.
      Ah shit, had to come back and edit this because somehow I forgot one of my favorite consoles! I have a 3DS that I still play regularly too.

    • @PowerSynopsis
      @PowerSynopsis ปีที่แล้ว

      @breadandcircuses8127 I first got an NES controller in my hand in 1986.
      Picking a single console is tough.
      I really like the PS1 because of Silent Hill, FF7 and 8, and Grandia. PS2 for Grandia 2 and 3, Silent Hill 2, the Fatal Frame series, FF10 and 10-2, DOA2, and Persona 3 and 4, I do like Persona 4 Golden on the Vita better though. I like the 3DS because it was fun to take it around and get street passes. The Gamecube had Metroid Prime and Prime 2, Windwaker, and Animal Crossing, Resident Evil Remake and RE0, Paper Mario, Eternal Darkness. I loved the Wii U for Splatoon and the Miiverse. The Miiverse was the most wild community Nintendo ever cooked up. It was a shitpost heaven. It's hard to pick just one console. The PS5 has the potential to be great if they would only start making games specifically for it instead of just slightly upscaling PS4 games. I probably play my Switch the most right now though because Splatoon 3 is fun and I can just lay in bed with it and play just about anything else I want. It isn't region locked either so I can play JP games on it. That's nice because I like collecting physical and JP copies of VNs are almost always cheaper. As for my PC, I've been playing a lot of Lies of P but am probably going to start Like a Dragon Ishin soon even though I haven't Finished Yakuza 0 yet. I always have several different games going at once though instead of forcing myself to just play one start to finish.
      I guess my pfp could throw someone off. That's something else I've been into for a long time. When I was in HS you kept that shit to yourself or only talked about it among the other loser weebs unless you wanted to get made fun of. Now it's way more popular or at least more accepted. My last gf was hot, admittedly too young for me at 23, but she even openly had hentai stickers on her car and wore a little Sanrio plush keychain.

      @PowerSynopsis ปีที่แล้ว

      @breadandcircuses8127 I don't know if you've ever played Splatoon but it takes more skill than what a child is capable of to actually be good. I think most kids play Fortnite because it isn't as difficult.
      Paper Mario isn't just for kids. It is fun and entertaining. It's one of Nintendo's highest rated games, chosen by adult reviewers and game critics. It's praised across the board for it's game play.
      A lot of people still shit on the Wii U, but it was a good console with good games. Nobody gave it a fair chance.
      As for whether or not I'm a weeb...
      I look and act like a normal person, I don't do embarrassing shit in public, but I imagine you would probably think you're better than me.

      @breadandcircuses8127 The atmosphere. The gameplay was fresh and interesting when it came out. It can legitimately be scary even if some of that _is_ jump-scares; it still has an unsettling vibe. Trying to take a picture of a ghost at the perfect time with proper film when they are creeping around and you can only see them through the camera is just good horror.

    I remember getting the Nintendo Wii for Christmas in 2006. I was wanting the PlayStation 3 instead but they were all sold out and it made me mad. I didn't get a PlayStation 3 until a year later for Christmas in 2007. The only thing I didn't like about the Nintendo Wii was that you had to put new batteries in the controllers every time the batteries died. They didn't have rechargeable batteries.

    • @Avrazael
      @Avrazael ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why you get the Energizer rechargeable batteries with the adapter that charges them
