Consumer slaves who would have thought each PlayStation after was drip feeding g performance to justify the pro. Or limiting units at launch to push the great reset adigital on,y version which loses 75 percent value on resale plus faking ther own scalper terrorist culture to make more and limit realisation the ps5 is just a ssd

@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist5 the processes behind all phone apps that run without your control are called daemons!
      Installers called wizards
The cable was to link you to the ether
Electrical component and circuit symbols are the lesser key of solomons demons.
It's satanic from the ground up
The games are pushing the occult it's black magic vs black magic
Some force you to play tarot cards to progress in the game
      They are sin-ulators or sin-ulations

Obviously back then, only delivery was still new. Even when GTA Vice city was released, the idea of buying online and having a game posted was something very new to many. The first time I bought a game online and mainly went that way was second games like xbox or PS2, was on Amazon less than ten years after the PS2 launched. I bought a preowned PS4, so obviously that was online some years ago. But yes, PS2 was quite different, it was the change in how games were, and would be playable or some modes like online.

The difference is probably that only those people who were really in the know would know that a store is hosting a midnight release. Just like the first guy said, he found out about the launch from a gaming magazine. Nowadays there are too many ways to spread info out there, it's both a good and a bad thing. Personally I couldn't enjoy these days myself because I barely had any money. 😅

There was online, there was backwards compatibility, games didn't try to make you fork over as much money as possible, they didn't need day 1 patches, they didn't prolong the game by making it open world or whatever. Just connect the console, pop the disc in and it just works. It was super simple but it was the best.

There was an organic excitement there that's been killed by the modern marketing machine. Social media should have been a way to get people's takes on things, boots on the ground, grass roots style, but it has just turned into algorithmic manipulation so that guys in suits can try to control what you see and hear. The crisis in 2008 made clear that we were living in an unsustainable bubble, since then the inhabitants lots of Western countries have experienced a decline in their purchasing power. Combine that with the growing dominance of smartphone technology and the maturing of social media (and with that the collapse of the 'old internet'-a new model was found in which the users were the product) around the same time and it makes sense people prefer the previous era.

I WAS THERE !!!! At walmart at 4h00 am in line with 18 more persons, there we're only 40 consoles available on that day, and at 8h00 am there we're 150 people waiting in line and only the 40 first persons including myself got a ticket to get a console. It was awesome and i kept great memories of this day. Bought NHL and SSX. In fact if I remember correctly, they had 41 or 43 units in store. I knew because I went to the electronic section the evening before the launch and that's what the lady told me. So I woke up at 3h AM to go to a Walmart that was already full at 4h Am, then I travelled another 20 km to get to a 2nd Walmart in the suburbs and got in line at position 18. It was the first time we we're doing a line to get a console, lots of late people we're pissed. And when you got out of the store with your box, YOU RAN your ass off because all the pissed people we're still in the parking lot watching the lucky ones get out with their PS2. But it was all done respectfully.

I was 9 in 2000, I remember just the sheer hype and talk of the PS2 coming was absolutely everywhere. When it finally released here in the UK, honestly it was bigger than sporting and global events, it was that epic and amazing. The childhood we had back then was truly great.

I was 14 in middle school when PS2 released. So many fun memories playing on this console. It's weird because technology at this point in time, I feel wasn't consuming your soul. You sill went outside to play with friends, bmx ride, make trails, camp out, play sports, etc. I usually played video games at night, was outside during the day. No social media, No amazon, No instant this or instant that. Tech has evolved so much and made the world so much more efficient, but sooo much more toxic on a social / societal level.

It was awesome to have witnessed this world as a kid, but the side effect of that is I have this constant painful nostalgia and I know I can never cure it. I can never go back an experience it, the world before social media dominated everything. I'm glad I saw it, but I know what I'm missing and I don't think I'll ever feel better about society again.
