    I had a na miata and before i did any engine mods at all besides a intake and exhaust and coils i started drifting on dirt roads then graduated to wet pavement then to the road. People gave me so much shit for it but it was fantastic. Loved the shit out of it.

    Its almost like its a more modern ae86. Miata drifter tried an 86 and said they do feel somewhat similar. Also on the topic of street drifting, from experience yeah its very hard in a miata. The turns don't flow as well as on a track so you need to handbrake a lot and use power to start sliding vs inertia

    • @pop_pops_garage
      @pop_pops_garage  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      id killllll to drive a ae86, I'm a huge fan of late 80s Japanese cars and a ae has always been one of those cars id love to own or even drive realistically. my hand brake doesn't even work to be honest hahah i cant lock the back tires up with it at all.

      @@notsayingToyota can say it is, but realistically, the new 86 is it's own thing. Between the improved power, longer wheelbase, and it being designed as an enthusiasts car, it loses some of the shittier qualities that made the 86 beloved in the first place.

    No one should ever upgrade their clutch on a Miata na-nb. Your trans will never hold enough power to need it, and you just make the car more difficult to drive for no reason.

    • @BrokeitDale
      @BrokeitDale ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not true in the slightest. The clutch will slip when you turbo to the rods' limit of about 240ft/lbs, good chunk before the transmission dies

    Great video! Did you say you welded the diff? I'm also running an m edition na. It has 16" wheels, not sure how wide they are, but they are 205/45 500 treadwear. Any suggestions for 16" wheels? I haven't drifted it yet, only autocross. I wasn't planning to keep it. I was just going to run it while I finish my CRX, but I guess my friend isn't going to buy it, so I decided to learn to drift it. Would you suggest welding the diff or stick with the stock torsion?

    • @pop_pops_garage

      10/10 recommend finding the shortest ration diff you can get for a reasonable price and welding it. i wouldn't weld the torsion they are worth a decent chunk of money. also for drifting i really recommend a 195/45r15 for the rear

    I can definitely say that a hydro is only good for rain sessions. It foes kill your speed a ton otherwise. But we all know a miata gains like 300hp in the rain 😅. Although i am ready to ditch this damn torsen and get a welded instead. May be hitting you up soon for some knuckles if i decide yo not go with the destroy or die super knuckles. Currently 15x8+0 up front and waiting or the 10mm spacers to arrive. So dod super knuckles wont give me any issues with rubbing as long as the alignment is good

    • @pop_pops_garage
      @pop_pops_garage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      rad! im on some 15x7s up front with 2in spacers hahaha. ditching the torsen was one of the best things i did i think. a lot of people have luck with them but i never did!

    • @damarlo1
      @damarlo1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @pop_pops_garage I've noticed the torsen really likes to open up anytime i hit a bump or a tire gets any kind of loss of contact. Had a few wild snap backs due to it 🤣 BUT man, they are great for touge styled runs through the backroads/canyons. May keep the toren on hand and just swap out the rear end depending on the driving style im doing that week. Here in texas i do a ton of street drifting when it gets wet out, or if its dry i have 2 warehouses im allowed to play around at. But i also make some trips up to Minnesota and Wisconsin gor some backroads racing with some buddies of mine and also hit up a few spots in Missouri along the way. Heck i may have to save up and get a winters rear end just for quick swaps.
      As for the tires those 15x8+0 up front rub the front bumper and firewall when im on 205/50. Not sure if its just the brand of tires or not but instead of wasting money on testing fitments, I've just been running 195/45-15 federals up front for that extra clearance, and sending it with 5x7+35 wrapped in whatever 205/50-15s i can get my hands on. Figured the extra meat will give me a bit more contact patch for the rain days, and they seems to last a lil longer than any of the 195/45-15 I've ran in the rear. Still havent dialed out all the camber in the rear just yet either. Still relatively stock. Although i have been eyeballing st suspension 19mm rear sway bar recently. Im thinking it'll really help the car step out and hold it a bit longer. Currently just have rollbar, frame rail reinforcement, stock rear sway, no front sway, and on coils, and a rack spacer as of now 🤷 but she gets down! 😉

      In my personal opinion there’s no such thing as a cheap turbo kit. Also Miata’s don’t have strong transmissions or rears. Once your turbo a Miata it just spirals out of control.
