  • Especially as an adult, Bearded Dragons need to have greens in their diet. Many owners struggle with transitioning their Bearded Dragon to eat more greens as adults or at all. As someone who has struggled with the transition, here are my top 5 reasons why your Bearded Dragon doesn't eat their greens!

    ★About Professor Herp★
    I started getting into the reptile hobby in February of 2018. My first reptile was my Bearded Dragon - Maxine Pegasus (creator of duel monsters btw). Since then, I have added five Yellow Ackie Monitors (Asus, Dell, LG, and two unnamed babies), a Chacoan Black and White Tegu (Frappuccino), a Crested Gecko (Destin), and a Russian Tortoise (Tortellini). I also have a dog named Thrall (yes, from World of Warcraft) who is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix - aka a Chiweenie.
    My goal with this channel is to share my knowledge, experience and journey with other reptile/animal enthusiasts and become a better caretaker because of it. Hopefully I can learn a lot from the community through these videos.

    One way to make them eat greens is roll it up into a tube to make it look like a hornworm.

    I have a Juvenile Bearded Dragon 🐉 she is only like 2 months old. She won't eat any greens only crickets and roaches. I love her soo much and just want to make sure she is healthy. I have calcium with d3 and multivitamin and everything else is good but she will not eat veggies. I've even dipped live crickets in the water before she eats then to make sure she is getting water since she won't eat her veggies.

    Funny stuff! And all good info! Also with my beardies, I head to find which vegetable they really liked! It happened to be Kale from the garden! After that it was easier to transition from inverts!

    Very good tips! My girl gets dubias a couple days a week, a salad 4 days a week, and give her a "fasting" day. She's still a young adult and this has worked well for her so far, healthy body weight, lots of activity, and she always eats everything offered.

    My bearded dragon tends to get a bit backed up in the winter months because she hates pooping inside. All summer long she asks to be let out two or three days a week to do her business in the grass in the back yard. But come winter it's a no go. We've tried everything including a cat sized litter box filled with sod. Any ideas for getting her to go indoors?

    Hello, my new beardie won’t eat his greens or drinks water (only occasionally when we drop water on his head) do you know how I can solve this or do you have any idea why this could be happening? (we also got him 8 days ago, i don’t know if he’s just adjusting to new surroundings or)

    • @ProfessorHerp
      @ProfessorHerp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beardie's response more to moving water. I still offer a water bowl, but I spray my beardie on the face with light water for a drink. You may be over feeding the inverts. Could also definitely be adjusting still.

    Hi! My bearded dragon is 2 years old. He is very spoiled with being hand fed and we have gotten him in a bad habit of not wanting to eat too much on his own. He loves his insects and eats them without a problem. He just got over having coccidia (around 2 months ago) and is improving but still won’t touch his greens. He likes strawberry’s but anything green he just closes his eyes. He is kinda skinny and really lazy. Please help! We are desperate for tips.

    my bearded dragon goes a while without going to the bathroom but will still eat their bugs and i did try the keeping the salad where she could constantly see it but couldn't get her to like it and then it would dry out and the temperature seems fine she is very active likes to dig around doesn't always stay in one and i did minimize the insects and i even tried mixing in the worms in her salad limiting her kricket intake but i couldn't get her to eat it and there are some bearded dragons that live a good healthy life on only insects and i think she is one of those and i did offer veggies a lot when she was young to at the most she well share a straw berry with mom occasionally but not very often i did try moving the food in tweezers like a bug and i could get her to eat one or two small pieces but i couldn't get her to eat them as a part of ehr diet and now that she is about full grown i think i failed so im just focussing on letting her be a happy lizard

    Lol idk but my girl beardie loves her greens! However, she only eats it from my hands cuz she’s so spoiled! Yesterday I took her greens out the cage and she ran to my hand and started ferociously eating them only because I was holding her greens in my hand 😂 If I set them down she ignores them lol

    My beardie used to love his greens. He'd eat turnips greens, mustards, and collards. He never liked any other veggie though and I tried EVERY veggie that's safe for him. All of a sudden he just started turning his nose up to all of his greens :( I've tried everything. Hes always been spoilt and hand fed, but he wont even eat them when I bring them directly to his mouth.

      I have the same issue. Something I’ve been doing to make sure she even gets a bit of greens is I hold a worm in my hand and right when she opens her mouth to plunge at it with her tongue I slip kale or any other green I have at hand in front of the worm. Essentially tricking her to eat them. It is a bit tricky at first because eventually they do figure it out and it’s a waiting game of who gives in first. But I’ve done this the past 3 days and she’s been eating some greens. It’s a long process depending on how much greens you’re trying to get into them in that one sitting. Usually takes me half an hour. I put vegetables and even fruits as well into play so they get a variety until they decide to touch their salad in the bowl. Hopefully yours starts to eat their greens soon! You can even try bee pollen powder, haven’t tried it yet personally but I heard a lot of people use it to lure the beardie to the salad. ;) GOODLUCK!

      @@cringesh1t427 lolol, very tricky indeed, but you gotta go what ya gotta do ya know? The things people do for the health of their beardies is really heart warming ❤ Since my last post he started eating his greens again....I don't even have to hand feed them to him. He hates fruit though 🤣 so I'll try the bee pollen for that.
