Seems a bit late but really great to see folks taking a long hard look at the Corts. Cort builds fantastic guitars branded by all the big brands but some of the stuff they badged, like their Sunset series, is just incredible, nevermind the value paid. I have a Sunset II came with TV JONES filtertron style pickups, tone pro bridge and saddles, Grover tuners and a superb set neck with a kinda Gretsch flat fretboard that performs way above its pay grade. I'm blessed with a great collection of outstanding quality guitars and that Cort Sunset always gets a look in, just a delicious guitar to play. I think many have avoided Cort down to stigmas as a 3rd world budget guitar, I hope this video goes some mileage to balance the scales a bit and let an experienced opinion begin to define the brands instrument efforts. I doubt seriously Cort cares about becoming a household name, considering most every brand pitching international builds up around the $800-1500 are in fact built by Cor-tek. It's a perfect recipe to just concentrate on building a great guitar that most everyone can afford. Just an experienced Cort guitar owner's perspective.
The band Frost* is a fantastic prog rock band, whose guitarist John Mitchell (also from the band, Arena) has a number of Corts. They're his primary axe. Incredible tone in both bands.
Remember when Cort forced their workers to work with organic solvents with no protective equipment and an estimated 59% of them had diseases caused directly by the work? And then they formed a union and Cort sacked them all and moved their operations from Korea to Indonesia? Last year the workers got compensation and an apology. I'm curious whether or not their workers are still in the same conditions though.
Whole income went to Ibanez/PRS/Schecter/Jackson/Squier/Washburn/Chapman/Solar etc. They ordered those guitars 1/3 of a price... We should buy more Cort and make them profit :)
Got a Z42, what a beautiful beast. Also got the M520 with set-in neck, plays with ease, sounds huge. And I have 8 guitars, currently. Only love for Cort.
Glad you made a review on Cort guitars. They trully make awesome products. I've played the C5 ZBMH bass and I love the sound and playability of it, kind of mindblowing what you get for a budget price. After that I've been very interested in checking out a guitar of them.
Look, these Cort guitars are spectacular in addition to being the best cost benefit in the market! But I would like to see the face of people who speak ill of the brand when they discover that Cort manufactures their favorite guitars in the O.E.M. I particularly wish I had heard voice 2 and split.
I've had a Cort X-2 with the sculls and blood graphic. Great guitar for the value!! Shame that the neck got broken at the heal joint. Always wanted to buy a new one since.
The fishmans are like $300 bucks themselves. A actual ash top, locking tuners, 5 piece neck with purple heart. They are like $800. I would say it is a awsome deal for anyone looking for this type of guitar.
Yeah the top on that is beautiful & sounds good. Cort has always been a brand no one really reconizes thought they have ghost built instruments for many of the big brand names.
Really wish they kept their M Series guitars, I have an M600, set neck, mahogany body, flame maple top. I’ve loved it more than any PRS I’ve ever played
I have a Cort KMX1Q and it’s my go to. Gorgeous guitar, great quality. It came stock with the EMG HZ set but I might swap it eventually to a set of actives but don’t wanna jack up the gorgeous body
I bought this... my only complaint is that the Cort branded locking tuners feel really cheap.. time to order some Ratio locking tuners from GraphTech....
Cort was one of my first guitars I bought with my first job. It ended up getting traded later on but I played the heck out of the performer series. That was 91-92? Not bad.
I'm glad you're aiming some videos at the lower price guitars. I would like to see more of this, I know Glen Fricker does some great prices guitars and gear, but mixing it up between low price, mid and high would be lovely, not just the high end stuff. If you and Glen got together to do a chanel, I would be saying and FUCK YOU FLEN! haha
Apparently they make one of these with Etched Deep Violet finish that I would literally kill for, but I can't find it in the USA anywhere. Someone help me please!

Love the Cort love out there these days. I mean, even without the Cort label, they’ve made like 1/8th of the manufactured instruments on the market. Good enough for Jeff Berlin, right?!

@@KeepTheGates I have 2 Corts, all of them off Ebay for what I consider a steal considering they are loaded with EMGs and rival my $800 Schecters. I think most Americans look at Cort as just another Far East Guitar manufacturer. If people learn how good these really are I am going to have to fight for em. Especially now they have a Fishman model. Its way easier to get a steal on Ebay when nobody knows what they are bidding on. BTW if anybody out there is looking to experiment in the active pickup world, an EMG loaded Cort kx300 can be found sub $500 from the factory on Ebay. Amazing deal in my opinion. The open pore finish is cool too...

Why does it seem like this guitar has a weird midrange? I’m definitely more of a passive, medium output kinda guy, but I’m very familiar with the sounds of various active pickups, and those Fishmans sound much gruntier in the high mids than normal, it’s weird. I assume it’s probably the guitars construction adding the frequencies, since fishmans are super consistent for the most part.

Cant find reviews for this damn thing anywhere
I wouldn’t mind having one and painting the top seafoam and sanding the back down to make it a lighter color. And gold hardware.
Loved the opening riff...
Can you make a review of the KX700?
Cort bass maybe soon?
Have you ever demonstrated the 7 string version??

Both are different man. Scale difference is there esp will great for lead. This will be mainly for riffs.
