    Pearl Jam "Once" "In my Tree" "Release" "Animal" "In Hiding" "Given to Fly" "Go" are some good Pearl Jam to react to!

      funny enough they sort of based the guitar off of little wing! i assume yk that since you referred the song but in case you didn’t there’s some more knowledge 👍

    All well said. For such heavy grunge, rock, whatever, they could always get me in my feelings one way or other.

    I was about 14 when Pearl jam played on MTV UK for the first time, and it was actually a friend’s mother who seen them, while we were all at school and recorded the video for us to see later, she loved it and new we all would too, and she was right, been a fan for 30 years now. Might I add my friends mum was in her late 40s at the time and had an awesome taste in music. Thank you Letty and thank you Pearl jam and you chod for doing this song. Love it 😊👏

    The song is essentially an anti war anthem. Eddie wrote it about his friends brother who was killed during the gulf war and the letter that came informing the family of his death. Very deep and emotional

      Also Eddie's friend was into the Goth stuff, as he is walking he sees an old couple sitting on their front porch and they had an American flag flying, he waved at them but they don't wave back...They just judged the kid by the way he looked. They had know idea why this kid waved at them. The kid waved because he felt for the first time he understood what the flag meant!!!

    The guitar in this is 🔥 Eddie could be saying anything in the song, and it would be emotional 😊 Garden and Given to Fly are fabulous as well.

    This song is legit, like so many “grunge” era songs. Not just the music, the vocal talent was on another level.

    I just gotta say, this wouldn't have been possible without the great people at Movie Maker, Grease Monkey, and Johny Roamer car shop at 454 Lincoln avenue in richmond, virginia. No but seriously, the ending credits make it even better, a thing of another time, something we will never see again. Thanking youtube, gotta love it.

    Pearl Jam is more my kids music era but I like some of their music. This song is in my library of songs to play.
    Suggest music from my time,
    Triumph, "Magic Power", " Blinding Light Show/ Moonflower" or Trapeze. "Black Cloud", " Midnight Flyer".

    The very first time I heard this song and listened to the guitar intro. I swore I was listening to Jimi Hendrix playing. I understand that people may not agree with me, but that was the vibe I got.

    Thank You for putting up the LYRICS. That helps a lot. Eddie Jerome Vedder has an exceptional voice, but I find it hard to understand all the words to many Pearl Jam's songs. So, YES, LYRICS help.

  • @Johnny_Socko

    PJ fans correct me if I'm wrong, but this song was never on an album and was never released as a single. It was a B-side to another song, but radio programmers picked it up and started playing it, and that's how it became one of their more well-known songs. (If I had to guess why the record company didn't offer it as a single, it would be because the lyrics are so slurred -- even for Eddie.)

    • @raeann63
      @raeann63 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yes, it was the b-side of "evenflow", but the japanese import single only.

    • @babylonkid
      @babylonkid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's actually on the Jeremy import single along with "Footsteps" which is as amazing as YLB.

    There really are no lyrics to this song. Eddie is just riffing in the studio but they loved Mike's (lead guitar) music so they put it on a B-side of a single, and if you're at a show, that's one of their main closers and Eddie can sing whatever he wants for wherever they are. No one knows the words, but it's such a favorite for all the fans! ❤️

    I never saw the words and I never understood 90% of what he said and I actually think it's better that way. Without understanding the words you get the sense that his voice is another instrument, a beautiful emotional instrument. And the song is better that way
