Really easy installation as I have found. The hard part was just prying out the console pieces. Thanks, Trail Grid Pro. Works perfectly and now I don't have to have someone go out and spot me. I left the lines on. All I did was cut the the white wire because it was mirrored horizontally. Mine came fully assembled and soldered so all I did was just unplug from the stereo system and wire it all the way through the firewall and organize my wires.
Hello I also have a 2021 tundra, once i installed the harnesses it killed my remote start it only works for less than a minute then turns off, does your remote start work alongside the front anytime camera with no issues?
I just want to throw my thumbs up into the ring. I have a new 2021 Tacoma Off Road and this is one of the mods I wanted to get into the truck. I have been watching vidio after vidio on installing this system and have found myself scratching my head more times than not. Your approach of simply laying out everything completely broken down finally did the trick for me. My Kit had the RCA yellow plugs separated and two had black marks coming from the Relay. I also had harnesses that had pin counts not matching any other video. Last but not least I have contacted the company and was waiting for a call back. ( I'm sure they will get back to me, they did on my first call ) Finally I got tired of waiting and took the plunge with the help of your vidio I got the system installed and working. Although this is not that difficult to install, knowing what goes where and having the confidence to start ripping (gently removing) truck body components makes all the difference. Again thank you for your time and patience in producing this tutorial.
Thanks for a great video. I just ordered the camera kit for a 2021 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition. When you cut the white and purple front wires to cancel the mirroring, did you switch the connection and hook the purple to the white and vice versa, or just cut them and be done with that? Thanks
I recently bought a bundle with the 11” screen that included this camera for my 2018 1794. However my harness for this camera already came assembled. I noticed that the black and red wire you mention at the first rca connection was already fused together to a ring terminal connector . You mention that the red wire is not to be used, so I’m a little confused why my harness came with that black and red connected together. If you can please explain. Also I was told recently that I didn’t have to use the toggle switch if I don’t have a dummy switch to install the toggle switch. I can use an icon on the screen to toggle between front and back? I was told I can connect the camera directly to the head unit, but they didn’t mention with or without the harness.

@@furnituremattressdeals9421 I had no issues what so ever. the front facing camera works as advertised, PERFECTLY. I have both keyfob remote start and Cellphone Toyota app remote start. I used it this morning to assist in parking the truck close to the car in front of me in the parking lot at work. I did choose to get the premade cable, rather than build it myself. if you built the cable yourself, I would go back and check to see that it was correctly made. also, the phone app is by subscription, but the Keyfob remote start works all the time. not sure why you are having these issues, but if it was me, I would closely check the wiring first. I just bought a 2021 TRDPro Tundra and I have this switch. I thought this was a factory switch and I've been scouring the owners manual to find it! I guess this is an aftermarket part and I never knew it. My switch is in the exact same spot and so is my camera. Did I just buy the same truck in the video?? Mine is white also. At any rate, my front camera doesn't work all the time, so I was trying to figure out why. Sometimes when I switch it to front, there is no picture, its just black. Sometimes it works just fine. Any ideas? I've only had this truck for a week...
Ah, so glad your figured it out though!! So, it could be that your front camera ground is weak. I'd try to reseat your front camera ground and see if that does the trick!
Great video despite the 90 degree heat! Nice voice, did everything patiently. For those that have never done this install before, wouldn't it be better to make a few checks of the wiring? Just my two cents. I now need to see if I can add side cameras to rear L&R.
Great video! I've been wanting a solution like this for my '21 TRD Pro to help see what's ahead when I'm off-roading! Quick question: If you're listening to music, does it cut the music when you switch to either of the camera views on the switch?
Hello I also have the same model and year, once i installed the harnesses it killed my remote start it only works for less than a minute then turns off, does your remote start work alongside the front anytime camera with no issues?
This looks like a great product. Im wanting to use this to operate a rv camera instead of a front camera or possibly use a front camera and use the anytime function for an auxiliary rear camera instead of a factory camera
hey i just bought this in december and had a shop install it but it only lights up blue it doesn't show any cameras when i flip the switch any idea what happen
Quick question, if you have the front facing camera view on, does it go into reverse camera when you back up? Or do you have to put the switch in the middle for the reverse camera to work?
Great question. Yep, putting your vehicle in reverse always trumps any view. So, as you mentioned … if you have the front camera on and you put your vehicle in reverse, it will show your reverse camera until you move out of reverse.
@@TrailGridPro Hi! I just installed my camera kit I bought from Running 4 Tacos and everything works fine except when I back up in reverse. The camera does not revert to the back camera view. I have to manually switch the camera to the middle to get it to work. I have a 2020 Manual Transmission Tacoma so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. No biggie though, I just love having to be able to see what's in front of me during the times that I need to.
@@chrisguapo69 Ah, are you saying that when you’re using the front camera and you go in reverse, it doesn’t change to back-up? I would imagine this is happening because of your manual transmission but I’ll dig around to confirm. I would assume your manual transmission is a analog signal that’s not overriding the digital signal being send when you are viewing the front camera.
@@TrailGridPro yes. It does not go to reverse if I keep the front camera on. I have to manually switch the camera to the middle. The front camera stays on even when I put the truck in reverse.
I’m curious why you don’t just use the nipple in the firewall grommet. Isn’t that what it’s there for? I would also think just leaving that relay laying free in the dash is begging for a rattle. I could be wrong. I’m installing mine this weekend, hopefully and notice you’re shipping a different camera now.
