Brought my first egg a few days ago and decided i needed a table, had looked at other videos and most seemed to complicated or expensive. Then i hit yours and it all fell into place. Awesome job and video. Liked and subscribed
Just bougt the egg and already had the ikea table. This was in my mind to do and look I found this video. Thanks soo much. I can not wait till we are ready to grill 😁. Greetings from Amsterdam
Dude, that is awesome... I bought the the exact same little kamado on clearance from Wally World a while back as a my old Akorn Jr. is going to rust out at some point. A great little Kamado on it's own by the way for the dollars. Little sucker is so heavy, I don't want to pick it up and drop it. I wanted a table with casters built for my birthday and fathers day, but can't get any of three fully capable sons with reasonable tools available to do so. Thanks so much, I'm getting on IKEA right now. Best...
Yes! Man, for the price, the ikea table can’t be beat. I only wish I could have a side table but I have no complaints. Yeah for the size - I wouldn’t move that thing by myself. Hahaha!
@@budgetdadbbqbrewing268 I tried moving that heavy little sucker but I'm a mid 50's dude that doesn't need back problems so it's been sitting for while. If I don't get the Akorn Jr. wet it'll go another year or three, so I'm in good cooking shape. I got a good price from Wally World and added it to the collection (10, yes, sad but true, but they're all different)... Mini is very awkward to pick up. Now you've started a trend and I can't find them in stock near me, my kid lives like 8 minutes from the Sacramento store, trying to avoid $22 in shipping,
@@LutherKrank agreed, this thing although small, weighs a ton! It’s typically a 2 person job with my wife and even after our backs are feeling it. Nothing wrong with having a solid BBQ collection! I find I use them for all different purposes. Save yourself some shipping and make the drive to Sac! (:
Thanks for your views & tips on this mini Kamado, looking for one for same reasons as yourself, unfortunately here in the UK, this little fellow not much cheaper than a Kamado Joe Jr. But very much liking your DIY cart, will defiantly be looking further into this regardless of which grill we opt for.
Thanks for the feedback! Agreed, for the same price I would definitely get the KJ Junior or another reliable brand. I’ll be making a project update video soon.
And I have likely the same Vision big ol' Kamado as well, just noticed. Great cheap minds think alike, enjoy, I'm doing a smoked chuck roast tomorrow in the Akorn Jr. Shorter and sometimes cheaper than brisket, we'll see. Best from hot central California...
You should really get some compensation from IKEA! I just ordered that table and it’s on back order for a month! I’m sure you guys had something to do with that! IKEA never runs out of anything so congratulations!
Now that sounds amazing! Been thinking about kebabs for some time. I’d be curious how I could do naan on the kamado. I’m going to have to look in to this! Thanks @abansalify! 👍😎
@@budgetdadbbqbrewing268 made same tandoori style chicken and tandoori naan. Use a clay saucer from home depot for the flavor and texture (you have to season the saucer with oil). Put clarified butter or ghee once naan is done for real flavor. Serve it with pickled onions and mint cilantro chutney.
Thanks for the question! I’ve had no problems at all and have done plenty of cooks so far. Typically, it’s the bottom of the kamado that people get worried about if it sits directly on wood.
Great idea! A couple questions- How is the table holding up? I see you use it under a covered patio, do you think it will be happy living on a deck in upstate NY? No garage/shed for storage. Thanks! Barb
Thanks so much! Unfortunately, the top of my table recently split, so not sure if it was the weather or just the cheap IKEA wood that caused the split. It’s still totally functional with no issues. My recommendation would be to seal it up really well and cover it during the winters even under the patio to avoid the elements. Those winters are pretty rough back east! (:
Hello Ruth! Nice! The mini kamado is well over 30kg so I believe it could carry the weight. I would just make sure to add reinforcements to the shelves. I believe I included the hardware links in the description. Let me know how it goes!
This is a top notch aesthetic grill setup! How do you empty the grill though if its so heavy and so high on the table now? I want this setup for an apartment patio but am not sure if I can justify it because I dont know how difficult cleanout will be. Thanks
Thanks Christos! Cleanup is really easy. I just take out the fire bowl, open up the bottom vent, and push out the ashes. I usually use a small compost bag, but you can use a box, bag, or whatever you want to collect the ashes. Thanks for the support and let me know how it goes!
Hey Jeremy, stand looks great. Did you have to reinforce the table top or the middle shelf to take the weight of the grill and is the existing stand just resting on that pizza stone or is it attached some way?
Thanks Keith! Yes, I reinforced the shelves with 1.5in L-Brackets from the bottom I believe. So far so good and it’s holding up well. The stand sits on a pizza stone that is free floating on the middle shelf.
That looks great! We're going to do this as well. I may have to figure out how to add a collapsible shelf on one side. When you reinforced the middle shelf, other than purchasing the L-brackets, did you use the screws that came with the cart or did you purchase different screws along with the brackets? Again, really nice job.
Much appreciated, CD! I picked up a 4 pack of stainless 1.5in L brackets at Home Depot that came with screws which I used. I drilled pilot holes first and they worked perfectly. I also just ordered these from Amazon to make the side table but haven’t started on that yet: Folding Shelf Brackets 8 Inch, Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Collapsible L Angle Wall Mounted Brackets, DIY Shelves for Table Work Bench Max Load 110lb, Pack of 2 with Install Screws www.amazon.com/dp/B07V7TFK16/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_uLG9Fb2TR9RWQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks again for the support and let me know how it goes! That’s awesome! Happy BBQing and let us know how it goes! Happy I could help. (:
This was an awesome idea. Thank you so much. I'm building 4 of these as we speak right now as a result. Komodo Joe Jr's... Let's see how it goes!
Sweet! That’s what I’m talking about! Let me know how it goes!
Great job Jeremy don't beat yourself up! It's all about the grilling any way.😉
No doubt, it always a learning experience!

Wish I could post a photo of what I made using your video!!! It was so helpful, thanks from Canada 🇨🇦.
That’s awesome!! So happy the video helped. Makes it all worth it for sure. Hope the table makes your life a little easier and happy BBQing! (:

Thanks KC! Appreciate the support!
My hands are twitching now to do the same for my kamado joe Jr.
All can be done in one day. Don’t fight the feeling. Hahaha!
@@budgetdadbbqbrewing268 have you tried making pita or naan bread on this to go along with some juicy kebabs?

Nice job!
Right on! Thanks ST!

Mate, did you stop posting new videos? We like the content.
How does the wood/table hold up to the heat from the grill?

Does the ceramic not get too hot for the wood?
Awsome job.
Thanks so much!!
Of course. A perfect solution for my Joe Jr. and the Ikea cart is not available in any store nor online :-(
Arg! That’s a bummer!
Thanks for the support David!
Do you think this can carry 30kg/66lbs. Planning to put a pizza oven on top.
