  • The Dewalt DWS 780 sliding compound miter saw is a beast that is packed full of features. In this video I discuss why I upgraded to the DWS 780 , the features on this particular saw and my initial thoughts on it . Some features I still have yet to figure out how to use .Towards the end of the video I take it for a test run and cut a few pieces of door trim for the door I just installed in the shop. For years I've used my grandpas old makita chop saw that has no blade guard and is highly dangerous! Over the years Ive just gotten accustomed to using it, do to the fact money is hard to come by these days , just getting by has been a simple fact of life. No, using a saw without a blade guard is not fun and its actually quite terrifying and I wouldn't recommend it . The old timers had an odd habit of doing away with guards and safety measures that come on most tools from the factory . Having the macho feeling as a young man has faded and I yearn to be more safe and cautious the older I get . Keeping all my fingers, toes, and eyes is very high priority to me! Although it is not necessary to match the tool brands in your shop , I do feel its kind of a cool thing to do if that's something your into. I really like dewalt tools and am slowly converting my tools all over to dewalt as my old tools wear out . The dewalt dws 780 is a big huge monster of a miter saw and I will definitely need to really think about its permanent location in the shop due to its size. This saw is huge and may not be for everybody but if you have room and a need this is an excellent option that is packed full of features such as .

    "He could build anything in his mind...I'm nowhere near that." 🤣
    I feel like that describes most of us talking about our fathers and grandfathers. We spent too much time playing videogames and watching TV when we were young instead of learning to be handy.

    Thanks for the informative video, I'll be setting mine up tomorrow! The shadow line looks so nice to have, plus if you don't have a crazy amount of light in your shop or by the saw this really helps with that.

      Hey thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ! 😀 the more i use this saw the more i love it! The light and shadow guide is awesome. And it gives you an exact representation of the width of the blade !

    After 2 years, how has the saw held up? Any tips and advice?

    • @fakeitormakeit83

      @3rn3strom3r I have had really good luck with this saw. The main thing I found was keeping the saw clean . And remembering to turn the light off every day. But all in all thr only thing ive replaced is the blade . Great saw , dust collection needs some tweaking but it works great for me

    Salve una domanda; la base rotante è in linea con gli appoggi laterali o vi è un gradino che ne pregiudica la precisione? Grazie

    Good job on your video. I have some questions please. Which type DWS780 do you have type 22, type 23? It will say on the label on the motor. Now that you’ve had it a while have you encountered any problems or annoyances with the saw? The description I see is that it comes with a 5/8” arbor for the saw blade. Did your saw come with an adapter that allows to install a 1 inch arbor saw blade? Thank you in advance for your answers. I’m ready to pull the trigger on buying this saw but I want to hear what you have to say about it.

      First of all thank you so much for taking time to watch my video and comment ! So as far as the type i believe it is a type 23 but i will confirm once i get home and report back to you with that info this evening 😉. Since ive had the saw i have really enjoyed the power and accuracy of this beast . Combined with the new cut line technology this is the best saw ive owned . The only complaint i have is that the dust port /pipe on the rear seems to be an odd size for any of my dust collection hoses . It is i suppose ideally meant to leave the factory dust collection bag on it but when i build my new miter station i will address this issue with some slight modifications to make dust collection hook up alot easier . And the only other thing i will say is if you plan on using this to carry around to job sites, make sure you do some warm up exercises cause this thing is pretty heavy lol. There was no 1inch arbor adapter included in this model . Overall though i think its a great saw , although i believe there are some really nice alternatives that cost less . But you really cant go wrong with this beast !

      @@fakeitormakeit83 Thank you very much. What I don’t understand is on Dewalt’s web site for the type 23 DWS780 documentation it says there’s an adapter that provides the ability to use a saw blade with a 1” arbor hole.

    • @fakeitormakeit83
      @fakeitormakeit83  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankschimpf3212 now it may be a built in feature of the arbor? ie your remove the arbor washer or somthing to that effect 🤔

    We have a coworker that got a nasty wound on his forearm from using a chop saw without a guard. He also used a ladder he found on the side of the road in the trash and it folded up when he was half way up.

      Thanks for checking out the video and taking time to comment! And wow thats rough! Complacency is one of the most dangerous things in this world . And i have been guilty so many times for using tools that were damaged and had missing safety measures , when i think about it wonder how ive made it this far without serious injury! The older i get the more careful i get for sure!

      From a quick look at the saw it says on the tag on the motor that it was made in Taiwan. Hope this helps!
