I love this videos because I'm an Spanish speaker so I can learn Italian and at the same time improve my listening in english btw my name is Valentina 🤗
Benvenuta Valentina!! (*welcome) I'm glad they are so helpful to you! I didn't know Valentina was used in Spanish speaking countries too. Is it common there? In Italy is very common, we have lots of Valentine :D
When I was taking Spanish in college, an Italian student thought he would easily pass but he actually failed because he frequently used the Italian words instead of Spanish. I think the similarities proved to be confusing to him.
You are doing a great job. We need full course from beginning to advance and you are only one who is making such good informative vedios about italian language. Love from India.
Grazie mille, Aman! I'll definitely work on that at some point. Meanwhile, I do have a course for beginners, which follows the exact same curriculum I use in person with my tutoring students. It includes listening to selected Italian songs, video lessons on grammar and pronunciation, and interactive exercises to practice all you learn immediately. Here's the link: www.valentinastellatutor.com/how-to-enroll-in-the-italian-course-101/ Buona giornata!
Just a comment regarding the alphabet, I am a native Spanish speaker, I was thinking in Spagniolo but was surprised with the non Latin based pronunciations that went from greek ( Y ipsilon, K kappa), english sounding (like P, B, D, G., E)... Found this interesting.... Just want to say you are marvelous Valentina, bravissima!
Very interesting and important video Valentina. With your assistance, focusing on my own pronunciation allowed me to work through words like l'aria, l'area, and l'aereo. Grazie!
I literally felt every pronounciation exactly the right way. My native language is russian, and besides english I speak some turk languages and a bit of chinese.
Hello Madam I am senior studnet in University (student of BBA). I have a plan that get my MBA from Italy becuse of that I started learning Italian. I like 👍 what you are doing here, i just saw this video now at 17: 00. I'm new in italy, please, I want to learn about the house and names of properties in a house like a bed, widows, floor, bathroom, parlor, guest room, etc thank you.
I'm Brazilian, I speak Portuguese so it turns out that the pronunciation for me is not so difficult because they are sounds that have in the portuguese too😅💞 Thank you so much!!
I'm thinking of making a video about spelling PROPER names in Italian, as this can be really helpful e.g. when traveling to Italy. If you leave me YOUR NAME in a comment below, I'll include it in my upcoming video and show you how to spell it! So don't forget to WRITE YOUR NAME (first + last) BELOW! 👇
@@ItalianTeacherValentina Grazie, grazie for your answer!! My name means joy(χαρά) in Greek and the first syllable 'should' sound like 'ha' in ha-t! I want to visit Italy 🇮🇹 ,we are neighbors as countries! 😊
For foreign names, nowadays we try to pronounce them like in their language, but as for spelling them, you can watch my dedicated video 😉: th-cam.com/video/mbqBIkncf_A/w-d-xo.html
Grazie, Valentina, questo video è stato molto utile. Sto cercando di usarlo quando pronuncia parole lunghe (come naufragavano, spedizionieri, singhiozzando, ecc.). Finora non ho avuto successo. Ma continuerò, grazie a te. Aspetto il tuo prossimo video.
it's abit easy for me since spain colonized Philippines for 300 years and we somehow manage to have some of their words and accent in our language lolll
I noticed that too! We also have a lot of Spanish derived words in Southern Italian dialects (like Sicilian, and I am Sicilian) because we also had Spanish domination.
Hello dear lady I hope you are healthy. Excuse me, ma'am, I wanted to ask this: God willing, I am going to come to Italy two months later, I am not fluent in Italian at all and I have no wind. Is it possible for me to understand my Italian language only during these two months?!? Please and please, I ask you for help in this section !!
Yes, "euro" is terribly difficult for native English speakers. I will make a video on money at some point. Meanwhile, you can watch this video where I explain how to tackle vowels in Italian pronunciation (the consecutive vowels in "euro" and the difference in how we handle them between Italian and English is what makes it so hard): th-cam.com/video/AzPBS9Pzays/w-d-xo.html
We would try to pronounce it as similarly as possible as you pronounce it. But if you want to know how to spell it, here's my dedicated video: th-cam.com/video/mbqBIkncf_A/w-d-xo.html
Ciao e benvenuto! *welcome How many days really depends on how much time you can devote to it and your personal background (if it's not the first foreign language you learn, it tends to be easier because you already went through the same process). As for how to learn properly, I'm definetely going to make a video at some point, but here are my recommendations based on my years of teaching. I always recommend starting with pronunciation, as it helps tremendously with memorizing words and listening skills. If you just memorize lists of words without the correct pronunciation, your brain will store them with a different pronunciation, and even if you remember the meaning, your ear won't be able to recognize them when spoken by native Italians. So, learn the correct Italian pronunciation as soon as you can, it will help all other skills. Then some grammar, you definetely need it to start structuring sentences and using the vocabulary you learn. But do not jump into all the Italian verb conjugation, that's only going to confuse you. Start with studying the most used ones (like present tense and past tense) and stick to them until you master them. Other concepts (e.g. gender of nouns) are way more important than verb tenses at this point. Listening and vocabulary are also important from the beginning, but use tools that are not too complex at the beginning. For example, I use songs for bulding listening and vocabulary skills, as they are usually shorter, so you can listen to them multiple times (repetition is key!) even on a busy schedule, and the vocabulary is real Italian that we use in everyday life. That's all I have considered when developing my own curriculum that involves listening, vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar, all in small, doable units that are easy to digest and assimilate. It's the one that I've been using with my students, so I can testify this approach works wonders. So keep all this in mind when choosing your materials. If you would like something like this that's already organized, I have also developed the online course version of my tutoring lessons, which follows the exact same curriculum I use in person with my tutorning students. It includes listening to selected Italian songs, video lessons on grammar and pronunciation, and interactive exercises to practice all you learn immediately.
