Btw. the ‚scientist‘ s name is Benji and he also loves to play gypsy swing. The ‚viking‘ guitarist is Matt. Dan is the drummer, Martino plays the bass (He‘s only been with NeO since November 2017). Tim and Xen are a bit like Lady Sunshine and Mr. Moon, though I like your description of Xen as ‚dark and angelic‘ better.

Ne obliviscaris toured with Allegaeon. Both phenomenal bands. React to Allegaeon: Proponent for sentience III the Extermination or try Grey matter mechanics. Try anything. But react sometime to them. Please.

I saw NeO with Wintersun, Dark Tranquility, and Amorphis among others last night at the Rock and Shock Festival in Worcester, MA: Greatest night of my life! These guys are just as good live as in studio and it is truly incredible to witness! Love you guys so much and I'm so happy you got to hear this song!

I think Vin is a secret proggy. He likes Vektor and Ne Obliviscaris, clearly doesn't hate prog. He just needs to hear the first 2 Opeth albums (which are distinctly different than the Opeth he keeps calling boring), Edge Of Sanity, Alkaloid, Obscura, Voyager, etc. to cement his love for progressive music. He also seems to enjoy the black metal bands that have a slight prog-leaning as opposed to the more raw straight forward black metal. I'm just saying I think Vin is a fellow proggy at heart and just doesn't know it.

While I do find some of AJJ's stuff to be pretty funny, I think Big Bird is one of the top 3 most deadly serious and gut wrenching songs ever recorded. Straight up sounds like someone is having a midlife crisis and falling apart into a microphone while a band can barely stay composed around him. I'd say it's more intense than most of the metal suggestions.
They need to listen to Akercocke and Voices too. Have some interesting albums especially Voices-London and Akercocke Axiom. Though I don't know if they'll like them lyrically because of the explicit sexual themes which I personally don't care much for since I'm all about the atmosphere and sound while they are generally more interested in the lyrical content.
This is sick. I'm blown away. The violins took it to another level. The guy on skins was hell. Prog is the direction I'm going and this is very inspiring. This is prog metal that everybody can appreciates. And yes Vin if there is a such thing as angels they're black bruh. ;)

Vinand Sori, I guarantee you that you are going to enjoy and love the show. I saw them live in Chicago and was the best show so far. Also Wintersun was bad ass.

These guys have prog, but it is never overdone or wanky. It is a testament to the sheer virtuosity of these guys. Two bands I would love to see get their due are these guys and Jinjer, different styles but both have amazing musicality, and lyricism. NeO seems to be pushing it's way to my favourite band of the moment, they knock it out off the park every time.

Hello there. You should give a try to Bolt Thrower . They are an Oldschool underground Death metal Band that has the most headbanging riffs ull ever imagine. Try sixth chapter , the killchain, cenotaph,mercenery,powder burns, no guts no glory . Love ur vids keep em coming big homies :p

Vin, there ARE prog-metal bands out there that don't 'show-off', they are about the song and not about their musical prowess. Bands like Fates Warning (been around for 35+ years), Threshold, Teramaze, Savatage (now called Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Riverside, Vanden Plas, etc.

Each song is a circle of hell based on Dante's Inferno/The Divine Comedy and a warrior's journey to reach Lucifer and slay him. It's Technical Death Metal and probably my favorite album of all time so I'd love you guys to check it out.
Trent Reznor should be on the list of amazing lyricists. You just happen to hear the more mainstream songs of him but there are incredibly deep songs of him.

its a 3 string tapping pattern! And its very tasty. There is a similar pattern at the climax of Painters of the Tempest as well, they actually did a music video for that section called "Curator"

Sadly the bassist that wrote this, is no longer with them. However the new bassist is a really amazing musician as well, who stepped into all kinds of music styles.
As for the song this is a quote from Xen.
