- In this video I crafted a proper full-grain leather dress belt to replace a cheap one in my wardrobe that would better pair with the Allen Edmonds that I recently restored. There were a couple instances where I could have done things better, but it all worked out in the end!

You are a Blessing. Thanks for sharing.
Love your set up!
I agree with your Canada mug comment. I tried using my Marine Corps mug and it just left crayon wax all over the edge. 😂
Great job. I always wondered how dress belts achieved that raised center! Lol. Thank you for a very informative video.
I like the buckle too.
Ficou muito bom, belo cinto
nice clean job
I like how you explain why you do things such as the dying process.
I am having trouble finding the black tape stuff you are using. All I find in Dacron is fuzzy felt stuff.
Can you help please?
I have wanted to learn to make these for ages.
I've pinned a comment to the top with a link to what I used. Hope it helps!
I get my poly lining from MADEONJUPITER, is listed as a wallet liner
Lovely belt. Great video. But could you please write in here the neme of the thin, non stretch layer you usedin the belt? Thank you. ☺️
I've pinned a comment to the top with the material I used. Hope that helps!
@@Tim_Parsell Thank you! 🙂
Another way to ensure you get full coverage with the dye is to dip the entire strap in the dye.
Great tutorial! Where did you get the dacron?
Thank you for the kind words, was there a part you found particularly useful? You can get the dacron at rmleathersupply.com, search for Velodon!
@@Tim_Parsell I've made a few belts with full grain 9-10oz but wanted a new dress belt. I liked the dacron insert to reduce stretch. It also lets me use lighter leather which I think gives it a more refined look. And thanks for the link. New suppliers are always welcome.
@@Tim_ParsellHowdy,am your big fan ! I usually work on projects like Western belts with 3 pc buckle set .Will u make a video on raised belt but tapered to fit 1 Inch buckle ? I do have some idea but it would be better learn from a pro like you
@@Tim_Parsellhowdy, can we do the same with a tapered belt? Also what is the total thickness of the belt
@mohammedabbas8639 I think it would work on a tapered belt. I would make the insert the finished length of the belt and simply laminate it in thinner leather. Just make sure you make the insert narrow enough to clear your buckle with the extra layers added!
This belt is two layers of 2/3oz and the insert is 5/6oz, so about the equivalent of 9/10oz and 3/16".
well done!! only suggestion. shorten the stitch length.
When you said, “Genuine Leather”, is not real leather, what would it be then? Genuinely curious
Genuine leather is essentially ground up leather bits held together with a binding agent like a latex glue. On the outer surface is then attached a paper thin piece of leather like a veneer which is smoothed and/or embossed to make it look uniform.
For anyone familiar with laying carpet, genuine leather is like the ground up foam junk you put down first! 😂
Ok, that makes sense. In Europe, Italy, we just say, “Vera Pella” which means it’s real or not. The USA term confused me. Our belts in Italy are from multiple sources, especially Sheep. Thank you for the explanation.
@@rickbrio9485 thank you for sharing, I learned something new as well! Over here, vera pelle/real leather is what we would normally call "full grain" leather. All not vera pelle is broadly genuine leather.

Канешн это треш... Кусочками клеить на полосу ленту... А что одной длинны ленту уже не найти? В общем видео о том как делать не надо.
