    The EU's concern is not deforestation but rather the protection of its olive oil and rape seed oil markets. That is also the reason why it spawned the story about palm oil being "unhealthy." And continues to do so. They are certainly not interested in "other" people's health or the deforestation. "Deforestation" is only one of the two excuses.

    • @neku2741
      @neku2741 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      100%. They slander palm oil because they can't grow it themselves. Palm oil is literally the best oil plant per area. It's quite literally the best for environment if they replace all other oil plant with palm oil.

    • @hilda1608
      @hilda1608 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely right. Their product is not competitive in the world market, and the try to smear campaign our product by using deforestation bullshit. A while ago, i read an article talking about how toxic coconut oil is. Really? If that is the case, there wont be 270 million people in Indonesia. We would be all dead.

    • @incognitoadventure
      @incognitoadventure ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just before the pandemic, i think your problem was a terrible air condition due to a thick smog that stretches from malaysia, singapore, and indonesia.. did you forget about that?

    • @secrets.295
      @secrets.295 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@incognitoadventure That is irrelevant. The EU wants to ban palm oil due to "deforestation". Olive and Rapeseed oil on average requires 7-8 times more deforestation than Palm Oil requires. If palm oil completely stops producing any oil, it will require 1,520,000 km sq of deforestation to produce other types of vegetable oils. Meanwhile right now less than 200,000 km sq of land are used for Palm Oil cultivation. That 1.5 million km sq land to produce other types of oil is equivalent to almost half of all EU land. So it is LAUGHABLE that the EU wants to ban Palm Oil under the name of saving the environment. It is nonsense. The idiots in the EU are growing dumber and dumber each passing day. No wonder the EU is breaking apart.

    • @secrets.295
      @secrets.295 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. They do not want to protect Olive and Rape Seed market. They are currently putting restrictions on all farmers in the EU to such a ridiculous extent. It's not only Malaysian & Indonesian farmers that are being punished, their farmers are getting destroyed too. And you want to know why? They want to create starvation in Europe, they want to create as much inequality as possible. When people are hungry and inequality is high, people don't think using their brains. They started to quarrel against one another. They want more riots and looting, destroy all those small businesses. And then when the right time comes and people have caused enough destruction they will seize control by force. They will say to people, see what Capitalism has done to us? And then they will say, the best way to save ourselves is by completely turning into Socialism, no more freedom of speech, no more private businesses. It's the divide & conquer strategy. Remember how Joseph Stalin seized control of Russia? It is the same exact way that is going on in the west today. Margaret Thatcher & Ronald Reagan warned us about Socialism decades ago, they were right.

      @@trustgtr33 What do u mean they are doing better? Malaysia GDP per capita is 60-70% higher than Thailand and our economy has been growing faster than Thailand over the last 10 years. Thailand focused on rice production, we focused on Palm Oil, what difference does it make? Thailand forest area is only at 37%, Malaysia has well over 60%. Countries like France & Germany have around 30% of forest area, the pathetic Netherlands only has 11%. So before they want to lecture us what to do, they might as well lecture themselves. So what are u talking about? U speak about us doing better but do u know that by producing palm oil we are saving the world? We save the world from major deforestation. If Europe has to produce the same amount of oil that they imported from our palm oil using other types of veggies oil available in Europe. They would have to suffer from 6-9 times more deforestation than Malaysia & Indonesia combine. Entire Western Europe would have turned into a desert. We are doing better and we are saving their as$es. These id*ts from the EU they have their own agenda. It's not about economics, its not about the environment. It's about socialism. @@AfiqAziz-ki1kn your justification for deforestation is because the europeans has already messed up so we can do same is unacceptable..the destruction of our forest will cause long term damage to the quality of life of the people.yes it is economics but once we lose our natural water reserves, no amount of money can get it back..my concerns is that because of economics we are cutting dwn natural resources which is unsustainable. thailand not only have better agricultural products, higher currency and exports millions of automotive products, good forest and wildlife management hence they have more potential. Let me add that the palm oil industry enrichen a small amount of people but the rest of the population will suffer, its too much to sacrifice. Malaysia is too dependant by commodities because its easy. Thailand per capita is 17k usd vs 26k for malaysia but do take account of the population difference.

    I'm Indonesian, and I support EU law. People from worker class and the poor do not gain benefit from deforestation, wild animal and plants don't gain benefit from deforestation. Why support it? We have more abandoned land caused by over urbanization and uncontrolled farming, if they want new place to plant palm, use those land, not the forest/jungle. Beside, many part of Indonesia jungle/forest in understimated, we may find new science from it, like plant, fungi, bacteria, algae, etc. That maybe a key to future in medical to combat against illness, plague, or pathogen all for human, other plants and animal. We already have many problem, cutting forest for the sake so called economy that only benefit the elite isn't first choice for Indonesia. Palm oil isn't the only one Indonesia consume, we also have coconut oil to cook.

      Everyone can see plainly that EU anti-deforestation law is just to protect their own vegetable oil industries such as olive oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, etc by potraying others as the bad guys since their own vegetable oil industries output can't keeping up with the palm oil.
      Sure enough Indonesia and malaysia would gradually shifting elsewhere while EU shot themselves on their feet again and again much same like when Indonesia temporarly create havoc in EU by stopping coal shipment to EU.
