I'm Indonesian, and I support EU law. People from worker class and the poor do not gain benefit from deforestation, wild animal and plants don't gain benefit from deforestation. Why support it? We have more abandoned land caused by over urbanization and uncontrolled farming, if they want new place to plant palm, use those land, not the forest/jungle. Beside, many part of Indonesia jungle/forest in understimated, we may find new science from it, like plant, fungi, bacteria, algae, etc. That maybe a key to future in medical to combat against illness, plague, or pathogen all for human, other plants and animal. People from village can produce it as long as they have stock. Palm oil is cheaper not coconut oil is too expensive. Buying directly from coconut oil producer cost you same per liter compared to palm oil, the only different since it is produced traditionally so it is not as pure as those VCO (the one that you think too expensive).
